Hi, I am a working reporter, scopist, and proofreader, using Case CATalyst version 17.  I have experience with work units, daily copy, tobacco and asbestos trials.  I specialize in medical-legal depositions as I was a medical secretary for many years before I changed careers.  I have time to add one more reporter to my clientele.  Is it you?  If you'd like to email me, my email is  Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I am a Case CATalyst Scopist using v17 with audio-sync.
I have been scoping for about 11 years for official reporters and freelance reporters.  In that time I have worked on just about every type of transcript; depositions, arbitrations, mediations, trials, statements, et cetera.
I am currently working for a few reporters on an as-needed basis, but I am very much interested in the opportunity to increase my workload and would accept full-time work or more work on an as-needed basis.
If you want to write more often and edit less, my services will help you achieve that.  My work is timely and accurate and I care about your work representing you as much as you do.

Please contact me at 609-618-6188 or if you are interested in my scoping services.

I am looking to proofread for a couple busy reporters.  I have been a scopist and proofreader since 2008.  I use both Eclipse and Case Catalyst.  I always try to return the transcript sooner than requested at no extra charge and I have never missed a turnaround deadline.  I was a medical transcriptionist for four years prior to becoming a scopist.   I have extensive experience doing depositions, court trials.  I have done a great deal of high-level, confidential government work as well as proofreading and scoping the SCOTUS oral arguments.  If you think we may be a fit, the best way to contact me is via email at

Hi, Eclipse 6 and 7 reporters,

I've been a scopist for over 25 years.  I work with one reporter whose jobs are sparse, so I'm looking to add an experienced reporter, regular delivery until we know each other's work, and then I'd be happy to do expedited jobs as well.  I use Dropbox, SendThisFile and other transcript delivery methods.  I read every word of a transcript with full, partial or no audio, whichever you prefer.  (Clear audio-sync is important.)  I pay particular attention to spelling, punctuation and grammar.  I follow the Gregg Handbook, and if you send me a preference sheet, that will be my first reference.  I read notes and will send you globals.  I do Internet research for names and spellings.

If you have questions, please contact me at

I'm a former reporter of 28 years.  I am now scoping on Eclipse versions 6 and 7.  Margie Wakeman-Wells was my English teacher.  I am seeking one more reporter.  I pay attention to detail and do research for you.  I scope the transcript exactly as you would like it to be re setup, preferences, etc.  I also do Connection Magic depos.  You can reach me at  Or give me a call at 530-925-3261.  I look forward to talking to you!  My rates are very fair, and I think you will like my turnaround time!

Hey, Carmelita,

I agree that would be a wonderful idea!  I currently have a "client" who hasn't paid me for rush work done about six months ago; and I'm juggling another reporter who will pay me when she gets paid . . . whenever that is.  I just think I read something from the moderator saying there were liability issues involved in naming names.  I'm unsure.

And, hey, Carm, miss working with you!  Take care.

Comment by Carmelita Lee on September 18, 2016 at 11:40

First, I am proposing to the moderator that there should be a dedicated place in the forum for reporting no pay/slow pay reporters.  That would make this a bit easier.

Secondly, I have a "very busy, 1200 or more pages a week" reporter who doesn't pay, can't find her checkbook, thought she mailed it already, etc.  the initials are MJE out of Georgia.  Contact me if you need more info

I need an excellent Eclipse V7 scopist to help me with a daily civil trial that will be going for the next 6 weeks.  I need someone who can punctuate, put in speaker IDs that are missing, listen to audio but only "fix" drops; not stuttering.  I need someone who can get the work back to me next morning for proofreading.  If you only want to do half day, that is fine.  I can use Dropbox.  Please email me rates and availability.  Ana Dub,

I have a 300-pg transcript (Eclipse) that is an absolute mess as far as drops; videotaped, mumbling fast police officer and fast-speaking lawyer. I will most likely split into halves.

Okay... school's back in session and it's time to make the big push for the final third of the year... Dedicated and responsible CaseCAT scopist, 19th year in the business, is looking to get busier with one or two new clients.  I listen to everything, not just spot-checks!  My normal page rate is $1.25 per page for normal turnaround work, and $1.50 for dailies, rushes, and highly technical jobs.  I am experienced in mesothelioma and transvaginal mesh litigation, high finance, medical malpractice... governmentese... I've seen it all.  Please look me up and I'll be happy to communicate with you...

Case CATalyst.

Using a scopist is supposed to make your life a little bit easier.  That's my goal.

I make every effort to do most of the legwork while I'm scoping your file.  If requested, I can gladly include the formatting for autoindexing along with exhibit descriptions.  I make dictionary entries (correctly), verify spellings of names and places,  and much more. I endeavor to add as much value to your transcript that I possibly can before it gets back to you for proofing.  I complete each job with full audio to ensure accuracy.

I'm practically a handbook on the AP style guide. Additionally, I can answer the question "How would Margie punctuate this gobbledegook?" and I was trained on Morson's. Following preferences is not a problem for me.

If you're looking for a solid scopist with demonstrable experience and skill, feel free to contact me at
