Hello, is anybody in the last speed trying to get their last few tests? If so, how are you doing?
  • fran martienau

Saniya have you been going through the CRAH program?
  • Elizabeth Kavelman

I just joined your group and am really looking forward to hearing positive comments to help me get past speed test hurdles. Best wishes to all of you getting ready for your certification tests.
  • Saniya C. Youngblood

No, I haven't been going through the CRAH program. I attend an excellent Court Reporting school in New York. My school added the Realtime Coach to our program. I practice to the Realtime Coach everyday.
  • Glen Warner

I think courtreportinghelp.com is no longer working -- at least the links arent and the emails bounce back.

    Hi, Ashley.

The e-mails bounce because they are going to the old (stenodrills.com) address. You need to send any e-mail here:

    admin@buysteno.com

As for the drills, which ones do you need? If you check the Drill Machine page on ol' Cheap and Sleazy, somewhere on that page is a link to some drills that I downloaded from several versions of courtreportinghelp.com sometime back.

    Hope that helps ...!

  • Adrienne Avery

I am going to school online. Unfortunately it's my only option. There are no school nearby. I would love to sit in a classroom in learn.
  • Lauren Jones

I go to a brick and mortar school.....I have to drive about 20 minutes to get there. I do like the comraderie and the chance to instantly ask any questions of our instructors. The only small drawback I have had so far was when I was when I was in the hospital for a week.....they had just moved on without me.....and it was kind of just up to me to catch up on my own. A little rough, but I'm caught up now.

Hello, I'm new to CSR Nation (just joined yesterday)! My name is Angelia & I got thru Theory at the Court Reporting Institute of Dallas & had ti drop. I'm planning to re-enroll next semester but do online classes only. I moved out of the area plus I have a baby now. I suppose I will have to start all over with Theory so I can refresh on what I've forgotten but I'm ok with that. I just want to get back in!! I'd love to hear how others balance school, work, family. :-)
  • Kim

Happy Monday everyone! Okay....Monday's aren't my favorite. But, my school is having a Fall break, so here I am. My best, personal favorite place to practice is alone in my living room in my jammies!

As far as balancing school, work, and family, it is not at all an easy balance. Most days I go to school two hours a day right now, except on hour on Tuesdays and four on Thursdays. It happens to fall right in the middle of the day so it is practically impossible for me to find a job that I would like. It works out good for taking and picking up the kids for their schools though. I usually try to practice about an hour in the mornings before school......which gives me more time in the evenings with my family. Hope that helps.
  • Saniya C. Youngblood

Hello, I have four children myself and made it to the end of this long road. I been practicing everyday since I started school in February 2007. In the beginning I was getting up at 5:00 to practice for an hour in the morning. Now, I get my rest and practice whenever I have free time throughout the day. I really enjoy practicing to the television and to the Real Time Coach.
Practice does pay off, I passed my first 225 test today. I am so excited.
  • fran martienau

  • Tami

    Congratulations, Saniya!!
  • Kim

    Good job, Soniya!
  • Angelia Bell

Hi Tina! I haven't got there yet but I'm sure most of us will have our plateaus. Have you tried taking a break from practicing? Like completely get away from it for awhile. Just a suggestion. ;-) Good luck!
  • Jaime Stepp

    Hi everyone,
I am interested in becoming a court reporter. I have no idea how to start, what to expect, pay scale (real world advice), job demand, what type of school to look for.

I currently live in Florida but after I am done studdying here plan on moving back to San Diego, California. Is this something I can train for here and also work there?

Are there any national test or state test that I will need to take? I am beyond clueless and looking for any advice anyone can give me.

Thank you so very much! Jaime
  • Julie Guvernator

Belated congratulations Saniya. I want to be just like you when I grow up. ;) Our local libarary has individual study rooms. I get one every day after school because I KNOW I won't be interrupted there. At home, even if I'm not interrupted, there's always that potential, which makes it hard to get into the zone, if you know what I mean.
  • Saniya C. Youngblood

Thank you, the practice really does pay off. I need 4 more test. I really feel like I will be finish this month. I cannot wait to receive my Tee-shirt, that says you survived 225. I practice "The Secret," so I been visualizing my Tee-shirt in a frame. I also been saying 225 is easy.
  • Angelia Bell

    Saniya, whats "The Secret"??????
  • Glen Warner

    Hi, Angelia.

The Secret is a system of goal-directed prayer, in which one visualizes, concentrates on, and puts together a sort of "visualizer board" about something they desire.

I hear it is somewhat successful, but the fact that the people that made the movie are having financial difficulties is a bit off-putting for me.

Eventually, I'll whip up something on high-tech affirmations ... but first, I have to manifest the ability to stop procrastinating!
  • Saniya C. Youngblood

The Secret is, what you think about you bring about. You cannot let one negative doubt get in your head. With school you have to see yourself in school, then eventually start to see yourself finish.
It is LAW OF ATTRACTION! The Secret always works for me. Alot things I have in my life I visualized it before I received it. You should buy the book "The Secret" or the movie to understand it more. It does work! Wal'mart should have it.
  • Joanne Wilson

    Glen,
If you ever get around to manifesting the ability to quit procrastinating, you'll be a bazillionaire!
  • Glen Warner

    Joanne --

Well, looks like I'd best get to work on that ... right after I finish watching this movie ... and after I get to the buncha e-mails I have to answer ... and -- ooh, doughnut!

Hmm. This might take a while ....
  • Saniya C. Youngblood

The Secret really does work! I passed my last four speed tests today!!!
  • Glen Warner

    Saniya --

    Congrats --!

    What did you do, exactly?
  • Saniya C. Youngblood

I just finished cr school. I been saying to myself 225 is easy, and I past the rest of my test.
  • Suzanne Langlois

    Congratulations, Saniya!!
  • Glen Warner

I knew that! I meant what did you do, Secret-wise?
  • Angelia Bell

Glen are you serious....the guys that put out the movie based on The Secret are having financial difficulties?! Yeah that would make me wonder too. But I'm still going to check out the book. =)
  • Angelia Bell

Saniya---CONGRATS, GIRLFRIEND!!! Its so encouraging to hear when someone has made that benchmark!! You will be an awesome reporter!! =)
  • Natalie Rodriguez

    Congrats Saniya!!
If you would like a religious spin on the Secret, there is an AMAZING book called The Game of Life by Florence Scovel Shinn. It is really the principles The Secret is based upon. She wrote it at the turn of the century and it still applies today!
  • Saniya C. Youngblood

Thank you, I will keep that book in mind. I was visualizing starting my first job and I did on Thursday. Everything is happening so quickly, I am so excited.
  • Glen Warner

    Angelia --

I haven't really looked into it (The Secret movie and finances); I just heard it on one of those Different Dictation-type of shows I listen to from time to time; probably one of those on the Paranormal Radio Network.

Natalie, good find! I'll see if I can find a copy.
  • Glen Warner

Saniya, I hope you have been reading and heeding Kyung's blog posts on your journey! They should save you a lot of hair pulling!

Come to think if it, I think I will copy and paste those into a file for future reference!
  • Sabrina Chambers

Hey court reporting students! Any advice on materials for the CSR board English Exam and professional practice? Just getting back on my machine after being off for a couple of years and I'm ready to give another go at!
  • Glen Warner

    Well, howzabout some free dictation?

Does anyone know what kinds of jobs (if any) I might be able to get when I am done with theory?
