BOIT, I did take a new position in January. Love my new judge. I feel so appreciated. He's loving his RT, that's fo' sure. After 12 years with my old judge, everything just seemed to be expected, so it's been a great change for me.
Wow, 230! That's amazing. I'm so proud of them. The future looks bright. That's too bad about Ms. Gurich. Maybe there will be another event you can catch her at.
Do you have a new assignment since I spoke to you last?
Mark will be speaking at Cerritos; how cool is that?
Clay is still struggling to complete all his academics. He ended up taking 49 units this past school year and still needs a few more classes: biology, court/depo procedures, and a beginning vocab, which I think he can challenge.
Candice and Clay both passed a 230, though. Their teacher stood up at the end-of-the-year banquet and said in all her years teaching that they were the only students who had ever passed that high of a speed. I bet they both write w-a-a-a-y shorter than any other students she's ever had, too. :)
She approached me afterwards and told me what a pleasure it was to have Clay as a student. She was so nice! Mrs. Gurich ended up not showing up. I was so bummed. Had brought a plant garden for her and was just so excited to get to see her again. :(
Mark K. sent Clay his new book a week ago. It's a WOW!
He's supposed to be speaking to the students at Cerritos College the week of the convention. How lucky they are!!
I have moved my office twice in the past two months, so I haven't been able to find that Q and A book. Hopefully when I get the ten boxes unpacked it will show up. Loving my new assignment.
OK, I cracked up at your new picture. Megan said that she wasn't fond of the old 80's picture that you had up. BTW, how great is Megan? I knew her before you responded to my comments, so it was a pleasant surprise to see you are related. I teased her that her mom "friended" me on CSRnation.
Hi Christine. I am so glad I read your profile as I have been looking for someone who runs a Mac and CaseCatalyst.
I am a student at Sage College right now, but am hoping to do all the research necessary so that when it comes time to buy my equipment, I make the best, most informed choices.
I currently have a Macbook laptop, but am not yet out of Theory yet, so I don't even have my Student version of CaseCatalyst.
If you were to buy your equipment again, would you go the same route, or would you do something differently?
Thanks so much for any and all advice you may share with me. I really appreciate it.
Aleece
But it doesn't look like Mark is affiliated with courtreps.com.
You should post a thread on the Livenote, etc., question. That's what we use at work, but I have nothing to compare it to.
I'm off for two weeks sorting things out. I took a Family Leave act leave. I've qualified since my son was born with all his health issues but have never filed it. It just pretty much allows you extra time to take care of family without getting paid for it. I even have to come up with my insurance payments out of pocket.
That old book is so awesome. I totally remember it boosting my speed when I was about at 160.
I still have lab dreams myself -- hours and hours in that lab. Everyone always told me I was a natural. Guess if the last one in the lab every night is considered a natural, I have to agree. :)

Hi Christine:
How are you Christine? I am excited about my new career-to-be! And all the people I am meeting on this site that have tons of experience and ideas.
I have another year, the way things are going, to finish, but thats ok. After three and a half decades at the same job (no complaints), this is really, really cool!
I am using whatever Macomb College is teaching us, but they "call" it "conflict-free theory", in an effort to all but eliminate editing, should you be so lucky to stroke it correctly every time!,,, That would be the "luck 'o the Irish", wouldn't it? (St. Paddy's day coming, 'tis).
I am leaning toward Mark Kislingbury's theory and shortcuts, because I want to run with the fast ponies on this one! The shorter the better, I say, but it has to register in the brain, so it comes out the fingers.
Hey, stay in touch, see you, have a good Friday!
Dale
Sorry for not submitting comments now. We're skiing in Mammoth for the next 10 days and have no internet. I'm at a coffee shop to check mail, but will write next week
Hi Christine!
I'm new to the CSR forum, glad to be here! I see many talented and smiling faces doing the career that I'm embarking upon at the tender age of 53 (after 35 years at my prior job, Ford Motor Company), and admiring the success, smiles, and comeraderie that you CRs have between miles and miles of encoded reporter notes (pun intended).
Anyway, nice meeting you, Christine!

How's Megan doing??
I am going to the convention. Should be a lot of fun. Wish you two could come but know you have a vacation conflict.
We just took a road trip to Utah to see Zion and Bryce National Parks. Had a blast. Just a beautfiful drive!
Talk to you soon!
Do you have a new assignment since I spoke to you last?

Sounds like Megan's doing terrific. Super!

Go, Megan.
His girl did, too!!! DOUBLE YIPPEE!!
Clay talked to Mark. Interesting . . .

Just nice to be off.

I also tried to reply to the Sage comment you made, but it wouldn't let me do it either. Next time will be a better day, I'm sure.
