I went to the Mark Kislingbury seminar this weekend for the third time. I'm so frustrated with myself because I came home and was proofing this job and noticed how many times I could have used briefs that I've learned from two years ago and I'm only using them 40% of the time. I'm talking about the little briefs that just save you physically, such as:

that you were

that you had

that you believe

when you were

The job I proofed yesterday had a ton of these little phrases and I'm writing them in three strokes 60% of the time. I just don't understand why I can't get my brain to use them more. I know what they are.

Does anyone have an idea how I can make myself use these more? I've been using them for two years but I want to use them "all the time." It would really cut down on the fatigue if I could MAKE myself use them.

I had a birth asphyxia case a couple weeks ago and looks like I have another tomorrow. These are doctor (experts) depos.

So looking for briefs for things related to cerebral palsy, OB/GYN terms (including how do you write OB/GYN, gynecology, gynecological, obstetrician and obstetrics), Cesarean section, etc.

So any terms in these subject matters.

You'd think after all these years, I'd have a brief for OB/GYN, but I do not!

For those videotaped depositions, I had to come up with a couple briefs. The videographer would say, "Would you swear in the witness, please?" and I would always freeze, because not only am I writing that out, they're waiting on me to swear in the witness. Here's what I came up with: WUTS for "Would you swear in the witness, please?" and WUT for "Would you swear in the witness?" Also, KUPSD for "Counsel, would you please state your appearances for the record?" and KUDS for "Counsel,…
