Everything is working great with Eclipse and Windows 7. At first I hadn't turned off my User Control Settings in Windows 7, and that was causing things not to work properly in Eclipse. But now that I fiexed that, everything is working perfectly!
I like Windows 7. It's much, much better than Vista. It doesn't get hung up installing updates, and when turning it on and off.
If you have any questions once you get the computer, let me know!

I didn't realize you were a student. You can use the student version for free. Then when you go to work, you get the full version for six months instead of 90 days before you have to pay for it. There are training videos on the website, and a manual you can download. At the beginning of the manual is a quick start guide to get you going.
There is also a Stenovations user forum at http://stenovations.com/pforum/ You can join that and post questions you have. I am the moderator of the forum. You can also email me at ilovedigitalcat2@hotmail.com.
Hi Kwanna, I had this problem too when I was in school. I had to learn to focus on the phonetic sound of the words. I was one that always pushed in speeds. Once I got to 225 it was hard for me to go to 200. Once I learned to focus, I got through pretty quickly. I still use that focusing tool. For me that one lesson has been a lifesaver. I close my eyes when I need to focus and concentrate on breathing steady and paced. When I try to write too fast, like I'm running, I drop, but when I do this exercise it seems to slow the speaker down in my head. Some people stare a something on the wall or their shoe. You may have heard people talking about going into a bubble. All of these work for different people. I would also stop pushing your speed and just focus on the 200 class and speed. If you have mastered 225, it won't be a problem to pick it up again when you need it. Good Luck!
Hi, Kwanna. I had a momentary bout of buyer'$ remor$e. It's a lot of money, and I really do feel it is a permanent decision. I also spoke with a competitor's representative yesterday. The phone call left me unsettled, because I was told that the other software resolves conflicts just as well. I went back and looked through all of my information and notes, and I just can't accept that as fact.
I am fully committed now. If you have a lot of conflicts, then I absolutely think you made the right choice. That is what Eclipse does well.
Are you contemplating the professional or student version? If you get the student version, they will allow you to make quarterly payments, which are about $100 each.
They have a good company that they use that offers a lease to buy program. That's what I did when I first got my license and bought Eclipse. My payments are $131 a month. I wouldn't recommend buying it from somebody because you might need the support when you first start off and you won't get it unless you pay a transfer fee! Call them and see what options they have available! I recommend Susquehanna as the leasing company!
I think Charlotte is the biggest city in NC and the closest you'd get to your hometown... but that's not to say it's a lot like NYC! However, it does have the feel of a bigger city. Charlotte has some good opportunities. Don't know the cost of living there, though. Definitely come down and scope it out! ;)
After using the keypads from Top Cat, the top layer is starting to separate. Did you already order them? I hope not. I just ordered the rubber ones from Pengad. I know I've used them before and had no problems with them.
I got them from Top Cat Steno. I actually bought them on eBay from Top Cat. You can get them either way.
They say they're smaller than some of the others, which is great.
I find Stenographs are too big and end up touching other keys and bringing them down. I've had to rip them in the middle of a job because I'm getting mistrokes.
I like Tami's idea of doubling or tripling up the vowels. I tried Johnny Jackson's machine at one of the conventions. I really liked the feel.
I love key pads & can't stand to work without them.
Hi, Kwanna...
I'll be out of town that weekend, in Nashville, TN, visiting my brother and attending the voice writer convention (NVRA).
FYI,it's DURHAM, not DERM. Even though it SOUNDS like "derm" :)
I'll be back in touch next weekend, I hope. and maybe sooner if court breaks down early. :)
Just wanted to drop you a line... I'll be out of town all next week (Montgomery County, NC - 2 hours+ away) and may not have the time to really do an in-depth answer to your questions.
Have you been down to NC to visit yet? Do you have family here?
I LOVE the Raleigh area - been here since I left Upstate (lived in Canajoharie, exit 29 Thruway) for college in 1983.
If you come to visit, please let me know so I can meet with you in person.
As for the rest... a private email later on in the day, okay?

I'm selling my writer because I only need one! The one I'm selling is a spare.

Here's a link to the pads on eBay. I hope the link works.

BUT I WILL DO IT. I'll put a star next to it. :)
How about these:
PR-T for precinct or P-RT
TK-Z for disease
TK-G for diagnose
TK-GS for diagnosis
Let me know if you have any conflicts, and I'll come up with others.
