Have you ever covered an arbitration with a panel of judges/arbitrators?

What would you use for your outlines for the speakers for the judges on the panel?  Would you use the first and last initial of their name?

Tom Smith = TS/TS?

I use STPHAO, SKWRAO and so on for my attorneys.

Thanks,

Janiece

You know how we all love the last page of the JCR with the funny transcript excerpts?  I've started a just-for-fun Facebook page for court reporters to interact with the legal community and the world at large and show them the funny side of our job!!  The Silent Scribe needs you!!!!!  To be featured on the page, e-mail funny transcript excerpts to silentscribe101@gmail.com with your excerpt, name and location (if you want it announced on the posting) or like the page on Facebook and send a message.  Due to privacy concerns, all submissions must be approved before being posted on The Silent Scribe.  Who wants to wait three months for the next JCR to come out?  Let's entertain our clients and friends... and each other :)

No last name? That's a hoot!  If she emails you again, ask her to enumerate the grounds for her threats of lawsuit.  She may want to consult the LAW on slander or def lawsuits before she theatens and/or harasses you - duh! :) Tell her that goes both ways, including harassment suit. :)

I love SendThisFile.com.  I've used it for over 8 years

A few years ago, I used T3.  My computer crashed, and I wanted the wav file along with the scoped file to put back on my restored computer.  I called T3, and I don't know who it was, but a man answered.  I explained my predicament, and he seemed quite displeased with my request.  He said, "Well, it's almost 5:00. It will take a while."  He did return my file that evening, but I was shocked at his attitude toward a paying customer.  "Almost 5:00," as if most reporters stop working at 5:00!  I could understand if he had other matters that needed his attention that he might not be able to honor my request that minute, but he didn't say that.  I switched to another service not long after that.

One of my scopists says that's what most reporters use these days, SendThisFile.  That's at least most of the reporters she works for.  I've never used it personally.

If you're looking for other alternatives, I've been using SendThisFile to send to scopists for years.  They throttle down the send time on the free version, but it doesn't take very long.  I don't remember the limit, but I've never had a problem sending big jobs with audio.  There were times I needed faster transmission so I did upgrade to the 4.99 a month plan last year.

I don't understand what he thinks he can sue you for - it's not slander or defamation if the statement is true - duh! I agree with Denise - he has done more harm himself in reacting this way, than you could ever have done.

oh, my goodness, that is ridiculous. I've never used T3, but after that idiocy, I would not even consider using them. People are allowed to have their opinions about a service provider good or bad. The information you relayed was perfectly legitimate. Lisa and Paul have done the harm to themselves if there was any harm done at all.

Kelli, did this all stem from yesterday, the threat of lawsuit, because you promoted another company on this website?
