How do you become a Proofreader?

i would love to receive a project to learn on. i am a new student in CSR and haven't decided if i want to scope or proofread. i love reading more than writing and am leaning towards proofreading. i know i must learn to write to do anything, but i really would rather read. Can anyone provide a "practice" project for me to learn on???

I've been a member of CSRNation for a few weeks, and I am a new reporter in the Central Coast region of California. I have two jobs that I need light proof work done on. They are each approximately 30 pages, 1 with audio, a second without. I am on Case Catalyst 10.

I have been proofreading for individual court reporters as well as Superior Court reporters for the last 10 years. I charge .35 cents a page unless the job is a rush, then it depends on how technical it is.
