Tami, Now that Mom has given me another cup of coffee with a side of cookie to spark my brain, I can finally send you my own Christmas greeting! I've enjoyed our long distance time together this year - maybe we can meet in the next - and share more info, writing techniques, and laughs! Enjoy!!!
It is! We spent all afternoon cuddling and napping in one of our Love Sacs in our bonus room....life of leisure. I could just stay trapped in a time warp of this time forever =)
Merry Christmas to you too!!
I hope the kids didn't keep Santa waiting too long last night! What fun that used to be. One time my four girl cousins stayed over Christmas Eve with us. I remember being in sleeping bags on the living room floor and Mom telling us to stay in there because she and my Aunt Virginia were filling our stockings. We never did the Santa thing, but it was still so exciting to see what we'd have the next morning! Have a fantastic day! We're so lucky!!!
(Tami, did you have Mr. Scaffidi in your courtroom on...it would have been, I think, December 17? He was in the middle of a prelim I was on and said he needed to make an appearance in Murrieta the morning of the 17th, and I was wondering if it was your courtroom...small world, huh?)
I knew Wii Fit was going to be hard to find, but I went to GameStop in Rancho Cucamonga and they were sold out, but the clerk called Fontana GameStop and they had one and held it for me. Try a GameStop. I bet there's one by where you live. It is fun. And Bryce is also a fitness buff. He became a personal trainer when he turned 18 and worked at LA Fitness but the hours and pressure to sell got to be too much, and we told him SCHOOL COMES FIRST! So he quit personal training but still works out a lot and plays with the pros in racquetball. The Wii still challenges him! Anyway, it is fun and hope you get one. Kelli got "Guitar Hero" with the Wii and she was having fun with that. So that is another game that your kids would probably enjoy.
Has Clay started working? Is he doing court work? I think that's awesome! I have talked to Kelli in the past about how it's the best career without the degree ever! But she wants to do the going-away-to-college thing which I think will be the best thing for the independent young lady she is anyway. I had never heard about Mark Kislingbury or his steno before. I'm so curious...how does it compare to our Miller theory?
Well, got lots of transcript work to do this weekend...so I'll sign off and look forward to more posts! Peace!
Yeah, I started to do some of the Q & A extensions earlier in the semester, but I have a hard time with yes/no and yes, I do/no, I don't extensions. Half the time I'll hit the Q: Yes before I hear the "... I do," and that will throw me off a little bit.
I do remember Christine...a very sweet young lady. (Were we young ladies or girls back then?) Athletic, too. I think she was an avid skier. I didn't know she had gotten into an accident. Horrible! I'll have to go on her CSR site to say hi. Don't know if she'll remember me. Anyway, it's really neat to be back in touch and also hear about my old school mates. It was a fun time back then...yet stressful trying to reach our goal. Namaste.
Tami, I'm procrastinating - I've got to open up a box of exhibits from a reporter who did took a job for us a few weeks ago. Tons of color copies! It's my job to copy, bind, invoice and mail!!! Be glad you don't have to deal with stuff like this! Just one more advantage of working in court. I got back yesterday afternoon so no more goofing off for me. Have you recovered from all your Christment merriment yet? I wanted to ask you how you were liking your new computer these days. I'm still needing another one - my search got put on the back burner for a while, but I'm slowly turning up the heat!
I am just a wimp. - No, you're not the only one. if Procat has the best softwareYeah, who's passing using Procat? Very good question! LS had some non-operator errors What a good phrase. That's what I've been saying all summer/fall. Reporters are so hard on themselves. They always assume it's them. Not so with the LS. I'm hoping I won't have to say that soon - I'm still perfecting my latest config. I wonder how well Clay will do in that regard - Clay will do great as long as he doesn't start up his own little firm like I did with April and my brother John! Have you put your dix on Clay's computer yet so you can play around with Eclipse???
Tami, why won't you load your dix on his laptop? Are you writing to a floppy these days? If you don't want to bother Clay, I'm thinking you could email me an rtf of your dix and the actual note file, but I really don't know about that. I'd love to translate some of your notes with your dix and show you how great TM is. Until you see it help you with your own strokes, it really doesn't sink in. It would be a shame if you pay the $500 for Procat when it's a nice chunk of the Eclipse price.
Check your e-mail. I would love to see if I can translate over here using your dictionary and notes. That is an incredible story about Gary. I have never tried a smartwriter, but I have had great success passing all my tests on the first try with various stenograph machines. I started out on the avocado manual, then went to a stenolectric or something which felt really great. It had the tape cassette deal on the bottom. Then I went to something that had the tape deal on the side, and then in '99 or so I got my Stentura 6000 LX, which is still wonderful. I do send it away for maintenance periodically. Yes, I have been OVERLY patient with the LS!
Tami, he may be underweight, but it sounds like he's the strongest boy ever. What an ordeal. Let's hope they tell you they learned something great! I have no plans - no more jobs this week. When you get a chance, see if you can get me those files. No pressure. You've got some big fish to fry over there - I'm happy you can take off work for it. Every bit helps, I'm sure!
That pix is from last year. I still haven't gathered them in one place for this year's pix.
I know Clay is bummed to have been so close. And to think, one more error and I'd be right there with him. I've always advocated transcribing every test no matter how poorly you think you did, because you just never know. I passed our state CCR on my second try with one error to spare on the medical :-)
I totally agree with you about the warm-up. Since it's been so long since I tested, I was overwhelmed by how different everything is. We used to enter the testing room, sit down and once the warm up was played we went straight through all the tests. This new procedure is the worst. All the stopping and starting and talking in between totally threw me off. And I had maybe one minute to warm up as well. The test site was locked, and by the time they opened it we had no time to prepare.
He'll be so ready once May is here, and I'm sure the test will be easier than the one in the fall. I know I took it four or five times before I passed it the first time, but that was when we had to pass it all at once.
I'm taking the written on the 14th and I started studying today. I'll be glad to have that behind me.
Dear Queen of Wash, thanks for cracking me up this morning! I'm down here practising on my LS - can you believe it??? I got a really good tran the other day on a small job, so I've been retranning it to see if I can perfect this config. I just now did a CRR tape. Haven't looked closely at my tran yet, but I had 8 untrans. Be sure to take some fun breaks in between all that laundry!
Tami, In case you never got into your e-mail, here's a paste of what I wrote to you the other day:
I just spoke with Edward at Eclipse support. He told me there is an easy way for me to translate using your dictionary and your notes. All you need to do is to get into pro-cat and under some kind of tools menu which I'm sure you have, just get into your dictionary and export it as an RTF file.
As far as your notes go, if you get into your e-mail, stick your floppy full of notes into your floppy drive, and then click on attach and browse to that particular floppy, you can attach a few different files and send it to me.
When I download those files, I just have to put them in a special folder, get into Eclipse and do a few things, and I should be able to translate using your main dictionary and your notes. I think we should give it a try!
Tami, that's too funny about Clay! He needs to join our Eclipse group here. We've been doing some neat stuff with our displays and talking about macros and all. You know I'm trying to push you in the Eclipse direction ...
I do love those glitter things, but it's one more addiction. I'm so tempted, though, after seeing Brenda's page today! Check out my new pic on my page taken this afternoon after singing again in Oakland. Boy, do I need a dye job!!!
Thanks so much for my great greeting, Tami. Those two drinks sure look good! I think we both have a very full, interesting and happy year of writing shorter ahead of us!
Oh, that's so funny. See how Stephanie posted at 7:52 and I posted at 7:53? While I was writing my comment back, her comment wasn't up yet so I was pointing down to what was directly below me: the happy fireworks going off! No wonder you didn't get it!
Happy New Year to you too!! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!! I had two appeals due today, so I was swamped through the holidays. But my husband and my boys helped me so much. My husband did all the Christmas shopping and wrapping, and my boys got the house ready for Christmas, so I wasn't stressed at all, which was very nice.
Wish you the best for the New Year!! And look forward to getting that from you soon!! I'll copy it. No worries!!
That 10-day misdemeanor is what was due today and what I worked on all through December. It turned out to be 1400 pages. I turned it in this morning!!
Yay!!
Hey Tami.
Yes, it's still dead. I sent you a message from my iPhone, but not sure if you got it.
I just got off the phone with Clay, and we covered some depo info. He may want to work in court for now if it's available, as it does seem to continue to be slower than normal. Talk to ya soon...
Tami, you're so suspicious! (Me too!) Why did you think Lisa was talking about someone??? It was a firm/paycheck situation. Go back to my page where she says it got taken care of - yippee!!!
Hey Tami! Happy New Year to you too! Those extensions you gave me look wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing! I can't believe this is the last week before we go back to class. I just got my machine serviced yesterday, and it feels great! I think they replaced the platen so it feels nice and cushy when I write now. :D
Hey Tami, I think Clay is jealous too!:) I'm taking away from his mommy attention haha.
Thanks for the Happy New Year comment.
Qualify in the speed contest?! hmmm. I guess I will have to revise my about me paragraph!
I see we're in cheerleading competition these days! I really enjoyed the movie Bring it on. Did you see it? I'm going to call Jason P. up and speak to him about the Grand this week. I'm doing better on the LS, but I'm so not thrilled with it!!!! It seems like I'm trying so hard to write. I don't know. It's definitely better for my upper back and all - for sure - but I don't think I'll rest until I try all my options. I gave April the HP Mini on Friday. I reallly liked it and now I want one for myself to take on a job. That's such a good benefit to working in court - the fact you don't have to drag everything with you all the time. So are you all peppy this week and back in the groove? Hope so. We cheerleaders need all the peppiness we can get so we can pep up others! I need to look up the word pep. It doesn't even seem like a real word!
Tami, So glad to hear you're feeling better this week! I just hung up the phone with Jason and I will be trying out the Grand soon. He said they changed the pads recently. I was told the bottom of the keys had a squishy feel, but apparently this has been remedied.
This morning April called to tell me that I now have a 5:45 pm depo in SJ and they want the transcript Thursday, trial day! Always something!
Hey Tami, so I was just researching online the most effective workouts, and they said rebounding (trampoline jumping) is the most effective workout! You are on it!!
