Hello, Fellow Court Reporters.

Does anyone have any ideas on using a foolproof numbering system? Mine seems to be hit and miss, especially when dealing with large numbers. I'm on Stenocat. Also, how do you know if your realtime is good enough for public view? Do I dare? I wanted to try Live Note and I have cables but I don't know how to attach them. Any feedback would be appreciated.
By the way, I'm a big fat chicken to do Live Note!

Hey Sheree,

I am sorry I don't have a specific numbering system....I have eclipse and they are great at that stuff, so I have no problems.
But as far as realtime is concerned, it depends on your tran rate and if you have any conflicts. They say you must have a strong prefix and suffix theory and be able to avoid those nasty conflicts...lol. As far as LiveNote, you should def. know how to hook up the cables and troubleshoot a bit before you get into it. A girlfriend taught me at her house before ever I ventured. She went to a specific training class and became certified, which gives you much more confidence too. Perhaps someone can help too! ;0)
Good luck and let me know how it goes!
Debbie
Hi, Sheree.

Mark Kislingbury has a rather interesting system for writing the years in one stroke in his book, "My System: The Road to Realtime Excellence."

I'm not sure, but I think he has either the same system or an updated version in his book, "Stenomaster."

I vaguely remember looking through "My System" when I was in theory; that was definitely too much, too soon ...! Wish I had a copy right now, though! One-stroke years sounds good!

Thank you, Glen. I'm going to look for that book. And thank you, Debbie. I'm going to take your advice and get my reporting buddy over here to show me how to hook up!

Thanks, again, you guys!

Jeanese,

Great stuff. I do the years also, but since TW- is for my "twenty" numbers, i use DW- for all the years, 2000-2010.

Of course, as I am in school, and all our transcripts seem to be from the '70s and '80s, I don't get to use them much! :)
