I can't keep posting because I'm about to lose my red renowned ruby, and I like it. :)

So . . . talk to you later!
  • Tami

Thanks for posting Clay. He's probably going to say I'm selling him out again, etc. :)

I need another seagull. It flew off (talked its way off) my front page.
  • Brenda Rogers

    O+11! (O+12 in your lingo)
  • Linda Pugliese

I feel terrible that I'm not using the LS and it's just laziness/lack of time that's keeping me from playing with it. Things are slow but I'm getting my kitchen remodeled and hubby's convention is coming up so I'm personally really busy. Maybe next week we can get together. Don't you love the Stenocast?
  • Jen

Hi Jenny, thank you for the welcome! I am very eager to get started and excited to find out all I can about court reporting!
  • Brenda Rogers

I wish! I have so many tripts to churn out!!
  • Brenda Rogers

I have only one next week too -- spring break is always slow. Unless I have plans, of course!
  • Tami

I haven't heard from Desmond after he told me he had the software with an extra key. I've been so busy in court. When I called to confirm I wanted the additional edit key -- same price -- I had to rush off because the courtroom was calling. Hopefully this week will be a little slower, so we can get back on the same page.

I'm off for two weeks Spring Break. I take every break off I can with my kids, you know. I should have some time then for sure.

Had a great massage yesterday. I was all numb (right hand) and pretzely (shoulder) until then, so it was such a relief.

    Hope you're feeling great!

    Ms. Legend Lady HA!
  • Tami

I thought numbness was just an everyday way of life. :)

I'm a little sore today. The chiropractor jumped on my neck pretty good, but I think once the soreness wears off, it will be awesome. Probably should have iced it on Saturday and didn't. Then today I had to drive an hour to work to another courthouse, and driving is still one of my biggest pain inducers.

    Is it for you??

That and talking on the phone are the two things -- after full-blown CTS from the machine and QWERTY, of course -- that kill me.

I just checked my email last night, so hopefully within the next two weeks . . .

But I so appreciate you hitting me with those tidbits. I love it!
  • Tina Givens

    Jenny,

Been thinking of you also!! Thanks for writing! Spring break was great and now this week I am filling in in court all week. Boy, I sure don't miss this daily grind! I cannot get on the internet there except for my BB, so I am way behind on posting/surfing. I did see Chuck's msg. Mine are all raised but yesterday I raised them all to around 800. We'll see. Been practicing everyday this week. Just gotta keep it up until the test.

Miss talking to you!! Glad you got the taxes behind you. We're still back and forth with our acct, tying up lots of loose ends. The whole thing is just stressful and yucky!!

I did have one amazing thing happen yesterday. Called my insurance co. about a bill I received for my daughter for $700!! Long story short, I did my best to remain polite and it paid off. They agreed to a one-time waiver and they are covering the bill. YAY!! Sometimes things do go right, lol!!

OMG, I'm running late already. Miss you!!
  • Lauren Deerman

Hey! Thank you so much for telling me about this site! I love it! I have got all of my reporting friends on here now! It is everyone's new favorite site. We are all addicted!
  • Tami

No headsets. I know. I know.

At work I usually use speaker phone and also on my cellphone. I just really limit my time on the phone -- except for my daughter. She talks my ear off, my hands off, and my rear off. :)

Think she gets lonely sometimes being on the other side of the states without her family, even though she loves it in Key West.

Hope you're feel better. I'm getting a massage at 9:00 on Saturday morning, and I'm not letting the chiro adjust me. Everything feels pretty aligned, just sore from the neck cracking.

Do you know how many times I'll proof my posts and find an its for it's and a your for you're??

I'm not re-reading this one, so that's why I mention that. I'm apologizing in advance, but I do know that you know that I know the difference. :)
  • Tami

Well, she's usually wearing a lot less clothing. :)

(Thanks for posting me that. Too cute!)

Another customer (stranger until then) posted another video on You Tube of her doing her thang.

    It's Haylee at Cowboy Bill's.

I have to look past the scantily dressed GEVL to see my baby. :)
  • Tina Givens

    Jenny,

Didn't have to go to court today so here I am in my pajamas at 8:30 in just a total stupor. Fell asleep on the couch at 9:30 last night!! I never go to bed before at least 11 or 12, so I must have been tired. Anyway, I'm so out of it that I just posted a note to Tami on your page, lol!! Took me forever to find that little red X to delete it. I guess I need to start drinking coffee or something. Can you believe in my whole life I've only drunk one cup and HATED it??? I guess I'll never grow up!!
  • Tami

    Thanks, Jenny.

I liked the intro that the guy did. It's so Haylee -- card shark, hustler, and whatever else he said. She can flat play some pool and deal some cards.

She was such an awesome athlete -- softball and point guard in basketball. I was her coach in basketball in her junior high years.

Did I already tell you that??

Anyway, those were some great times.
  • Lauren Deerman

I am already spending too much time on here just trying to see everything! It really is a wonderful place for information! I have already learned a lot.
  • Lauren Deerman

OH my! Well, I have figured out alot about Eclipse that I did not know. Like how to add your picture to the home screen...instead of the annoying Eclipse one! Oh, and how to change my macros and stuff!
  • Brenda Rogers

Forgot all about that ctrl 1 thing! I'll try to remember to do that. I have a couple other things I want to do before I forget them!
  • Brenda Rogers

    LOVE it! Thank you! :)
  • Tami

    Yeah, it was fun.

Actually my best friend from high school (we both played volleyball, basketball, and softball in H.S. together) who has coached college-level girls' basketball came down and helped me coach for two years. She lives about 30 minutes away, so it was so giving of her.

You didn't have an ee and y problem when you started changing your writing over to RT writing??

That was one of the first things I changed early on.

There were a few things Clay would not look at, and that was one of them. If he's come up with only one conflict in these couple years, guess he was right not worrying about differentiating them.

He's definitely got a mind of his own. and I'm glad because he sure wouldn't be as far as he is in such a short period of time if he didn't think outside the box -- and mom's box, in particular. :)

I wrote "resources" this week and loved it. Can't believe I've been two stroking it ALL these years -- like so many other words.

Got another nice massage yesterday and am feeling so much better today. Need to stay off the net, though, so I can keep feeling great.

    Have a great week!
  • Christine Bedard

Well, let me just say, the last 10 days have been a nightmare, since, as you know, I'm SO computer illiterate! Sucks! After my laptop meltdown, I've had to buy all new Evvvverything except a writer. I did a 5-day trial 1 DAY before this meltdown happened! Can you belieeeve that? So needless to say, now I'm 2 WEEKS BEHIND on transcribing it. So again, needless to say, I worked most of the day today - Sunday! Ugh! I guess it's better than house & yardwork! Or NOT! Anyway, sorry to hear work is slow for you. Hopefully that will pick up soon. But w/ this weather being so beautiful, take advantage while you can!
  • Christine Bedard

Oh, yes. No scopist here. But I got caught up on ALL my depos - THANK GOD - before the trial, so I'd have "time" to work on it after. Good thing I planned ahead! But here's my LATEST problem - my external floppy drive has not arrived. Any idea how to copy this 1st day of trial to the CD on the laptop??? When I try to hit ASCII, after it says Insert Floppy Disc, then it says PATH NOT FOUND. Hmmmmmmmm??????? When will it end?
  • Tami

Got paid to stay home today, and it's GORGEOUS here!!

    Thank you, Ceasar Chavez.

It's great being a government employee on days like today. :)

OF course I finally got the yucks that my husband and one of my sons had last week. I'm sure it will go through all of us before it disappears.
I worked through it yesterday and felt like I wasn't going to make it, so at least it was nice today being able to be home sick.

Counting down the days until my two-week Spring Break.

Hope your week is going great, Jenny!
  • Tami

    Sounds like a pretty drive.

I live in a community called Bear Creek. My husband's business name is Bear Creek Estates.

It was named by Jack Nicklaus, as we're on one of his golf courses.

    Such a coincidence!

I've bombed on Eclipse again. I never called Desmond back after he told me about the two keys for the same price. Well, I called him back and court called me within 30 seconds, so I left a message with the secretary that I wanted the second key, and we both didn't follow up.

I'm really thinking when I'm home the two weeks I'll follow through. I'm also going to get my Mira serviced to see if that will help things. It's really dogging it!

Sounds like you need more room! :)
  • Tami

Don't you love it when students finally listen!! :)

It is such common sense. If you don't push, how are you going to increase speed???

Our local school has a trail class. I KNOW you never had a trail class. They have to take a class that they've already passed the speed.

Guess that's why we have a hate/hate relationship. I have no patience for their nonsense, and they have no patience for me opening up my mouth and calling them out on it.

They get their tuition every month until the student goes to the CSR. Let's hurry up and get them out of school so they don't have to pay us any more money. HA!

Sorry. I'm still feeling sick, so patience is thinner than usual.

Clay's working at my courthouse today. Always so fun having him in the building. He says it feels weird here because everyone knows him. He's the shy guy that likes to hide out and not be noticed -- unless he's on his skateboard.
  • Lory Minio

Thanks for the birthday wish, Jenny! How's your relationship with your LightSpeed? Are you in love?
  • Christine Bedard

Connection problem not fixed. Some reporters have said try the x1 or EDGE converter. Yeah, it's almost $1,000. CANNOT do that. So I'm going to try to buy some off a reporter on this site that I spoke w/ last week. Wish me luck. UGH. When will it end?????
  • Lory Minio

Oh, my goodness! I didn't know you had to give up your LightSpeed! I'm sorry to hear that! You'll have to keep me posted on the Gemini.
  • Brenda Rogers

Such a happy picture! I see my old pointe shoes in there. :)
  • Brenda Rogers

Just noticing your page . . . are you feeling blue?
  • Brenda Rogers

Ahh. I never seem to need an antidote from pink! lol
  • Tina Givens

Wow, I'm famous and I didn't even know it. What am I doing in the JCR??? Oh, probably passing the RPR, right??

I am drowning in a sea of melancholy, nonproductivity, and just general yuck! Ha! How's that for honesty? My son got sick Friday night with rotavirus and has just finally gotten better today. Of course yesterday my daughter started throwing up so I have been surrounded by sick whiny children for what seems like forever. I miraculously have somehow been able to get in a daily practice session, but not much more than that. Haven't worked in soooo looonnggg I'm not sure if I remember how to administer the oath, lol!!

Oh, girl, you know me. Just being whiny as usual. I just got the kiddos in bed and poured a glass of wine, so my outlook will be much improved in 10 minutes. How goes it with you???
  • Tami

I'm feeling much better -- especially after I read Tina's post. At least no one around here has been losing their cookies. THANK GOODNESS for that!

I have about 30 days of plans to fit into the next two weeks. :)
  • Tami

    Jenny,

    Where's my spring flowers???

    (I was just on Lisa's page. :)
  • Tami

    Thanks, Jenny. I love 'em!
  • Rhoda Collins

I still have not changed the keys, lol! I did try turning them to the outside to tilt higher in the center, but that made my wrists achey, so went back to my normal....which have not caused any issues, just was getting creative, lol. let me know how it goes! maybe I will attempt to play w/those on the back!
  • Tami

    I'm going for a massage at 2:30.

It's the middle of the day, and I'm getting a massage!!

I don't even feel like I need one either. My shoulder has a ping in the tip -- right at the rotater cuff, so I thought I'd get it worked out and be pain free my next week off. WOO-HOO!!!

I got a facial yesterday, and she gave me derma abrasion for my whole face. I'm looking smooth already today, and it actually really looks the best about a week after you have it done.

    Too excited about that!

Tomorrow I get my hair done, and I'll have to squeeze in the toes.

Man, this vacation thing is ALL RIGHT!!
  • Tami

Middle-eastern doc -- you poor thing!!

I like the ocean, by the way. HA!

When I can't be in it, I must make a few waves now and then. :)
  • Tami

    I swear I cap'd Eastern. :)
  • Tami

    Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

    I'm back. :)
  • Tim Floury

Jenny, thanks so much for introducing me to CSRNation! It's really, really cool, but I have been so busy lately I have just not had much time to look around, but every time I do, I find some really great information -- I just need to figure out where to find it. LOL

Hey, if someone can use an answer that I gave, wonderful.

Thanks, again. Talk to you soon.

    Tim
  • Tami

    An hour and 45??

    You must have been BAD!!

I have a funny -- well, now it's funny; wasn't at the time -- ice story I need to share one day with you.

You're too sweet about telling people to come over a little bit because of me. Probably has something to do with not being able to keep my mouth shut half the time. At least I can laugh at myself and don't have a problem being laughed at. :)

I did call Desmond and faxed him back the paperwork, but now he doesn't have the extra edit key. Not sure to wait or just move on without it.

I also have a call into Eclipse directly but haven't received a call back since yesterday.

My question to them is why should I pay a broker $3100?? Don't they want my money??

    Still waiting for a response.

I got a call Monday that my senior wants me doing a daily copy (death penalty) the day I get back It's only on a competency hearing -- so that means all doctors -- and I'm familiar with the case because I did the prelim in about 2002. He was already sentenced to death, but now they're determining if he's competent.

Sounds like the judge put the cart before the horse, but that's where they're at. The other reporter is top-notch, so I told my senior whatever she wanted me to do I'd do. I don't go running around looking for the dailies. Sounds like this one's tough enough where no one's fighting for it.

Anyway, I think there are other dailies coming up, and I still have that Eclipse scopist that would be really nice to work with on a daily. Think I could send my portion to her and never have to look at it again.

I'll wait to see what the Eclipse salesman said, but when Clay talked to him in December when he purchased Eclipse through Desmond, they wouldn't touch Desmond's price.

That got out of order. Sorry about that!

Keep icing! Ice is so healing!!
  • Tami

Homemade chicken soup, that's the other life healer!!

I had to beg this scopist away from an agency owner she's been working for, so she's not looking for work. She used to do a lot of my work (She used to be on Procat) and always begged for more. She said I was the gravy train. When I stopped using her after getting assigned to family law for two years, I lost her.

So . . . I called her in January and told her about Clay and guaranteed her he'd be up to my caliber in no time, and she jumped on it.

He's only used her twice, but when he starts getting swamped, I know she'll keep him on the straight and narrow.

I plan on her helping to train me on Eclipse. It's so scary to bite, but I definitely have so much help at my fingertips. I was reading the Total Eclipse group here today, and I just really can't wait. I think it will help me keep the brain a little sharp taking it on, too.

Talking about sharpening the brain, I can't believe I just pulled out Janet Moxham's name as the reporter for O.J., and I think I'm right. After I posted I went to the CA Board site and ran a verification on her license, and she's current with a 4000 number. HA!

After being in that cloud for so long with that head injury, I just get so thrilled when I pull something out of the clouds like that!!
  • Tim Floury

Thanks, Jenny. I guess I was pretty happy there. We were on a cruise ship just pulling up to San Juan to doc. It was February, and I'm from Michigan, so there you go.

    Talk to you soon,

    Tim
  • Tami

    And she sings, too!!

I picked up a message earlier today from a student who sat in with me a couple weeks ago. She first sat in with me in the Fall, and I filled her ear about writing short and practicing the MK way. She said I spent about three hours with her, and I bet she's probably right.

So she obviously listened because her hands were really calm the day she sat in with me recently -- even though it was a nightmare day.

I told her this last time I noticed her hand speed, and she said since the first time we met she had started incorporating a shorter writing style, tucking endings, etc.

So before she leaves three weeks ago I make her promise that she'll sign up for Mark's Club. When you're paying $900 a month tuition, an extra $29 isn't that easy, but she promises she'll do as I say.

She has a qualifier the next day, and I tell her she probably won't get that one, but I could pretty much guarantee she'd get one within the next two to three weeks. I also told her she'd hate me because it would hurt her brain, etc., but I knew she'd get the results -- especially after seeing her write.

So she calls me today all excited, said she did EXACTLY what I told her to do, and she nailed a qualifier within the short period of time I told her she would with only 20-something errors.

    Totally made my day!!

She said she couldn't wing the $99 for Saturday, but I called her back and told her I'd cover it and she could drive down with Clay and me. Hopefully she takes me up on it.

    Pinch me, I tell ya!!
  • Tami

I roomed with three other friends, and three of us passed. I don't think the other girl ever became a CSR.

I think Janet probably was closer to my class than yours. I think she was a late 4000 number, but I am shocked I pulled her name out. I never personally knew or or even met her. I just remember her from the notoriety she got from being the reporter on the big case.

    Talk to you later!
  • Stacy Tegner

Hey, Jenny ~ so good to hear from you. How are you?? I was up in Tahoe this past week ~ just got home tonight!! It was nice and relaxing, but pretty stormy (like here, huh?) ~ although, Monday was beautiful up there ~ short sleeves and we went to a park!!
So how'd your second job go? Are you loving your new machine?? I'm actually loving the LS now ~ finally!!
Work seems slow to me. I've been pretty busy w/ family and kid stuff, that I've only been able to work about 2 days a week and have been lucky that the few jobs I'm getting are at least sticking and I'm getting pages, but the phone definitely isn't ringing off the hook. How's it going for you? I keep thinking spring (NOW:)) it will pick up ~ any time, huh? I always think that I should enjoy the slow time, because before you know it you get slammed. SO maybe I shouldn't enjoy myself this week or next week, and then I'll get slammed (fingers crossed:))!!
    Have a happy, happy Easter!!!
  • Brenda Rogers

Are you back?? I'd cry without my fix. Dancing muscles are fine. Erik took my Monday afternoon for me -- he did great. We're meeting up this afternoon to chat. If he can do the CART crap he's been doing, he can do depos!

    Where are you going?
  • Brenda Rogers

I probably read Jeremy's post, but I don't remember it. Did you see my new one today?
  • Tina Givens

    Jenny,

You've been busy! Love the flowers and the beautiful Easter graphic you sent me. Easter will be quiet for us -- just hanging out and eating candy. Tonight we will dye eggs. Just trying to get my house somewhat clean.

Had several dr depos this week on the same case that were all expedited. UFL they were all short. So I'm all caught up again. We're still super duper slow here.

    Are you signing tomorrrow??
