I just bought the StenoCast RED, and I got it set up and working in about five minutes. Easy peasy. Can't wait to use it. I only bought one Eclipse receiver and one LiveNote/Summation receiver because they're a wee bit pricey at $100 each. Hopefully one of my friends will buy RED at my recommendation so I can get a free receiver.

Apparently you can get a discount if you go to the CCRA convention in Palm Springs or if you take any of Keith Vincent's seminars or webinars.
Anyone else using RED…

Anyone else using RED and loving it? Catalyst "Work Units"tag:csrnation.ning.com,2009-09-11:1736041:Topic:10800212009-09-11T15:57:55.031ZCarrehttps://csrnation.ning.com/profile/Carre
Has anyone ever used the "Work Units" feature with Catalyst and saved them to a shared file that your scopist can access via the internet while you continue to report your job? If so, how does the file sharing work exactly? I'd love to use this feature for daily roughs in trials and arbs.

Trouble hooking up to attytag:csrnation.ning.com,2009-05-17:1736041:Topic:10213492009-05-17T19:44:13.162ZMarla Sharphttps://csrnation.ning.com/profile/MarlaSharp
I've been having trouble hooking up to this attorney in this arb I'm in through LiveNote. Eclipse tech support says all my connections are right. I also tried using Bridge, but it never worked.

The problem may have been the attorney's USB-to-serial adapter. I should've had him use mine and installed the driver for it on his laptop, but we ran out of time. He's now since given up on hooking up, so I don't want to force it.
But I've had trouble several times before. So I thought if I talked out…

But I've had trouble several times before. So I thought if I talked out my troubleshooting list here, someone might suggest something I've missed.
Hooking up to LiveNote with Eclipse:
My computer:
User Settings, Realtime tab
alt A to Add output format
Output is Summation/CaseView (same as atty)
Comm device is set to "COM port"
Settings button - COM is set to correct port, baud rate is 2400 (same as atty)

Attorney computer:
Started LiveNote
Options, Realtime options
CaseView, 2400 baud rate

I have the CoolGear USBGear serial adapters which have the indicator lights on them so you can tell when they're working. I've switched them out from being the sending adapter to the receiver. Whichever is the sender shows lights like it's working but not the receiver.

I have a spare laptop; but there's no more free demo version of LiveNote, so I can't test my connection unless I'm at a job. I have tried hooking my laptop up to my spare laptop via Bluetooth dongles I bought from ProCAT, but I can't get the two computers to connect. ProCAT won't support the dongles outside of hooking up directly to their Stylus steno machine.

Does ActiveSync interfere with it? Do you have to disable both Windows firewall and McAfee or Norton firewalls?

I hooked up to a friend a couple of months ago without any problem whatsoever. I'm at a loss, looking for suggestions. Thanks! Spanish wordstag:csrnation.ning.com,2009-05-12:1736041:Topic:10178092009-05-12T04:21:25.522ZMary Ann Taylorhttps://csrnation.ning.com/profile/MaryAnnTaylorRomero
So originally being from Texas and now working in California, I've come across my fair share of spanish words within the deposition setting. I was wondering how the rest of you guys feel about putting spanish words in your dictionary.
The latest example I've had of this was la tortilleria.
And I've had several cases where the interpreter will say si instead of yes on accident. So, I'm inclined to put that in as well. What do y'all think?

So I've asked this question before in the past.

When you have an all-dayer, do you break your realtime up into two sessions?

I close down the morning job, and then re0open when we come back from lunch.

I find that if I don't, Eclipse has this flashing box that keeps coming up constantly. I've mentioned to the help desk, but they can't seem to help me. Anyway, off topic.

But do you break up your you daylong job into mini jobs?
