I haven't used it yet with a USB to Serial cable yet. My Diamante just connects to the port and that's; you need no converter. That's good info to know when doing RT, though, because I had one from Cool Gear I am using and don't know if it is compatible for W7 because I have had it so long.

However, when I plugged it in, the computer automatically found the driver for it and installed it. I would assume it wouldn't do that if it was the wrong driver.

Hi Kelli,

I just bought a new Toshiba and I too love Toshibas. It's my second one. I was wondering what do you use to connect to your machine. Because my old USB to Serial cable is not compatible with W7, and I've read absolute horror stories about freezing of audio and screen freezing and losing audio with the new PCI or whatever USBto Serial cable that's available on the market and would be compatible with my new Toshiba with W7.
If anyone would have any idea about what's the best cable out there to use with W7, please help!!!

I've been using that particular mic for two years now and the quality seems to be good. I had the one that used a battery and hated it.

I paid $300 for the Martel Mic a while back, a couple of years and the audio quality was terrible. Martel wouldn't give me my money back. I ended up throwing it in the trash. That was the USB mic. Maybe I shouldn't have done that.

At least with my XP computer the audio was not that great.

I am using the Martel, although it's not the USB. It's the regular mic plug. It worked good on my four other laptops I've had over the years but not so good on my new Lenovo. I am thinking of ordering from Sony. They allow 30 days before return and you only pay shipping.

Kelli,

You should try the USB mic from, I think, Martel. They are located in Yorba Linda or Anaheim Hills off of La Palma. It's more than $100 but worth it. I may have the name wrong but I'm not too far off. If you are interested I can find out for you.

I got another Toshiba because the last two I had were wonderful. I have been using the internal microphone because the computer would not accept any external mic. Best Buy said maybe I should try a USB external microphone but they had cheap ones. I got on Amazon and bought one for $100.00 so hopefully that will make all the difference. Other than that, I love the computer. However, in this job the audio quality is everything and especially with the super technical cases I do. Makes me…
