Well, I wondered if it was maybe blonde instead of gray but the picture has a shadow and I wasn't sure. Oops, sorry about that! Either way, blonde, gray, whatever, your hair looks fabulous and you look elegant and I'm sticking with that! And, definitely, not a house dress kinda lady!

Now, I'm really going to call it a day. My hair is blonde, not gray, though some of the roots aren't as dark as they used to be. :(

Janet, I know what you mean about those house dresses! Oh, by the way, I love "your" gray; you look really elegant with yours. Mine makes me look washed out but your's doesn't do that at all! If I wore gray as well as you do, I would definitely not color my hair. :-)

Late 1900s? I feel like my grandmother. If I start looking at house dresses, I'm going to call it a day!

No, Jeanese, the author is referring to 1996 as "the late 1900's" (see below) and that's why it was making me feel so old.
No, I think when taken in the context of this whole article, this speaker/author of the article is very young and that's why the way he referred to 1996 hit me.
I, too, don't really mind getting older, really (except for the gray which I do NOT like), but, generally, I am having a blast at this stage of life and don't, I guess, feel my age usually until I hear a comment like this one which gives me a reality check!! So that's, I guess, when the saying you're only as old as you act/feel comes into play, huh? Thank you; you helped me work through this - you should be a psychiatrist!
