Hey, Cassandra. Great idea, starting a forum for the DRA on here. I just moved my SoCal CSR Forum from msn over here, and Monti helped me move stuff over and also make some links permanent.
So if you wanted to create a permanent link to the DRA's real web site on there, just ask Monti how to do it. Maybe you could start a discussion on the mentoring program, recruit reporters for it. You've probably already thought of that.
Hey, Good thing I was browsing the groups & I found this and I said; "When did this start?" I see not too long ago. I just joined at the NCRA convention in July, the DRA. So, I'm home here. Hello to all and will see you in February; hopefully with one of our scholarship recipients. Love to all....aaaahhh, home at last.
Oh, I'm such a dunce. Sorry Cassandra; I mass-invited you, not knowing that you had started this. I read Marla's below and just assumed it was her thanking you for getting her to start it. I must be tired. Anyway, hello again & good job. Didn't take me long to find you/this. See you in February.
Casey Dechter did start this group, but I've been told that she's no longer on CSRnation. Something to do with some political posts that didn't go over well. I don't know. I never saw the discussion.
I just think it's a shame that someone who started a group for the DRA and who's been in charge of the DRA mentor program would not allowed on here anymore.
Though I am a firm believer that politics and religion should never be discussed at a party or on a professional forum like this.
Marla, trust me, the posts were BAD. It was much more than just political in nature. You'd think someone would have common sense not to post such trash. Oh, well, it's over now.
Yeah, I can't really comment on the posts since I didn't see them.
I've asked Monti to put some permanent links to some of the things on the DRA's web site. So, in her absense, Monti and I will try to jazz this group up. Be sure to tell your reporter friends about it. The DRA does so much for reporters in California. I only joined a couple years ago, but I think it's a great organization.
I'm going to the DRA convention in Newport Beach in February. My friend Reagan Evans and I are doing a real time seminar on Sunday morning. I'm more nervous than you can imagine and am still not sure how I got roped into doing this, but I hope we can help some people get over their fear of doing real time so we can all make a little extra money.
It was a great convention!! Good for you and lucky you, Virginia ~ I didn't win a thing. I was hoping to win the mini computer. Oh, well, I had fun and that's all that matters.
Yep, Yvette, "make sure" is one that comes up all the time once you pay attention to it (same w/ I'm not sure). I also started doing "for sure" ~ just use initial F instead of M ;))
It was an absolutely super-informative convention and I love my new friends!!!
So I missed the steno swap seesion; think I was in the Russia one. What's the "make sure" brief? Any other goodies come up?
"I'm not sure" was AOEUMTS
and
FOEURB was "for sure"
:) There are a whole bunch of variations, too, listed in the Brief club ~ definitely check those out!
