I'm sorry I flaked on you about the sitting in. If you have a slow Friday, that's a prelim day, and I should be pretty busy. I was kinda depressed about leaving my judge after 12 years, so that's why I just took off the last week. First day back today, and it's feeling okay. The new-to-me judge is such a nice guy. I'm sure I'll like it as soon as I get over the lost feeling of leaving a clerk and judge I love.
Clay's probably shaking his head about you joining. Don't know how he puts up with me. :)
Now you know I'm gonna be buggin' you, too!
Clay said you're using the SKP- for "and." So happy to hear it. I still use AND when I can't phrase it. Don't know if I told you that or not.
It went great today. The new-to-me judge is such a nice guy, and he really is making an effort to make my job easy by talking so clearly. I went to high school with his wife and we even had our first jobs together at Sizzler. I was a server, already in CR school, and she was a junior in HS, so I have a little bit of background with him. Just a little. :)
This is my fourth judge, and he's the first one that I've been older. That sucks!
My first judge (actually a commissioner), the one I started working for at age 20, made it a point to make it a big stink the day I turned 21. She was 42. She made it a point that day to tell everyone that walked into the courtroom that her reporter was half her age and that she could be my mother. I still remember it like it was yesterday.
She died of breast cancer when she was 46; had three young children. Sad :(
I worked four days a week, 20-25 hours, four- to five-hour shifts. Got to hating ketchup bottles. :)
Two months before the CSR, I was sicker than a dog. Looking back, I'm sure it was mono, but I don't even remember going to the doc. I missed so much school those two months, and I thought it would really hurt me, but I still ended up passing it.
Guess that's why I'm a little overprotective with Clay not working too many hours. I know how much work it is in school, especially when you're trying to squeeze two-and-a-half years of academics into two years. I think I told you, I had to end up challenging two classes. That's my answer to classes not being offered. They need to give you the material to study on your own. Hopefully the boss lady keeps working with you two.
Make sure you get signed up with NCRA, so you're eligible to take the RPR when you want to. It's $60, I think, and good for a year.
Clay says you're going to an improv tomorrow. Sounds like fun!
Yes, those "yards" are mine. How about the "doors"?? Have you used those yet?
Well, since he's pretty much moving on his B-day, helping him move is probably the only way I'm going to see him. If he moves midweek, I probably won't be there until the weekend to help him. Good thing we have all these boys. Works out great when somebody moves.
No worries about not making it out today. I didn't think it was a very good idea driving out in the pouring rain so late last night. I think your parents were probably thinking the same thing. I had a ton of work to get done anyway, so I wouldn't have been the greatest company.
Did Clay tell you our county is hiring 12 new Officials?? Some straight out of school, I think.
I know the governor just today appointed numerous new judgeships statewide. That just means more work for us. :)
Well, I should be with you two and Stevie Nicks, but since I'm not . . .
The move worked out great today. I was so glad he got the apartment early, so I could go down and get him organized. Think he's going to do great there.
New job is going great. BUSY, though.
Clay needs a proofer. :)
Can't wait to hear how the concert went. Don't know if you're making it to Super Bowl tomorrow, but I sure hope I see you. Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers for half time -- YOWZERS!!
I went out to work last night -- until 1 a.m. -- and got all my RMR tapes for Clay. He said he was looking for some fast Q and A. I meant to bring them home and forgot. It was okay. I ended up working four hours and getting caught up from my busy week.
Nothing like quiet than a courthouse at midnight. :)
Hope you have a terrific week. Keep kicking butt! Clay's playing catch up, I hear. That's awesome!!
thank you! i have stened theory. it's great, but you come back for your endings. i'm trying to incorporate more of my endings in the initial stroke. the d's are really easy to do, but the others ones don't come as naturally. how about you?

Did Clay tell you about Saturday night, or is it a surprise?
He's got to squeeze in the move, too. Just what he probably wants to do for his 21st b-day, move. :)
