I have completed one semester of theory online using Roberts Walsh Gonzalez. I feel that writing short may help me get court reporter certification faster. Has anyone here learned Magnum as her first theory? If so, how did you get your training? There's a website that sells Magnum Steno books plus other educational material to get you started called selfstudycourtreporting.com. Has anyone tried this package?
Well, the way we were always taught at my school in CA was certainly effective for me; however, I also practiced an average of six to eight hours a day! I would take a portable cassette recorder to 4-voice class every day and record, then I would practice with that again after class. You should always try to make a habit of getting in a little practice at the lower speed than where you're at. It helps whether you realize it or not! You should always try to make a habit of getting in a little practice at the lower speed than where you're at. It helps whether you realize it or not! Then go up one speed above your current writing speed. And also try practicing 225 WPM Q and A! If it frustrates you at first, don't give up because soon enough you will notice you are getting more and more of it! Hope that helps. Hello!
I'm only on 160 wpm, but I need to pass two 160 tests at 98% accuracy.

Anyone got any ideas on how I can do this?

How much practise do you think I should be doing a day?

I've got a couple of 200 wpm tapes to practise to and the magnumsteno website.

Any ideas? Thanks!

It's the end of my third week in the MUB, and I am certain that it is improving my speed! Mark's techniques for speedbuilding did not really work for me before, but the problem was that I needed the context that he provides in his videos for it to fit. Somehow, I have managed to keep the faith and work the program every day. I'm trying to figure out how I can do it twice a day. I now feel that I have a fighting chance at passing something on the upcoming RMR skills test and that the effort will be well spent. So I signed up yesterday.

What's important for me at this point in time is, "Stay on the speaker, stay on the speaker." It seems that everything else falls into place for me when I do that.
Here are some of the briefs that I have developed under Mark's influence. My apologies if they turn out not to be mine after all (I never keep track!).
