Oh, it took me another hour to fix all my speaker table macros and such! They sure were messed up. When I recover from it all, I'll post over on MTR - unless you want to!
Okay, I'll do it, but it may be a few days. I'm obsessed with getting the Grand in gear, and I need to finish my only two jobs. I wonder how many people actually don't use hyperkeys. Maybe there should be a show of hands, and we can "convince" them of the error or their ways! *evil laughter insert*
That kind of makes me want to scream and cry at the same time! It's hard to see people working harder than they have to, yet I do it all the time with other things - just not editing. Just for the ease of changing a comma to a period, it's worth it. Sillies!
How did your big depo go yesterday? I read all those seating chart messages on MTR this morning. I haven't tried it yet. I'm glad Lisa said the color was in print commands. If I leave the buffering, at least I can change the color. But really, why would I need the buffer??? I must not be awake yet! I have to leave at noon today to get to my job. I'm meeting a petitioner at a Starbucks on the way to my WC depo to give her my no-show transcript from yesterday so she can give it to her attorney at court tomorrow. Big divorce case. It's been going on for over five years!!!
I should have known you'd have work to do after being out yesterday. I have one small job to finish as that's all I took last week. It looks like I'll have one job this week as well - just to make you feel better about at least HAVING some work!
I was really curious how you'd like it. You've become so advanced in your steno thinking these past couple years -- has it been years plural that we've been friends?? -- that I wasn't sure if you'd be as excited as I was when I first went to his bootcamp.
Now you know why I've been such a broken record. :)
Guess you created a "legend." I kinda liked my ruby, but I guess diamonds are a girl's best friend, right??
I think it's that Portland thing. I keep hearing how wonderful Portland and the people are. If we don't make it this year, I know we'll be there 2010.
A girl I went to school with -- the whiz kid in the class a year behind me -- owns a condo in Portland. Since we had the "whiz kid" label all those years ago -- aka the students who worked the hardest on a daily basis :) --
I think we felt a connection, and now after all these years we've got to reconnect. We've worked for the same county for a long time -- her longer than me -- but we were in courthouses two hours apart. We're finally in the same courthouse.
So, anyway, she has shared a bit of her love for Portland with me. Then I think Mark and Brian on KLOS was talkin' you all up, too.
Anyway, makes sense Mark K. would be willing to take a second trip back.
I'm just still so excited you went to the seminar. About how many attended, do you think??
I need to get on the stick and get my coworkers all pumped to go to the San Diego one in a couple weeks. It's about an hour away from us, and the more the merrier. :)
I guess I just missed you here. I'm dictating! This afternoon I updated to Quicken 2009, but I'm trying to stay off the computer as much as possible. Right now it looks like I may have two jobs next week. We'll see what stays on. You never did post regarding the control one, control two, did you? I still feel bad about that. I think it would make a good post. More blabbing later, Jenny. Just about every time I dictate my name, I get Cheney! Must train my own name.
Hi, Brenda! Love those Peeps! I'm waiting at a depo - hope it's easy. They have a puppy here - it better not bark or howl!!!! I'm going to try to use ST-T today. I'll let you know! It's raining today - we still need it, but I was getting used to the blue skies! Hope you have an easy day - later!
Brenda, what a great page. I just found CRNation in the last month or so (thanks Jenny Griffin). Anyway, I haven't had much time to look around, but looks like you have!!! What a really cool page.
Brenda, I sure was taking my morning Internet fix for granted! Still don't know what I'm doing today SFRS getting out of town. What's happening with you? How did those jobs go with Erik? How's your dancing muscles???
I was semi-planning on going to mom's today so I could sing at Donna's church this weekend depending on my pain level, but I just found out that mom is going to have a guest staying in "my" room at her house so it doesn't look like I will be going after all. I'm really not up to it, but I was trying to force myself.
Yes, we got the Internet back last night. It was a major deal over here. I had to use cash at the grocery store. No one had ATM's working, etc.
I have a job I need to get out today, and am halfway done scoping - by voice, of course - another one.
I want to take another look at the whole phonetic untran/auto brief issue as well. I do have some weird things in my phonetic table that may be affecting my auto brief suggestions. I'm assuming you read one of Jeremy's posts yesterday. I must have a mental block about this, as I know we have discussed it before!
Good for Erik. I am impressed!
Oh, the dog that was at the depo? He made so much noise - scratching at the door, whimpering - that they let him in the depo room. He was very good once he was in there, and I couldn't even see him as he was sitting at the feet of the attorney. The entire office was trashed as there really are two puppies, but one was at the vet's. I don't like dogs around my equipment!
That was a phrase in that stenotype book you sent me.
I didn't find anything on the inflected endings, wide keys, etc. I don't think they were using wide keys during that era.
Thanks for sending it to me. I thought it was absolutely amazing!!
I think my theory book had some of those same business letters in it. I know that not from 30 years ago, but when I taught Clay theory, I got out my old Herman Miller theory book and dictated the letters in my theory book to him.
Hopefully we're all getting back on track here!!
Thanks again, Brenda, for taking the time to send me that. You know I love anything to do with steno history!!
UFRNL, I use -DZ for too many things. Even Wednesday is WEDZ. I'm going to have to give the did thing some though. I've always wanted something. It's cold and windy here. At least our only power failure yesterday lasted just a few hours! I bet you're cold up there!
Yeah, so many things (conflicts) we learned to just differentiate by context, like that SIG for signify, significant, significance. That's exactly how I learned it.
I'm loving the Club. I think my husband is hating it, though. Keeps walking by and smiling and confirming, "Thought you were on vacation?" :)
Oh my god.. I think LOLcats changed something in their code.
it no longer works.. I will investigate it more and get back to you when I find out whats going on.
We're bracing ourselves for heat today! I'm on Mom's deck, having my second cup of coffee, and you can't believe how gorgeous it is out here right now. Did you see the pic I put on my page of Mom's newly painted shed with the flower boxes? It's right in front of me, looking even cuter. Several roses are in bloom, and her pots full of flowers are thriving. We won't be able to come out here later today, but I'm enjoying it right now. Hope you've got some nice weather going on!
Hey, I saw your LOLcats, but now they're gone! My 1:00 went off and now I just have a 3:00 expert. I'm still sitting out on the deck, but lost my Internet for a while! Hope your cats come back to stay soon!
What a kick to have Mark K. here. I'm thinking everyone will make a greater effort now to use his principles. I know I will. Now when I'm scoping my tiny job from yestereday, I'll see where I could have used something but didn't. When I was at the job, I was so distracted with my iPaq not working properly, it's a wonder I got anything down. Jason is working on a software bug, but who knows when it will be fixed. Hope you've got another pretty day in Portland!
I'm a bit psychic! I'm in a stupor over here, having been overfed by Mom, so I picked up on your vibrations! Now I've got to go make my little bed then have an ice cream bar before reading another Enquirer. I think you need to do the same! Got any designer ice cream around there???
Your page played O Fortuna for me. Love that piece. Alan and I actually performed in the chorus of Carmina Burana at a community college in the '80's. I'd do it again if the opportunity presents itself. Haven't thought about that in years!!!
Yes, shuffle is good! Pretty page - I forgot about Mother's Day! Hmmmmmmm
My email is down. Yahoo mail. We had a mini power failure here, but that was way after the email issue. Good thing I was able to print my rush job out. I'm hand delivering it tomorrow.
Hi! Today is April's birthday! I'm only on page 89 of 159. It's the slowest scoping job ever! Tons of exhibits and quotes. I never should have started writing quotes. I regret it! How's your scoping coming along?
Thank you, Brenda! I just loved the M&M birthday greeting! I used to have a big red M&M man dispenser where you put the hand down and M&M's would fall into your hand. I would hit that hand often, I'll tell you! Your greeting brought back lovely M&M memories - also a craving for M&M's! Not that I didn't have enough birthday cake and cookies today!
I know how much you love people quoting Morson's! Ha! My job was full of Bates stamps. Yuck! I'm almost done except for a spellcheck. That will have to wait until tomorrow. I did get out again for a while. Hope tomorrow's weather is just as nice for you as today's!
You seem like the very best person to ask on this, so I hope I am not annoying you with it. lol. I want to get the pink LS very soon and so I am looking at this computer also: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10859091.
Are the specs up to par for what I would need? Thanks!!!

I really think it's the dang captioning companies that sent everybody south in the mid/late 90s.
Did you do your free week of the Steno Club after the serminar??
I've hooked up twice.
I never used the "so that," and that stuck at the seminar -- finally. I knew about it before through Clay, but just never made time for it.
Clay really didn't learn one new stroke, but he did say Mark has a way of teaching that solidifies reasoning in your brain, which is so true.
Let's keep getting the word out!
