I remember seeing suggestions of people who will set up our auto index for us (and be paid, of course) - but can't find those suggestions. For years I've promised myself I'd take the time to learn to do it, but now realize that time isn't coming soon. If anyone does this or knows someone who does, names would be most appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, ya'll. I need to add a mixer to add microphones at multiple locations in a courtroom. I purchased the Nady mixer and have all the appropriate connectors. When I use it in the diamante, it is great. With the puter, it sounds not usable. So many issues I cannot even describe them. Not even sure if it is picking up through the internal microphone or the mixer. Is anyone else using a mixer? If so, can you help me?

Thanks,

The videographer asked if I wanted the direct feed before the depo and I said no, not knowing how, where, what settings, does it replace my audio in Eclipse? Any help would be great as I think quite a few are coming up.

I work on a case where the Bates numbers have several underscores within them. Is there a way to global a stroke for the underscore to get it to come out as _? When I try, all I get is a blank space. for example 04_3333_5555.72_01 is a Bates number.

I have current tech support and have discussed this issue with them, but they can't seem to help and I was told they have not heard of the problem before. So I thought I'd ask some actual users and see if anyone has experienced this issue, and if so, if they can tell me whether they were able to fix it or not.

I have only had this issue since switching to Version 6, which was about a year ago. I hook up to my laptop at every job. I sometimes will have another program open that I use during a break, such as my Gmail or Solitaire. Sometimes I even play Solitaire during an extremely slow/boring deposition. It helps me concentrate and keeps me awake, believe it or not. I tell you this not to brag that I'm a real multi-tasker or to embarrass our profession, but so you understand that this problem happens whether I have another program open or not.

There is no set time (page count, for example) that the problem arises. It appears to be random. I write with a Passport connected through a USB cable. I was using a bluetooth connection and thought that might be the problem, but it happens whether I use bluetooth or the USB cable.

The problem is this: Somewhere within the transcript (30 pgs, 70 pgs, 100 pgs - doesn't matter), all of a sudden the realtime feed starts to lag and the lagging becomes worse and worse. So much so that if I leave the connection running, I could be 10 pgs behind in realtime compared to where we actually are in the depo. However, my Passport is still keeping up.

If I close out the job and reopen another realtime file, the lagging begins almost immediately. In order for the lagging to totally go away, I have to totally exit out of Eclipse to the Windows desktop and then go back into Eclipse. This happens on almost every job.

When you're doing realtime feeds to attorneys, it becomes very frustrating, and most of my jobs I have to piece together or pull off the steno machine so that I have a complete transcript.

I have two computers I have the same issue with. One is a Windows 8 computer and has 4 gb of RAM (approx 1-1/2 yrs old) and the other is a Windows 7 starter netbook with 1 gb of RAM (approx 2 yrs old).

However, yesterday I "experimented" with my job. I opened up the Solitaire window and was playing Solitaire (looking at the screen, calculating my moves mostly) and would switch back and forth between Solitaire and Eclispe occasionally (Alt+Tab). At slightly over 100 pgs, I closed Solitaire down and watched Eclipse solely. Up to that point I had no issues with lagging. Since I had not been watching the Eclipse screen that often, I was not using any suggested auto briefs. Once I switched to using Eclipse and was tried of writing Presbyterian Manor Inc. over and over and over, I started using certain suggested auto briefs. It seemed like within minutes the lagging started. So now I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with the auto brief feature. I reopen Solitaire, but that does not seem to affect the lagging - making it slower or non-existent. So I closed Solitaire again, but the transcript continued to get farther and farther behind.

Any experience, thoughts, ideas as to the problem? I can't afford to keep buying new hardware, and frankly, I'm so sick of the situation I'm beginning to think I should switch software.

I used my iPads yesterday and used Connection Magic to stream the realtime feed. It works flawlessly and amazing. I was so excited. Too bad I just bought LiveDeposition because my own software through Eclipse does it for free. Very cool.

I do understand from Eclipse they are going to start charging for this feature eventually though. I guess our $600 fee a year is not enough.

It suddenly started happening to me again yesterday. I opened a job that I scoped yesterday to proof it today, and the last 45 pages or so of changes from yesterday were reverted back to the unedited format. I've just spent another good amount of time redoing the changes, and when I go to Windows Explorer and look at the Date modified on the file -- which is still open because I don't want to lose changes again -- the time showing on the file is more than an hour ago, meaning it has not updated even once during that time. In order to assure I don't lose all the work I've done on the file, I am going to have to write it to another file so it will create a current version of it.
I know Jeremy is trying to get the Connection Magic all up and running before the convention, but this losing work is too critical to ignore. I have seen it reported in all the various reporting forums I frequent at different times, and I know several people personally who have had it happen to them. We can't afford to be having to do work over, and we certainly can't afford to be having it happen and not realizing it and putting out uncorrected work!
ETA: I did the steps I indicated above, writing the entire file to a new file, and then closed out the file. The time on it remained more than hour ago, and all changes made during that time are now gone. I have both files to compare if it would help.

I powered down the normal way by exiting out of each and every program before shutting down. I came back this morning to pick up where I left off, went into my job, and it took me to a transcript that was totally without edititing. I looked see if I could revert back to another time. There was nothing there, like it never existed. I went to my trash bin, nothing there. I checked to see if my dictionaries that I used had updated, and they had, except for the job dictionary. So nothing else was affected. I then did a search on my computer to see if I could find it somewhere else. No luck. Just where it should have been.

Now the weird part. When I started to re-edit the job, everytime I would turn off Hyperkeys to type in a replacement, it suggest the exact same replacement, even if it wasn't one I had ever used for that word before, but it matched what I had done before.

Just for grins and giggles, I globaled in my job dictionary to see if anything would change, and nothing did.

So it saved something somewhere, but not what it should have.

BYW, I did no restores this morning or any other computer clean ups, scans or optimizations.
