It sounds like the Rev is really working for you - that's so wonderful. I understand they have a three-month wait for new orders now. I'm still looking for a few more reporters to push me over the edge. If you're in touch with anyone else with the Rev, please let me know what they think. Better yet, get them to post on this site! Love your new bag!!!
thanks Rhoda! How funny that I received a message from you. I had previously looked through your whole picture album. I don't know if I sent you a note or not, but they are beautiful pics! I love the one with the young man holding his bride in the palm of his hand!! Interesting machine too. Maybe someday I can get your feedback on that as opposed to the Elan or Stentura. Elise
Oh, also, LOVE the Redneck comments!!! Those are awsome. My husband is Cajun, and we just laughed our butts off, and of course, him being from TX, you're not too far from the truth!!!
Hi, Rho. It is me:) Thank you about Niah. She is all beauty and no brains sometimes. lol. I really love your photography, by the way. It is something my fiance is very interested in as well and trying to learn a lot about, so I have kind of have an insight as to how much talent and patience you actually have to have to take gorgeous pictures like that!!! So Glad to be talking to you again!!!!!
It is not rude of you to ask, I am actully from near Colgate College. I'm still another half an hour from there, but it's the closest place that anyone might be familiar with! lol. Very small town, to say the least.
I think that is SO cool that you are going to take the pictures at the pregnancy center, and even more awesome that you have a story behind some of it!! We all need someone like you in our life that has a huge heart and wants to help people. It helps that you are so open and honest too. Guess that's just why you are Rhoda:)
I will definately have Troy look at those websites too! He will by psyched to get some help:)
Well, off to edit! Have a good day... it's Friday!
Rhoda, thanks for the invite! Your machine looks so interesting! What would you say is the most beneficial reason for using this over the traditional writer?
Love your new picture additions. What a great pic of your work area! Looks so comfy. My sister, April Floyd, reads Stephen King as well. I'm sending her over to your page!
Yeah, that's my mom. I just got back from her house 20 minutes ago. I'd been there since Thursday, working on my taxes! She's been plying me with ice cream and coffee to help me ease the trauma. I've just downloaded Quicken, and all my months are in pieces. Some I could download, some I had to calculate by hand, etc. She's an hour and 15 minutes away, but it's a hard drive. She's the best! Enjoy your weekend - Jenny
Thanks for the Easter greeting! I'm not doing anything special this year, but I may pop those refrigerator biscuits in the oven as a treat. April and my brother John are reporters. We've been working together for over 25 years as John got his CSR in 1983!
I'm Jenny's sister April. She has told me a lot about you, including the fact that we're both Steve King fans. I read your comment about "Cell." I listened to it for hours in my car driving to depos. Very scary! "The Stand" is also my all-time favorite. I've read it several times. The movie is also a really good adaptation. Most of his books just don't translate well to screen. That one is an exception.
I'm interested to hear how you like your Gemini Revolution.
Isn't Jenny wonderful? How lucky am I to have a sister like her. She helps me with absolutely everything, including putting my picture on my page!
Hi Rho, hope you had a great Easter. I know we are so busy, but I would love to meet you and have lunch or something! Definately worth the drive. We'll have to pick a time when it's warm out. lol.
That's actually about what it is for me, about 1hr 15mins, I guess. Finally it's starting to get warmer. It makes me not actually mind to go outside. lol. Well, going to spend my day in Marcy Correctional Facility:) Have a good day, Rho!
There were similarities to The Stand in Cell. A little laziness on King's part? I enjoyed it anyway! It sure made the driving time go faster, and I swear the tapes went on for hours and hours. It must have been a huge book! I finished his latest, Duma Key, a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't one of his best - but entertaining.
I love to read just about anything, particularly autobiographies. Truth is so much stranger than fiction! I'm reading For Laci which is by Laci Peterson's mom. Sad. At the same time, I'm reading Eckhart Tolle's book A New Earth that everyone is reading, thanks to Oprah.
Jenny loves to read, too, but she is so busy helping everybody (including and especially me) that she doesn't have as much time as she'd like.
Thanks for the info on your site about the Gemini Revolution. I'm also checking out the Light Speed. They're both just fascinating. I'm really not in the market for a new writer just now. I've got a Stenura 8000. I developed tendonitis in both arms from overwork, cut way back and decided life is too short to work so hard. (Need more reading time!) I'm taking 2 to 3 short Workers' Comp jobs a week, and I don't think I'll ever go back to more!
I loved your "you might be a redneck court reporter" bit. Sent it around!
My tendonitis is getting better, so I don't think insurance would cover my Revolution, but I'll keep that in mind! The upside of getting worse? Thanks for the information.
I never read the Dark Tower series. I'm definitely going to get it now! They made Storm of the Century into a TV movie that was actually very good. I don't think I read that either. Gosh, I thought I had read them all. Guess not!
I went to your photography site and was so impessed by your lovely photos. How wonderful to have such a talent! And how gratifying to be able to give your subjects such a treasure!
Your comment regarding what to do at your first deposition: "First thing: Go to the bathroom." So funny and perhaps the most important advice! You have been spending too much time talking to Jenny! It sounds exactly like her!
No big deal, Rho. Don't mind reading a nice message a few times;) lol. Hope your weekend is going well. Trying to get lots done here. I think I actually might post a question about something on the board:)
Rhoda, I couldn't agree more. I just love reading everyone's comments, and all the great info in general. The problem is I could spend all day on it and get nothing done. One question the Reading section I tried to enter a book and author and am not sure if it went thru. Any points on using this site? You know me and new tech!
Debi
Rhoda, thanks for the comment and spending a moment to visit my page! I enjoyed yours and I really liked reading about that bag. Is that the same bag I have seen in the color pink? Have a nice week!
Hi Rhoda, I want to thank you for adding me as a friend, I need positive people around me that understand me. I do get tired of people that ask me when are you gonna this, when are you gonna do that... and I'm like I am right here right now, and they are like well you aren't moving along then... and I am like they don't understand like court reporting students. So I figured I will surround myself with my type of people.LOL
I was doing Grand Jury for a long time but no more as my agency doesn't have that contract anymore. I do a lot of administrative hearings which I like, some depos. and then a lot of meetings which are interesting but brutal.
Hi, Rho! Thanks for stopping by my page. I'm waiting for spring to come and STAY! It keeps teasing us. April was busy-busy for me; May isn't looking so much, but I've been fooled before! This has been a weird year. I can usually look at the upcoming month and say, "Yeah, looks typically busy" or "Oh, no, slow," but this year, the start of the month has looked scarily slow, but by the time the end of the month comes, I wonder where the heck the month went!
I'd love to have a DAY where I can look at my jobs list and see NOTHING!! Dream on, huh? ;)
Rhoda, good to hear from you! I'm glad you've got lots of work coming up, but please don't burn out as I have. I still haven't recovered from the last three weeks, and I just turned down yet another depo for tomorrow! I've got to get back in the groove by Monday - and it doesn't help that once again I've stepped away from the ice cream! How's the Rev working for you? I guess it's been great or you wouldn't be so pleased to work so hard. I'm still waiting for news from my friend Carolyn. She had some kind of hardware problem and set the Rev aside for a while. I need to bug Jason for some names of Rev reporters on Eclipse that I can speak with, but even that thought just overwhelms me at the moment. Man, what a whiner!!! Maybe I need another cup of coffee. I'm not giving that up! Adore that pic of your daughter near the tracks. You can just see the love and trust in her eyes. Take your breaks - Jenny
yeah, Blairsville is a great little town.
I would love to meet up the next time you are in town. Just hit me up when you will be coming. Culpepper's does have great food. A friend of mine and my bf's works there, too.
I grew up in a neighboring county so I am just living in Indiana for now :)
Rhoda, I went to the chiro yesterday myself! I'm glad those boards didn't wear you out too much. Really happy you can take some time off with your family. No laptop, right??? Last night I read an article in the March - I think - O mag about taking a break from all emailing for a month. If Brenda is reading this, I can hear her gasp! I don't thiiiiiiink so! So, good for you - let's hear it for more vacations! I'm getting ready to go to the Eclipse ESP Network convention in Las Vegas. I leave next Thursday. I'm making note of the airline's rules regarding baggage, etc. We have to carry so much stuff! I'm still doing nothing regarding the Rev, but think about it all the time! It sure seems to be working for you. I just heard from a reporter who is still using one of the older Geminis, and she has no problems with it. Have a wonderful time in the great outdoors - I'm looking forward to more pics! Jenny
Hey, Rho. Thanks for commenting on my blog. I am going to be as informative as I can be. As far as the S/C goes, the only way to get there is to practice, practice, practice. The July/August issue of the JCR has a great article written by Candis Bradshaw. Since you're a year out of school, start practicing for the RPR now!!!
Thanks, Rho! Now if I could just find a job, I'd be all set! I'd definitely be game for an Alfred get-together. I live in Buffalo now, but I'm originally from Rochester. Do you live in Churchville? My parents and my husband's parents live in Churchville/Ogden - we're there all the time.
Cool! Yep, I know Chili very well. I went to Gates-Chili HS and my husband went to Churchville-Chili HS. We both worked at Chili-Paul Wegmans - that's where we met! That will always be "home" for us. Yeah, keep me posted on a get-together. I'm good friends with Renee who recently started at your firm.
Did you do the Simply Steno program? There is a comment in the testimonials section from a Rhoda Collins and I was wondering if it was you.
I'm going to a school but I want to switchto an online school and was thinking of doing the Simply Steno program. I'm working on 180/200s.
The credit hours are going up in price and the cost of gas, plus I scope/proof and the hour and a half that I use commuting, getting ready, etc., I could use doing school at home or working.
Thanks. I figure I need to try something different because what I'm doing right now is not working. I've been stuck at these speeds and even with practicing (before, not now) I wasn't getting anywhere.
I'm close to finishing and I'm hoping that if I can apply myself with his program that I will finish and pass the RPR, which I need to work in AZ. No one in AZ passed the RPR the last two times it was given. So I want to try something new to give me the last push and it sounds like he has a good program, but I had just wanted to ask a few folks who had gone through it what they felt about it.
Thanks for responding. It's been six years (with a baby in the middle) since I started and I'm ready to finish.
It's funny, I have a degree inphotography that I've never used. I'll have to look at your pics when I have more time. Gotta get back to work (probably another reason why I'm taking forever to finish).
Corinne
Hi, Rhoda! I'm wondering if you were going to upgrad your Rev to the Grand. I know the first shipment is due to go out soon. I'm still on the fence. I've been working so hard with the LS, but my computer died on me three weeks ago, and I've had two loaners and will get one more soon as it may be four to six weeks before I get my HP back! What a convoluted sentence! The point is, my three months for the LS will run out in a few weeks - unless they extend me - and I want to hear from an actual Grand user before upgrading my Piper! Any info for me? Still happy with your Rev? Love those new creature photos! Check out the jelly creature I pasted from a site with several free pics. When my brain is tired, I enjoy changing my page - instead of cleaning my office!
Hey Rho. Just wanted to let you know I have a new site on here. lol. Haven't been on in a while b/c I have been so busy with the wedding. Hope all is well!!
Rhoda, I'm so impressed you're working on shortening your theory. I've been too consumed by the LS to pay attention to my theory much these last six months. Are you still happy with the Rev? I know someone waiting for their Grand. I'm still tempted to upgrade my Piper, but the LS is finally better since the last update three weeks ago. Are you sticking with the Rev? I need someone to give me a push!
Ah-ha! I thought you might be upgrading! Well, just keep me in mind. I know you're on CC and I've got Eclipse, but I'm very curious to hear how you like it. Two new words for me: review - RAEFB and finish - FIFP
Been two-stroking them for 30 years! Also love this: I'm sorry - AOEUMS
Rhoda, Jason has mailed me out a Grand to try. Did you get yours yet??? I'm so anxious to hear how you like it. If the Grand doesn't work for me, I'll stick with the LS, but I'm really thinking I need some more feedback from the keys. Only one way to find out, right???
