    Hi!
Wow! You are awesome! Thank you so much for getting back to me! :)
I am going to try those, for sure!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Coincidentally, I gave April all my swim stuff today! She's going to try out a free week of swimming at a pool nearby. Wish there was a pool over here. That's so great you're doing that!!! It is good for you. Yeah, it takes some time with the hair issue and all. You're getting many super bonus points from me. And great you can do it together! Very inspiring! Now I'll have to do my tape tonight, telling myself - Gee, Tami exercised today!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

    Tami,
A very good thread here about some features of Eclipse. A student Brenda has been helping is making the switch from CC and had lots of detailed questions. His Q and the A:

I must confess I never did exercise yesterday. When I finally looked up at the clock, it was too late. Today I FINALLY get my massage. Exercise later, for sure!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Tami, I am very lucky to have such a good massage therapist only five minutes away from me. She knows all sorts of stretches and maneuvers to make my tight muscles give up. However, I am extremely, extremely tight and hurty, the entire time I was thinking how in the world can I change my lifestyle so I don't have to go through all this pain. I am at the computer way too much! And now I am sitting here trying to finish up my taxes. I am hoping once I put in a few more hours on the Grand, I won't have to fuss with it anymore - unlike the LightSpeed. Truly, it is taking lots of breaks and regular exercise along with the massage that is going to help my body out the most. I hope you find a good therapist soon. We've both had enough massage so we know what works best for us. My true goal is to never have to get another one, but I know that is unrealistic! At least I can dictate with my Dragon program, which does help. So put your timer on - take your breaks! We need a support group. Well, Brenda and I definitely do!
  • Trevor McCutchen

LOL. Yeh my mom suggested we should form an online group of mom and son court reporters.. I'm sure Clay would enjoy that! hahah I'll have to add him as well. Ne way, I am using Sten Ed, so I'm glad you said it's the easiest theory to incorporate Mark's theory. I'm going to just take little bits and combine with my current writing style, like you suggested.

Actually I was interning in the same courthouse during that incident, but a floor above where my mom was. I heard the gunshots, and screaming, and yelling below me though. I was REALLY concerned and anxious to see if my mom and grandpa (who was the bailiff) was all right! It was terrible because we were immediately on lockdown and I couldn't go check on them. Fortunately they were all right and Judge Fox will make a full recovery. (However, this little event won't deter me from entering the court reporting field!!) :-)

Well have a good day! I might be messaging you in the future if I have any questions, if you don't mind.... I did notice you're a CSR Renowned!! haha ttly!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Wow, that's too much hard work! You better really manage your down time and make it be as restful as possible - keeping up with your swimming, of course! It's raining here today - and cold. We had such a sunny couple of days there - I got used to it! It's easy to do the auto include stuff. I'm not on my Eclipse computer now, but I can give Clay the definition later. He should set all that stuff up while he's not working full time so he'll be ready. Take it easy today. Tomorrow it's back to work!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

I'm thinking he probably should shim the Smartwriter and hang on to it - Good plan.

He thinks Eclipse cannot do that - I think it can. Definitely ask support about it. See, this is a male thing. We women don't care if we ask a "stupid" or "obvious" question to support. We know that sometimes we get a good answer. We pay a lot for support. They should listen to us no matter how lame the question is. They listen to me ALL THE TIME!

I'm glad he's been so busy. That's quite a workout you both have been getting!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Tami, your page depresses me! It's almost spring, for crying out loud!!!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

You must forgive me. I don't have any ice cream or cookies around here ...
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

I did cook corned beef and cabbage today, though - I'm so impressed! I just ate a bowl of cooked spinach for dinner that expired on the 13th. I had to cook it!

Love your page - so cheery! Already going to lose your renowned status? Amazing! Onward and upward!!!

Your lucky son - I hope he enjoyed his bowl of yummy goodness!

I did post Clay here with some instructions. I think they're easy to follow. If not, you know what he needs to do ... yes, call support!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Tami, You should post it above your profile for a while! It's one of my favorites!

Tami! I am so sorry for being MIA so long! My life has been PURE CHAOS lately. The pinky is pretty much back to full function. Only trouble that lingers is writing the #1 with the # bar. I have passed my 150 and 160 JCs since returning back to school, so I know I no longer have that as an excuse for lack of progress.

I came down with a brutal case of tonsillitis that knocked me on my butt for a good week. AND...I have potty trained and moved the twins into big-girl beds. **whew**

I'm finally getting back to a point where I'm feeling normal again and getting back into my normal routine/groove.

Hope you are doing well. And again, I do apologize for not getting back to you sooner. How's Clay? Is he working? How is the rest of your family? Hope to hear from you again soon. Miss ya!
  • KJM

I'm so glad to hear that Clay is working and happy! That's great news.

I have to laugh at "hitting it hard"... funny thing about this injury: it has "softened" my writing, if that makes any sense. I was a total pounder before. I am much more gentle now, and I think it is a good thing. I feel more relaxed and in control that way.
  • Brenda Rogers

    OH PRETTY!!

I will tell Mark hi for you. :)
  • Brenda Rogers

I did! What a great guy! We went about an hour over -- until about 5 -- and I wanted more. I was just buzzing. I got home and wanted to dive into the book and get more and more and was sad to be here instead of there and and

And about 6:30, I crashed. All I wanted was to sleep. I held off until about 9:15, and then started closing things down. Read from 9:30 to 10:00 and OUT like a light. (when you consider I rarely go to bed before midnight, you get an idea of how exhausted I was).

    IT WAS GREAT!!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Tami, Well, you're now at 8000 points before I press "add comment." I guess Brenda's comment pushed you over the edge into Legend status!!! I've always wanted to know a legend! I believe your new diamond looks extremely beautiful with your new springy page! When do you get your Eclipse software so I can start bugging you about its features? Maybe you have it already and are keeping it from me just for that reason!!! Enjoy your Sunday, Ms. Legend!
  • Brenda Rogers

Almost two years! Can you believe it? :)

I really loved the seminar. I really did! I think it was good that I had some under my belt already. Well, it WAS good, because two years ago, I wouldn't have considered spending so much money on something like this. I wouldn't have recognized the benefit of it. The fact that I have embraced so much that you've taught me and have started really *thinking* steno made it better!

He was pretty surprised at how much of his stuff I was already using. He loved our group too and even said he'd consider coming back for a more advanced session!

Legend fits you well, Taz! :)
(hey, when did we lose our smilies?)
  • Alice

    Hey Tami!

Thanks for the heads up on the bootcamp. I'll let people at school know about it. I don't know if I can go, though. I'm super busy this semester trying to do both the CART and captioning internships, and we didn't even start the captioning internship until about a week or two ago.

How is Clay doing? I heard he was having some trouble getting into depos. Mrs. Nichols said the cases are starting to pick up again - she had a bunch of rush jobs to do last week, so hopefully he'll find something to do.

    -Alice
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Tami, I'm so glad your massage helped your hand and shoulder. Numbness is terrifying! You get two full weeks of spring break? That's fantastic! As my work is so slow, I guess I'm getting my own spring break - except why do I feel I'm constantly working??? The Grand is just needing some final tweaking - it's almost there. I'm looking forward to the day when you do get the time to finalize your Eclipse program. Still swimming? Unless you overdo it, that should help your overworked body! I have one job this week and still need to go to my accountant in Fremont. I'll feel so much better when I can scratch that trauma off my list! I'm making an rtf file of some one-stroke words I now need to learn to complete my 3000 most common one strokers. I'll email it over in a regular email later today. Be on the lookout! I realize it may be weeks before you look at it, though!
  • Brenda Rogers

There were 16 on the email that went out to all those signed up, and so I'd say that probably about right. I didn't actually count, probably that many.

When you get up here, you'd better give me a call, girlie! It'll be so fun to meet you!! :D
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Tami, I wanted to get back to you yesterday, but I was way overdoing it - and I'm paying for it now. My neck is really messed up, and I'm super mad at myself. I have to drive home at 2:00. Yes, driving is one of my hardest things, especially as I have a very, very twisty ride getting out of Boulder Creek to work. Don't you have a good headset on all your phones? Don't make me lecture you! I never answer the phone without my headset on. I've got to change my ways, I tell ya! Hope you're feeling fine!
  • Clay Frazier

I don't know. I've never seen him off the phone.
this department is so chill tho. we always get done before 10. then again, we have been going 'til 4:30 in the afternoon.
  • Clay Frazier

oh, and it's so lame. get this. i try to write cotrustee and it comes up cotrusty. so trusty and trustee is a conflict. I never thought of that one.
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

    glitter-graphics.com
Does this look like your daughter? Maybe more than you think while she's talking to you! Yes, you've absolutely got, got, got to get a headset!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

That was great! A much better video than the other one. It's like magic, yet I realize it's hard work and talent! Hope you can get together soon!!!
  • Tina Givens

Miss you too, Girlfriend!! I guess I let the cat out of the bag. Actually taking both the CRR and RMR. Now, before you start lecturing me, LOL, I already know everyone recommends that is not a good idea. Just hear me out.

We are traveling to a testing site 3 hours away, so decided to take both tests to make it worth our while, so to speak. The focus will absolutely be on the CRR and the RMR will just be for grins, if there is such a thing. Literary has always been my favorite, (I'm weird that way) and after 10 years in court I know all the JC briefs. We did some practice RMR tapes and they were totally get-able. I in no way expect to pass the testimony, so not putting any pressure on myself and we'll just see what happens. I'm pretty good at reading through my slop :-)

I just want to stay in the testing mode, you know?? It's like the lottery. You can't win if you don't play. I'm sure Clay will be back in May??
  • Clay Frazier

    Monkey thing?

whatever. I'm not as good as you, I know. I just thought it was a funny conflict.
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

I was her coach in basketball in her junior high years. No, I didn't know that. So she gets her athleticism from you??? Clay has the coordination thing down pretty well too - judging by his awesome pics! Junior high years are so hard - it's great you spent extra time with her doing something fun. So I'm supposed to have a suffix for ee? I'll have to check on that!
  • Clay Frazier

my brain is fried from working. im not following your innuendo. what is a you-know-what?
  • Eloise Vinci

    Hi Tami,

I will check at school and see if anybody is interested in going to the convention. The man sounds amazing. I asked Dixie, our program director, about Mr. Eskew. She said he hasn't taught there in a couple of years, but he is still at Chaffee. I didn't take my academics at Tri. Thanks for all the info.
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Tami, my massage really helped me too - and it's a good thing as I was so, so bad! I'm trying to stay off the computer, but yesterday I finally got out my sewing machine and hemmed two sweatpants. Took them both up two inches. And I remember when I couldn't find anything long enough for me! I'm right under 5' 10". Today I may move on to hemming my two good work suit pants. I also installed Quicken 2009 so I'm feeling very pleased that I figured that out all by myself! Like Clay, I'm sure - we like to figure stuff out on our own. But I KNOW I ask for help way before he will! I'll have to check my dix regarding the ee deal. I can't remember what I do! Another beautiful day here - enjoy yours!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

So sorry to hear your family has been sick and it finally reached you. Yuck is right. It is a beautiful day here today. I drove through the twisty mountain road - Bear Creek Road - to get to my easy workers' comp job this morning in San Jose. Sunny and clear. There are some spectacular trees in full bloom here. Too bad I don't have a camera! It was so nice to finally have a job, no matter how boring and easy and short in page length. I am waiting now, after having taken my nap, for the electrician to come and fix the blown circuit so I can continue working in my downstairs office. I have set up a card table in the bedroom, and there is exactly a foot and a half between it and the bureau for me to squish by.

Yes, get your rest and get completely well, and take advantage of your at-home days with pay! I don't believe I have ever had one of those. I have either been self-employed or have worked as my dad's secretary and bookkeeper many years ago for a plain hourly wage. Any Eclipse news for me???
  • Ian Dawson

Bless you! You're about an hour early, but that just means you're the first :) Hope you're feeling better now!
  • Christine Kirley

Yes, Sara is going. She's on spring break, and the hotel looks pretty nice.

I'll ask Megan about Jessica when she gets home. She has day and night school on Tuesdays and Thursdays -- she's there all day. Jessica sat out with me as well. What a sweet young lady.
Sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I echo your sentiments regarding no consideration when your nose is a faucet and you must keep writing. It's tough. One time years ago I had a sneeze/cough attack. My eyes were watering so that I could not see; I could barely breath, kept writing, until finally, I had to stop everyone. Sometimes these things seem so obvious, but everyone in the room kept talking and completely ignored me. Arghh!

Well, it will be fun to see you in San Diego. Hopefully Clay can join us as well.

Gonna go watch the Ducks with my husband. Looks like they'll make the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Talk to ya soon..
  • Christine Kirley

If you want to book the hotel, go to hotels.com. They have been consistently lower than even the "convention" discount offered.

Good talking with you this morning. Just a reminder, if you could e-mail those dashed strokes for Megan, that would be great. Thanks....
  • Judy

How you been???? I'm moving along, trying to keep current.

I don't know anything about Mark's seminar. Where do I find info on it?
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Tami, please tell me you are feeling better today, Friday. I don't know what I did yesterday. The whole thing is a blank. That is pretty amazing about the Bear Creek coincidence. It is a great name.

I have no doubt that when you feel better and you have some extra time during your two weeks, you will contact Desmond and firm up the whole Eclipse issue. If you could get your machine serviced during that time, that would be fantastic.

My electrical problem got semi-resolved. They need to come back and check something as there is a potential hazard under the house, but at least I am back in my office.

You mentioned a trail class. If you hadn't explained to me what it was, I would have thought it dealt with the woods and the great outdoors!

I can imagine Clay feels a little strange in your home away from home. I think it's the neatest thing that he is actually working now and getting some income to pay for some of that equipment. He is living the dream of all those students still in school.

His skateboard pictures are so awesome, but it's hard for me to look at them! Scary!

With the help of another reporter on the Grand, I was able to make my stroke super soft and easy. I will work with it just a little bit today. I still don't want to overdo. No massage for me this week unless she has a cancellation. It's Friday! You must be counting down the hours!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Good morning! I did get a massage yesterday as Debi had a cancelation! I'm so glad I spent the money as I really needed it. I just had my coffee with two chocolate chip cookies I made last night. Now I'm feeling chipper enough to start cleaning out my office a bit! Any fun weekend plans???

To get you in the mood for your Easter vacation!!!
  • Christine Kirley

    Tami,
Thanks for posting those briefs. We'll check them out. Megan is excited about them. Yes, it's awesome here today. Our biggest struggle after church was in not driving straight to the beach. Our friend has a surf contest at Salt Creek, but too many other to-dos kept us heading a different direction.
Megan left you a message on your cell phone and your work number.
    Say Hi to the family...
  • Chris Renegar

Hey, Tami! Thanks so much for the Happy Birthday. You don't even know me yet you've always been as nice as can be. It was a wonderful birthday and thank you for adding to the specialness of the day. --Chris
  • Candice

Hiii Tami. I don't think I am going to go to this one, but thank you for inviting me :) It sounds like you will all have a lot of fun.

I have been super busy. I'm taking a couple days off right now..enjoying the sun:) Hope all is well with the fam. Let me know how the seminar goes! Hope to see you soon!
  • Alexis McCutchen

    Hey Tami.

I'm soooo jealous. If I could swing it, I would be in San Diego with you at Mark's seminar. Can't wait to meet you and Clay in person, some day soon at another seminar/convention. Anyway, have fun and say, "Hello" to Mark from me and Trevor. Trevor is still beaming after meeting his IDOL...shhhh. You didn't hear that from me!!!

I have a question for you, but would like to write you privately. Is there a way to do that? I'll figure it out.
  • Candice

Yeah I bet you guys are having tons of fun with your new pool! I'm sure you will be having many more parties during summer huh?
Every time I talk to Clay he is in the jacuzzi. How relaxing! I didn't know a bar was going to be put in. Where is it?
Clay says he has pretty much been working every day. He is such an extremist! Such great experience to be in court. I heard you two were neighbors there one day haha that's cute :)
  • Candice

Oh, p.s. I can't help but keep watching the dancing banana on your page lol it is sooo you, just so excited! Cracks me up!!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Hey, Tami, you little wave-maker, you!!! I'm getting my massage at 2:00 and I'm now having my coffee and chocolate chip cookie in celebration! I had a depo Mon, Tues, and this morning. My morning job today was a doctor from the Middle East somewhere, speaking at 260-300 wpm. That's what the counter on my screen clocked them at! I've gone beyond 300 a few times, but it was pretty consistently up there! This is why I called Debi, and she had an opening for 2:00. So we'll be getting simultaneous massages! So glad you're not in pain - yes, vacation is the best! But I'm so happy to have a bit of work this week - you'll just have to believe me. Enjoy!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

She worked on me for an hour and 45 minutes. My left elbow is still extremely bad, and she told me I had to ice them both. Sometimes I'm good about icing, and sometimes I'm not. I'm about to take a real look at my job from this morning. Not looking forward to it! I keep sending people from other forums over to this one, and mainly because of your posts. Keep up the good work!

I love auto briefs so much, you can't imagine. During that fast job I was constantly asking for a brief so I would not have to stroke one extra stroke. Can't wait until you get Eclipse, but I'm not going to bug you. Especially on your massage day. You should be enjoying your relaxed, flexible body right now!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Tami, Wow, that sounds like such a lot of hard work the day you get back. I'm sure you'll be all rested up and ready for it, though.

I don't suppose you want to share the name of your good Eclipse scopist. April took a few jobs recently, but her arms are so bad she cannot spend the time pre-editing them for a scopist. I told her most scopists are used to pretty bad jobs. If she were to clean up her untrans like normal, it would almost be a final copy. It is a holiday weekend, though.

Yes, I need to take my break now and ice. I made chicken soup yesterday, and I think that's just what I need to heal my aching elbows!

Eclipse should call you back. What's up with that?
  • Alice

    Hi Tami!

I'm sorry, but I kept forgetting to tell Mrs. Nichols and Ms. Ravenscroft about the bootcamp in San Diego. I should have just e-mailed them but it was one of those things where I kept thinking I'd remember the next day, and next thing I know, it's already spring break. I'm going to have to start crossing off the days on my calendar. I almost missed a friend's birthday thinking it was still far off.

I'm happy to hear Clay's enjoying court! My friend Melissa's from Indio, so she may stop by and visit him next time she goes back.

I'm doing well in speeds. I just finished all my 160's, and passed a couple of 5 minute 180's. Although, everyone seems to agree the cases lately have been particularly nice.

    I hope you're doing well!

    -Alice
