Hi, Jessica, Thanks for responding. Yes, I take care of title pages, index pages, appearance pages, as well as reporter cert pages, interpreter cert pages, and witness letters also. If you'd like to talk privately further, my e-mail address is loisw@pacbell.net..Just put as Subject in the message something like "Scoping Inquiry" so I don't accidentally delete your message as spam. Thanks. Lois

Wow! Hi, Sista! I second Kelli's comment. You are BEAUTIFUL. Anyhow, I'm in the L.A. area. You can look me up and read. Maybe you'll add me to your friends list? I always want to try and stay in contact with my brothers & sistas. Peace out & thanks for your time.

Hi, Jessica; It's so nice when people answer quickly. It's nice working in California. I don't know where else (what other states) my license is good in. As far as working like crazy, I can make an argument either way; but I do enjoy it. As for advice, since you are a "court" reporter and not freelance, I don't have much advice. I see you guys as slightly above us and we have the easier job. I have put myself out there, though, for the students. I KNOW I can help them...and it'll take me back to the school days where I can reminisce. It's all good. Well, until next time, okay; and keep in touch. I would say "stay beautiful" but I know you can't help that...it's a given. Peace out.
  • K L King

    wonderful, Jessica. How are you?
  • K L King

No, I didn't learn StenEd. But before the first school I attended switched to Phoenix, that is all they taught. So I have some familiarity with the differences in StenEd. My teacher knew that theory better than Phoenix, lol. I want to meat those who are in other theories, how did you like StenEd?
  • Whitney Kumar

    Hi Jessica,
I like your pics. So you're an official too! How do you like it? I've been working for LA Superior Court now for about six months and I love it. I could never go back to depos.
So do you have your own courtroom and judge? I'm still floating. I'll be eligible next month for an assignment.
    Talk to you soon.

    Whitney
  • Whitney Kumar

    Hi Jessica,
Sorry about the late response. I haven't checked this thing in a while. I've been so busy.
So you're thinking about coming out here to California? I love it here. I couldn't be anywhere else. It sounds like you have a pretty good gig though where you're at, hanging out with the judge and his wife! That's pretty cool.
So I started out doing depositions for about a year and a half and then I came to court. I've been an official now for about 6 months and I love it. I liked doing depos, but now that I'm in court, there's no way I would ever go back.
So you do have to have your CSR out here, not just your RPR. It should be a piece of cake for you, I'm sure.
If you have any questions about the hiring process, just let me know. You usually have to take a machine test and a written exam, and if you pass, you then have an interview. When I applied, they got rid of the machine portion of the test and only had the written. I don't know if it's going to be like that for now on, and I'm not sure what other counties do.
You have to float for 6 months, and then you're allowed to try out for an assignment. The support here is awesome.
So are you originally from Kansas? It would be a big change coming out here to Ca.
So I did the Britney Spears hearing last Monday! It was my first high profile case. It was awesome. It was pretty intense though. You see a lot of celebrities here.
I'll talk to you soon. Take care.

    Whitney

    Hi Jessica,
Thought I would just pop over here and "meet" some new people!! I went to CR school for 3 years, but then changed my major to scoping. Please let me know if there is anything you need! I'm also on Case CATalyst.
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

    Hi, Jessica,

That's so exciting you'll be attending the Anita Paul workshop. I have an idea for you. Why don't you post a discussion asking for some tips you can work on from now until then so you can have a jumpstart on her class. You may get some great new info. Just a thought, Jenny
  • Dawn M.

Hey, how are ya! Class is going ok. I have class tonight and hopefully my instructor will be in. Last week we had a substitute and I didn't like the way she read for the test. I felt she was going too fast. We don't ususually test on Mondays but sometimes we do. I'm hoping to pass a 110 tonight if that happens. :)
  • Kathleen Iuzzolino

    Hi, Jessica,

Unfortunately, no, I'm not on Case. BTW, your vacation photo above is stunning!
  • Nicolete

    Hello, Jessica...
How in the world did you become a court reporter in 24 months? That is incredible! I know you said how it all happened, but really, how? May I invite you to be one of my friends?
  • Nicolete

Your story sounds a lot like mine. I have five children. Their ages are: 19, 17, 8, 5 and 14mo.s. I, like you, have a lot of help from their grandparents. I hate, well I should say that I am definitely NOT in love with math. I've always loved English, but now, I don't know why. LOL. Let me ask you this: Did you use a lot of briefs to gain speed faster, or do you stroke the majority or your words out? Just wondering... Thanks so much for your time, as I know you're busy. I'll talk to you soon.
  • Jill Gelman

    Hi Jessica,
Thank you so much in advance!
    My email address is sojillian@hotmail.com
Love your pictures -- what are you doing court reporting? you should be a model!

  • Nicolete

Thank you so much. I see you've added some more pics to your page. You and you kids look so happy. I love it! Beauteous, huh? That's a new word for me. I'll will be using it... Thanks again for stopping by, and I'll talk to you soon,

  • Sharon Squire

Hi, Jessica. It's nice to meet you! Thank you for responding to my request. I will contact you on your email soon. Have a great day!
  • Sharon Squire

Hi Jessica. I hope you are doing well. Thank you again for all the help and advice you gave me in the interview. I'm sure it will be useful to me in the start of my careeer.
  • Brenda Rogers

    Thanks for "friending" me! :)
  • Joan Hurtis

    Hi Jessica,
I just joined CSR Nation and CC group. I really like your page and photos! This group seems to offer a lot of tip, help and encouragement. It's nice to meet you.
  • Joan Hurtis

That's my grandaughter, Madison, she is sweet but lively is right!!!!! We have a great time together. I have a son, so it's so fun to have a little girl in the family!
She is going to have a baby brother in Jan., she thinks it's great now, but we'll see how long that lasts! LOL
  • Nicolete

Hey! It's been a while, huh?

I'm still workin' hard in school, workin' on 160 Q&A and Lit. and 180 J.C. I'm moving right along. How's work coming along for you? Still lovin' it? Got any advice you would like to share? I would love to hear it.

I need to go ahead and get Usher's C.D., That is a nice song. I hardly buy C.D.s, but I went and got Neo's, cause I love him, and it's horrible. Jennifer Hudson's is nice. I got her when I got Neo's.

Take care, and hit me up when you get the chance.

    Talk to you later,

    Nikki
  • Pattie Walker

    Hi, Jessica,

Thank you so much for the Happy Birthday wishes!!!!

My kids tell me I'm two days older than dirt -- LOL -- but I still love them anyway.

    Sincerely,

    Pattie Walker

    Hello Jessica,
Yes, Simply drag the songs that you want to upload from your itunes to your desktop and THEN upload the songs from your desktop to your CSRnation page.
    Hope that made sense.
let me know if it works.
    thanks!
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

    Doh!!
    Yes, yes.. thats it.
Right click the song you want to uload and select "convert to MP3" then move that song to your desktop then upload it.
    that should work.
    let me know.
    thanks!
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

    Hello Jessica,
i have deleted all the replicated photos.
by the way, you take very lovely picture :0

also, when uploading a song from your itunes make sure you uploading the converted (MP3) song and not the old one. when converting songs on itunes it the old format stays and it creates a new song.. so you will have 2.
I think even though you converted it you still tried to upload the old one.
so, make sure you right click the song and select "info" it will tell you whether it is an MP3 or an M4A.

    thanks!
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

No problem.. i deleted the replicated ones.
don't hesitate to contact me for what ever reason

    thanks!
  • Nicolete

Hey, Jessica... I've actually found out about and started using RPR and RMR testing materials from previous years that are on CD at school. That saves some money, huh? I save them to my computer, and I'm able to play with the speeds and stuff that way. I am, however going to purchase the NCRA's academic testing preparation booklets to get ready for that portion of the certification.

On StenoPractice.com, they have what are called the 800 Most Common Depo. Phrases CDs and Books, which is Q&A material. I'm sure that will be useful since, like you said, you can never get too much Q&A material to practice. I do have the Speed Advantage Q&A Smartbook and access to the dictation for a year though which teaches you phrases and things like that. The only thing about it is that the dictation is for the Q&A beginner, and it only goes to 140 wpm. I wonder if the material is similiar or more advanced terminology and faster in speed.

Hey, thanks for your advice and very valuable information. I know you're so busy. Keep it coming, please. I can't ever get enough.
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

Haha.. I wanted to take a picture of myself so a clicked on the "take a picture" button on my computer and the counter started counting down 3,2.. I realized that I did not have a "pose" ready so I panicked and started throwing gang signs.
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

    Hello Jessica,
Thank you very much for your donation. we appreciate it very much.
and also, thanks for alerting me yet again about the spelling issue.
I appreciate the fact that so far court reporters are not rioting about having me moderate this place :)

How is Kansas doing? cold as heck?
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

Ahh man, The bay area has been very cold lately.
My house is freezing everyday and I dont like it at all.
I really hope it gets warmer soon :(

    Nice acting by the way.
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

    Hello Jessica,
I am from the desserts of Arabia.. lol.
Well, that's just a fancy way of saying I am Arab.

Born in Spain, lived there till I was 9, then moved to the middle eat and lived there for 7 years, then moved to the Midwest (Ohio, Ky and and IL) when I was 16-17 then finally to cali when I was like 20 I think.

It is still very cold here, everyone in the bay area is pretty pissed because it has been a while of this crappy whether.
We have no toleration for this crap! where is the sun??

Since you like to act, here are some videos I made of an ex.

I am actually singing in the back.. lol.

  • Nicolete

    Merry Christmas, Jessica...

I don't have a Sentura Fusion, but I wanted one. I like the option of having using paper or not. I have a Mira, which is only paperless. Tell me what you like and/or dislike about your machine. I would love to hear about it. It could possibly be a second machine for me whenever I become a working reporter like you. I was told that was necessary to have a back-up.
  • Nicolete

I actually did get Christmas and Birthday gifts. They just gave me half on one day and half on the other. LOL.
  • Nicolete

Hey! I'm really excited for you going for your RMR Certification. You've made my day! There is no better feeling than the sense of accomplishment. Always strive to be the best and reach for the top! Go for it, girl! You know you CAN do it! Positive thinking ALWAYS produces positive results.
  • Kyung

    Hey,

It's cool that you have a pic of yourself in your courtroom. It's funny, but we, as reporters, never take pics of ourselves in our workspace. Maybe I'll start taking pics of myself at all my depos.
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

    Happy Birthday!
    Am I first?
