Every since I updated to Total Eclipse whenever I write the word point, whether it's standpoint, appoint, the decimal symbol comes out. for an example, the word standpoint will come out stand ., and the word point just has ., and I can't figure out how to change this to the way it's supposed to be.

this may be very old information, but I was at a seminar where this exact topic was discussed.  I would call support if you can.  I think you redefine it in the metadictionary, but I don't touch that area without the pros.  To fix the problem, I now write poi if I just want a point to appear, .16.  Good luck.

Check to see how "point" is defined.  Sounds like it's defined as "."

Trisha, same thing happened to me.  I used to hit point and . the same way and the program could tell which I wanted.  Now you have to write them differently.  Evidently when this change first happened some lucky people called support and got them to help them with it and they're okay.  However, when I called support, they said, no, you have to hit them separately now.  I tried twice.

There is a discussion of this on the Total Eclipse Facebook page with some things that have worked for some people.  I tried all of them and nothing worked for me.

I've tried changing the way I write point, but it still comes up .  It has something to do with the word point and I can't figure it out.  It's driving me nuts!

I'm sure you defined "point" in your dictionary.  Hmmmmm....let me think.
