Thanks, Jenny, for the wonderful birthday wishes. I really appreciate it.

    Have a great Easter!!

Thanks, Jenny. I love court reporting, but I also love to get away from court reporting! LOL You know, my kids are growing up so fast -- 19 and 16 next month, and I really feel like I'm missing a lot of it, that's why I love to look back at these vacation pics so much and I wanted to share them. I also love anything with a tropical flavor to it, if you know what I mean, so the music and pics make me feel like I can get through the winter.

Thanks for stopping by and I'll talk to you again soon. I'm off to add some of the conflicts that you-all posted. Love it!!

    Tim
  • Tami

Check out "so that" under briefs.
  • Tami

    That's his "remember," too????

Guess we should run this one by Clay and see what's up.
  • Tami

No, I mean that really is his "remember."

So . . . I posted Clay to see what's up to try to make sense of it. We'll see if he gets back to me. He's getting pretty swamped.
  • Tami

    Yeah, swamped with work.

He's still working out the bugs, but I told him he'll start getting more efficient as far as getting work out.

Yesterday his "box" disappeared again. His default obviously is without a box, so he was trying to figure that out.

Of course that stuff scares me because I know I'll have the same problem when I make the switch, and I haven't had to worry about not having a box on my page in a very long time.

Oh, and the Eclipse salesman finally got back to me. He said he was on vacation two weeks, so that girl that just went CC on the main page is right. Eclipse was not nearly as responsive as they should be, and I'm not shocked they lost a sale over it.

This is actually the second time I felt the Eclipse salesperson dropped the ball.

If I heard things or experienced things like that with the support, I would run, but I know that's not the case. I can't believe how quickly they call back Clay when he needs support -- even on the weekends.

Just rented two movies -- Yes Man and Seven Pounds -- so I need to go cuddle up with the hubby and have another lazy day. YIPPEE!!

It's going to be so hard going back on Tuesday. :(
  • Brenda Rogers

Jenny, I was eavesdropping on your convo with Tami. I use -RM for remember -- not changing that one. I'm trying to -RM to use -R for really, and I use -DZ for did -- EUDZ, UDZ, THEDZ, WEDZ.

Then I blow it with he and she and who. I use DZ for does with those - SHEDZ, EDZ, WHODZ -- and *DZ for did. With I, you, we, they, *DZ is did. ACK!! If I were to try it anew, I'd stick with one meaning for DZ.

BUT if you don't use DZ for said or decide or something else, it works well.
  • Tami

Jenny, I think you'll find that there are so few -DZ -ing conflicts.

I use mine to death, too, and the conflicts are so few and far between that it is really worth adding, and it comes so quickly. It's amazing.
  • Tami

Oh, you were talking about if for "did," not "-ing."

Guess I was eavesdropping, too, but not reading the original source. HA!
  • Rhoda Collins

I have been BUSY the last month!! :) Working HARD on some parole boards right now....have to run a tript to the office...got a call for zoning boards for the other CR I am working with, tonight at 7pm! I have Glamour sessions on Saturday from 9am to 3pm!!! Monday have a long depo!! My boards are DUE TUESDAY! LOL!

I will make a note and maybe if there is a break at zoning will look at the screws, lol. I'm daring like that...plus will have the machine out. Usually it stays in my bag ready to run.

I have the Tablet, have had no issues....
  • Rhoda Collins

LOL, I need time to take a walk with my daughter, LOL! But w/the Gemini, I have not needed the Chiro in a LONG time!!! Plus, the Radio Shack amp system is awesome! I'm very rarely exhausted or whipped after long jobs. Now, my last Glamour shoot?? I was hurting! LOL! Felt like I did a wedding! ;)

I'm excited to have some work. Also not using my scopist, as I just can't afford that. I'm SO behind in bills from being slow!!! Is there other CRs you can contact for backup work?? That's how I 'fell' into this CR and I love her! She's been reporting since '72, lol. She's SO nice too!!!!! 3 jobs this week from her! None from my firm, lol.
  • Rhoda Collins

Congrats on Stenocast!!!! I'm not ready for realtime, lol. Yes, is a catch 22 on the elbow issues. I have to run downtown and go get my DD after, make a fast dinner and leave at 6pm!! Hopefully it's short and I can do a few more inmates tonight.....ok, that reads REALLY funny!!! LOL! Do The tripts, NOT the inmates! LOL!
  • Tami

Okay. That makes sense. I thought I was losing it again! :)

I used the TAUG and WAUG waaay back when, and I probably still use them on occasion, but you got to work in that -DZ -ing. It is sooo easy.

Just started the Magnum Steno Fan Club. Should be interesting to see how it goes.
  • Tami

Okay. I'm writing the check right now and getting it sent off.
  • Tami

So I just checked my email, and Eclipse is matching the broker's deal and adding a $100 training certificate. :)

I posted back to make sure that was out the door -- no taxes, so we'll see.
  • Tami

    He's so cute! Thanks!
  • Lorna Brodie

Where do I find the Magnum Steno Club?
  • April McMillan, CRR, RPR, CSR

    Hi Jenny,
Your -T and -D idea sounds good.
Unfortunately, I won't be taking the RMR in May. Haven't had time to practice. Almost lost my dog couple of months ago. He's got diabetes, needs 2 shots a day and is 80% blind - happened really fast, and just recently he had to be hospitalized for Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
My kitchen looks like an urgent care center!
Need to send my Mira in for service to fix its stacking problem, too!
    Calgon, take me away . . .
  • April McMillan, CRR, RPR, CSR

    Jenny,
November's the ticket for me. My writing is already so much faster just by incorporating new outlines from Brief Club and BriefPedia. Just got off the phone with Steno Doctor here in Orange county and, YEA!, they have a technical fix for the stacking problem. My Mira goes in next week.
    Hallelujah!
  • Christine Bedard

Same to you, my friend. I'm gonna watch the rest of the Giants game then hit the rack!
  • Rebecca Callow

Thanks for putting the CRR tips up there. Like you said, hopefully they will benefit someone.

Ah, yes, the good ole DZ for ing. I took a seminar with Mark several years ago. I did what you are doing quite some time back. I LOVE the stroke savers. I would love to learn MANY more too!
  • Rebecca Callow

You'll have no problem. Concepts are so much easier than learning a bunch of new arbitrary briefs. In fact, that is how I try to learn everything now, as a concept rather than an arbitrary. Getting older...
    hee hee
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

    Thanks a lot Jenny!
Your a cat person like me..
is the blond cat a female? cause my female cat gets most of the attention.
if i give the male more attention she attacks us both.. you have to see it to believe it.. she will charge us both till he runs off.
she is incredibly jealous, its hilarious.

  • Kelli Combs (admin)

wait, i just realized that we cant count down to 4000, since we are counting up.
    Doh!
  • Brenda Rogers

    Adorable!
We're going to have a beautiful day today! Already nice. Going to be 80+. YAY!!! I am SO ready for nice weather!
  • Alan Peacock

    Jenny,
Thanks for the welcome. Chuck Motter pointed me in this direction. neat place. The Rev is a cool machine. I was on a Piper before so I really like having the extra space, you know? But I am constantly tweaking the adjustments. Seems like I get it just right and then tweak one thing and have to go at it again. Jason is very helpful. But still, I am not getting it to tran exactly like I want and the numbers aren't the same as on the Piper. So I would love it for depos, but I'm thinking about replacing it for my on-air work, just bc I can't seem to get it tweaked like I want. So I'm happy with it, but may relegate it to be second chair or as an off-air machine if I can't get it like I want it.
  • Brenda Rogers

My snowy kitty is there! :)
  • Marlene Tucci

    Hi Jenny:

Nice of you to respond! We'll be in touch!!
  • Rhoda Collins

"They're right above the black rod the pods rotate on"....ok, finally took a second and I don't have any back there, LOL! There are no screws back there at all.....do you have a pic??
  • Rhoda Collins

'inside' the key area?? I have 'no' screws of any kind on the 'back' of the unit,,,on the outside area where it attaches to the rotating rods. I see two 'taller' screws at the back of the 'key' area.....
  • Rhoda Collins

I put up pics of mine in a blog post, lol!
  • Rhoda Collins

ROFL!!!!!!! Will do that, Jenny. ;) NO problem!! :) Thanks!!!
  • Rhoda Collins

Ok, turned them!! Will see how my job goes tomorrow night, lol. Have a public hearing. Will be a busy one too, I just know!! A high profile one!
  • Rhoda Collins

Yeah, will play a bit more tomorrow. Job is at 6:30. Tripts are caught up, so can play. Have pics to edit from my 2nd Glamour sessions Saturday tho, so will do those tomorrow too. Thanks for your help!!! Excited to see if I feel a difference.
  • Tami

    Too cute, Jenny!

So I must have saved it from a drowning death, and there he goes and stings me. I wish he was really that cute. :)

So Eclipse says 3100 plus tax, and the broker doesn't charge the tax. I requested one more time to please let me buy it direct -- of course I promised them I would try to be right with those top seven Eclipse realtime contest qualifiers, but they probably don't need another one. HA!
  • Tami

Hey, what's with Rhoda filling up your page?? I thought that was my job!
  • April Floyd

That is so sweet! And I never saw the ultracute bunnie you send on April 10! Adorable.

Karen is here. She's running around doing things for me. She's going to take me to the doctor at 3:00 and then some errands if I can stand it. Tomorrow I'm going to take the laptop you gave me (which I use all the time - what a lifesaver!) and just browse around on CSRNation to catch up on what's going on.
  • April Floyd

BTW, I still can't find me in the collage! I'll look more thoroughly later.
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

Yikes! just read your Roger post. dont know how I missed it.
Roger is getting lots of attention for a male.

Did you see my SOS cat video in the Magnum steno group?
  • Tami

So have you cleaned up the coffee yet?? :)

Eciipse said no. I'm not all that important, so I figured that would be their response. I am really going to write the check right now and get it in the mail. I'm tired of farting around. (You didn't lose your coffee again, did you?)

There's a chance I might get a new judge as early as next week, so I really need to move on and get going with the new software so I can use that scopist I told you about.
  • Rhoda Collins

yes, I only use the left side. I really didn't notice a difference, lol. Seemed fine, but not much of a depth difference...touch difference...
  • Rhoda Collins

The hearing went pretty well! working it up right now, as they want it ASAP, of course, lol. Not seeing stacking, which is good.
  • Tami

Leek and potato soup sounds so yummy. I am such a soup person. I could eat soup five days a week and still feel left out two days. :)
  • Tami

    It's beautiful here outside, Jenny!

I cooked artichokes today and, while they were cooked too long because I forgot about them, they were delicious. (I was making a tamale pie and wet burritos for the boys and forgot about the artichokes.)

They came from our vegetable garden. Everything seems to taste better when it comes from the garden. :)
  • Kathy McLaughlin

Jenny: I found your name at Greta's page. I was writing to her to see if she had any tips for my LS. I am at the point where I want to either throw it against a wall, stomp on it or -- well, if you've been frustrated with it, you understand. My machine was fine until they overtook the machine through the internet and did a firmware update. Then it was all downhill. Mark K. got it working last week but now it's not working again -- sometimes intermittently but I can't trust it -- and even if not in front of the writer, keys begin firing off and writing is garbage. Wait three hours and try again and it works. Go figure! In the meantime, I cannot use it for any job and it is sooooooooo stressful for me that it's not worth it. Do you have any hope to give this reporter? I now carry my old writer AND the LS so things aren't lighter for me at all and clients are fed up with me trying the LS and it failing. HELP!!! Looking for hope, Kathy (in Vista)
  • Tami

    Jenny,

When our daughter was giving us fits at age 16, we made a family decision to send her up to Monterey Bay Academy for her junior year in high school. It is an Adventist boarding school. She wanted to go, and we wanted her to get away from a few undesirable peers, so . . .

That's when I saw my first fields of artichokes. I thought they were amazing.

I didn't know they grew here until our 17 YAOERLD was in the third grade and had a wonderful teacher -- earthy, holistic, etc., -- and she turned us back on to gardening. My husband and I both were raised with vegetable gardens, so we were pretty easily won over.

My neighbors and friends see the artichokes and freak out. Our garden is on a tee box on a golf course, and the golfers will hang on our fence, looking at the garden, and the one thing that freaks them out is the artichokes.

They bloom absolutely beautful, too. They look like a giant thistle.

I really want to try asparagus and broccoli. That same teacher told us they grow well here, and we've never found them in the stores here. She told us we needed to mail order them.

Boy, it breaks my heart reading Kathy's post and reassures me I made the right decision of sending mine back as early as I did.

    Anyway, have a great Monday!
  • Lorna Brodie

    Hey, Jenny,
I went to the Magnum Steno web site after we got off the phone. They are having a seminar in Vegas June 6. Funny, because I had just been checking out prices for going to Vegas for a trip...just might do this one!
  • Linda Pugliese

I hear ya about doing your own work. Hate to do it but you have to keep the doors open till it picks up a bit. It seems to be picking up, but I won't hold my breath. We get as many cancellations. It turned out both my 3-day arbs went kafluey. A lot of waiting time for the reporter today and settlement and tomorrow's supposed to be one day only. Are you going to Vegas? I've signed up just to do something other than my husband's stuff to keep my perspective.

I know someone who wants to buy my Lightspeed. Should I give it up since I haven't touched it in 6 months? If she buys it she'll probably call you for tweaking. Maybe she'll have better luck than I did.

Gotta get back to packing for a mini trip to Sacto tomorrow morning.

    TTYL - Linda
  • Brenda Rogers

I literally gasped at the beauty of that picture! Thank you!!

    It's just . . . a day. How did you know I needed that? :)
