Hello everyone! I figured I'd post about a great little place I frequent whenever I'm in Destin. It's called Emerald Coast Wine Cellars, and it's in Miramar Beach, FL (which is essentially Destin).…Continue

Hey, Kathy,

I'm going to get some of the Joseph Handler Riesling 2009, Germany Pfalz you suggested and take it to Dallas with me for Thanksgiving.  I think my sister is a fan of Riesling wines.  Thanks for the suggestion.  I'll let you know how everyone likes it. :-)

I recently tried Gnarly Wine and the Zin is a great bargain under $10.00.  It actually compares favorably  to an Amarone I had recently at 6 times the price, but it should be noted that wine is a truly subjective experience.  The wine  is deep purple in color, 14.5 alcohol, and is perfect especially for cold New York wintry nights or after a long day of waiting for the phone to ring for work!  Only kidding, but not!

and it had a cork - the new plastic variety.

Janiece,

the wine you tried and loved Gewurztraminer from the Fetzer winery , is one of my favorites!!  great by itself and goes with most things!!!

Try shopping at World Market for wine.  They've got an amazing selection, decent prices, and the salespeople KNOW their wine and can make good recommendations!!

I was there before Christmas and bought three or four bottles of wine for gifts.  I bought this one bottle of wine because I liked the blue color of the bottle.  and it looked nice.  it is Joseph Handler Riesling 2009, Germany Pfalz.  My parents brought over some pork (which we cooked and had with salad)  this wine went

G-R-E-A-T with the pork.  Best wine I ever tasted!!!  of course it was the food pairing.  when i drank the leftover wine later that evening without food, it wasn't quite as good as it was with dinner/food!

but with pork, I recommend Joseph Handler Riesling 2009  Germany Pfalz

absolutely perfect on the palate!!

Marge, I live in the KC area and we just got Trader Joe's in town this past summer.  I will have to give your recommendation a try now that I finally have a corkscrew.  (haha)  Thanks for the tip. :-)

I admit I am not sophisticated when it comes to wine.  I need to take a class on wine.  But last night I had Gewurztraminer from the Fetzer winery and I really loved it.  I may even start drinking wines that have a cork, LOL!!!

Roger, I can recommend 2007 A to Z Riesling for Thanksgiving. I tried it with turkey the other day and it went very well. I'm not a big merlot drinker. I couldn't tell you a good year even. You could always research regions and years and start there. Cheers!

Looking for a recommendation on a white for the succulent Thanksgiving turkey and I guess I should also put on the table a red for the "dark " meat, eh?

Anyone up on Four Grapes Port? I had a bit a taste a weekend or so ago, pretty good.
