Hi,

I feel a little silly asking this question as I have seen so many great scopists who have years of experience, whereas I have none. I am, however, quite interested in, at least, learning how one would get into this field. I am wondering whether a scoping school would be a beneficial move for myself or whether there are other ways to begin marketing myself and my capabilities.

I am currently a high-speed student at the College of Court Reporting in Valparaiso, Indiana. I have taken a couple of courses on Eclipse and also some transcription preparation classes. Before I started studying court reporting, I received my Bachelor's in English Literature from the University of California, Berkeley. Is this enough to start looking at how to market my skills as a scopist or proof reader?

I am a full-time professionally trained scopist working in CaseCATalyst and DigitalCAT. I will be working throughout the holiday season and have time to help one or two more court reporters. I have ten years’ experience with every legal proceeding and subject matter imaginable and work with both official and freelance reporters on a full-time, part-time and overflow basis. Prior to becoming a professional scopist, I received an M.A. in forensic psychology and then worked six years for a forensic psychologist, preparing him for expert testimony. I truly enjoy what I do, and I am good at it.

Your first ten pages are completed at no cost and returned to you, so that you can see that you will be leaving your transcripts in capable hands. According to your preferences, transcripts receive the utmost care with no shortcuts.

• Word-for-word comparison to the audio
• Translating any mistrans/untrans
• Ensuring correct punctuation
• Researching spellings
• Fixing formatting
• Flagging any questionable areas for your attention

Your transcripts are then sent back to you as close to perfect as possible, needing only a quick
proofread.

I am now pregnant and looking to slow down on reporting jobs so that I may stay home and scope for extra income during these last few months without having to go out "in the field," which is becoming increasingly harder for me as my body expands more and more! I will continue scoping for a few months after the baby is born. She is due the last week of February.

Please email me if you are interested! I have a fast turnaround, and my rates are fair and flexible. My email address is: robindeal1@gmail.com
Hi, everyone. I am in the Southern California area and have been an Eclipse scopist now for almost 5 years. I went to school to be a reporter for 2 years and scoped the last 6 months while still at school. I eventually left school due to pinched nerves when I was at about 150 wpm and began scoping on a full-time basis. Due to the slow holiday season, I am available for some extra work. I primarily work for 1 reporter, but have worked for others as well in the past. I also just received my CRI…

My name is Ahuva Goldberger. I finished theory this past summer, and I am currently working on my speed. I hope to pass my 220 by Fall of '09. Until then, I am paying my bills by scoping. I am on CaseCatalyst and looking for about 200 pages per day.
