I might have some Haagen Dazs. I'll have to check. No Enquirer (even if I had one) for me. 160pgr instead.

    too true

    Jenny,

I'm really sorry but I've never had that happen. Now, I don't use the X7 -- too expensive for my blood LOL -- so I don't know if that's the problem or not.

I use realtime macros constantly and have had no problems.

I thought I read somewhere -- maybe it was from Dorothy over at CR-Net -- that said something similar was probably a baud rate issue, but since you had it working for a while, up until the macro, and then it went weird on you. But I'm certain you checked the baud rates already.

I use a Netgear travel router, $35 or so, renamed the router to "Realtime" and sign onto it. I have my Bridge output to file in a folder named RT1 and I make that folder sharable. I know that's not the right terminology, but you get the picture. I also, with the help of Dorothy a while ago -- and I can get you this info in written form if you need it 'cause I got it somewhere, I'm sure -- named my computer so that when I start Bridge on an attorney's computer, I click Connect and in the box that opens up, I type in \\tim and my computer shows up with just that folder available and then I can navigate to the file I'm using. That's it. You can also hook up as many attorneys as you want to. They don't even need to be in the room -- if they're not too far away -- you know, maybe the next conference room.

    Don't mean to ramble.

Let me know what you find out from support.

    Jenny,

How nice to be able to work with your brother and sister and have such a wonderful thing in common. It really must bring you close. Wish my sister was a reporter or worked with me.

Anyway, wish I could say the same about the credit card debt LOL. I work for one firm mainly, and it's a very large, national firm. I get good work because we only have 4 realtimers out of our 75 or so reporters. A friend of mine, another realtimer at our firm, is in Minneapolis today taking an O&6 with 3 rt hookups. She took some deps here and they liked her so much they asked her to go out of town for the others. She's also going to San Juan, PR with one of our videographers on Sunday for some deps next week, travel expenses paid by the attorneys.

It's good to be at the top of your group in seniority and skill set, I guess.

Man, I sound pretty arrogant, don't I. LOL.

    I had no idea, Jenny!!

This post will do it. After I saw the beautiful crown you sent me (THANK YOU!!!), I looked at my points, and it was 8999.

Guess I have to start over at the bottom again. :)

Just read Tim's comment about sharing the love. It really is such an exciting thing.

Did I ever tell you my sister WAS a reporter?? She hated it, but my husband's first cousing, my sister-in-law, and now Clay.

Oh, and I'm working on my 17 YAOERLD. This will crack you up:

He can't find a afterschool job, so I offered him one. I'll teach him theory for minimum wage.

He's planning on being something like a genetic scientist, etc. -- putting his near genius mentality at work, BUT I think the CR world could use him!

So . . . I'll keep you posted. He actually committed to doing it, and we plan to start after all his big tests (SAT, etc) are over.

    Gotta go to court . . .
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

Heck yeah!! I loves your page!
    Backdrop 4000!
  • Tina Givens

    **sigh**

Jenny, did I ever tell you that you are too good to me?? So glad I saw your message before I left. Just the motivation I need!!

Cross your fingers for me. We leave later today and will spend the night for the test tomorrow. Right now I just want to sleep, lol!! Once I hit the road I can really start focusing. I'll report back once I get home.

Thanks so much for your encouragement.... it means the world to me!!!
  • Ruthy

    Hi Jenny!

Aren't you thoughtful and sweet for remembering my birthday and sending me a virtual note. I really appreciate it. I was quite sick for a few weeks, but am glad to say I'm up and feeling human again. I'm writing from Santa Monica Superior court where I'm in a civil court with a very fun, sarcastic judge. I hope all is well with you.

Jenny! Hi! I was so surprised to see a comment on my page. I had to brush away many cobwebs to see what you had written! I just saw "add as friend" under your name and I can't believe I didn't already have you friended! I need to do a better job of keeping up with my CSRNation!

Thanks! As Ruthy said, you ARE thoughtful and sweet!
  • Jill S. Driscoll

Oh, gosh, I hope she did well on it this time!!! I am ashamed to say I have never taken any of those tests!! I keep "meaning" to. :P
I have nearly forgotten the experience of taking my CSR. I think being an RDR would be really cool. I guess I should, ahem, get going.
  • Brenda Rogers

I'm glad I changed the music to shuffle then. :)
  • Audrey Ricks

Hi, Jenny! I haven't had that problem (yet) with Bridge/RT macros. I have had it when setting up a few times, it seems to default (settings)
and the text rolls off the page. What I've had to do is stop the feed and close the program and restart (in the couple times it has happened). I did have this happen one time that I can recall where I had to switch my settings back to Caseview feed, and that fixed it, but then you miss the updates. Does that make sense? Anyways, I'd call Eclipse and see what they tell ya. Let me know what they say. I'm still running Bridge on my old laptop, but I'm getting ready to add a small Acer (or something) 'cause that old Dell seems like a big ol' clunker, in comparison! haha

I took the photo of the roses, testing out my new lens that hubby bought me for Christmas. Glad you enjoyed! I've been staying pretty busy, hoping to stay this busy through the summer months.

    Have a great depo tomorrow!
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
    ;-(

I just saw my fortune cookie - so cool! Thanks!

I had my lunch of beef and butter. Now I'll take a nap.
  • April Floyd

I love that fortune cookie! And I did smile! Boy, I sure hope healing forces are at work.

UFRNL! Guess how many strokes I take! Three! What is the brief for fortunately? I write it FORT NILT.
  • Audrey Ricks

Sounds great! Keep me posted! I am on a LiveNote job tomorrow, so I will switch on my extra laptop and run Bridge (even if they don't want it... and provided the room/table is roomy enough), see if I can play with the settings and see what was causing that single stream of text.
Until then ... Let there be ringlets! ;-)
  • Tami

Yeah, Clay gave me the hyperkey sheet. I think I edited four pages in an hour. HA!

I really want to get decent at editing -- learn my way around -- before I start using it on the job BECAUSE I might have to take it in and read to a jury from it, and I don't want to look like a complete doof or erase something, etc.

I started with a new judge today. He seems so terrific, BUT I think he's going to be really busy. I will need to put my scopist/proofer back on the payroll, and she's on Eclipse.

I'll ask Clay about the tutorial. I'm not even sure he knows he has one. I really do think that would help a lot.

I am glad I pulled the check out of the mail. I haven't heard back from the reporter selling the software after I talked to her the first night. I'm hoping she found a buyer because I wasn't willing to pay over the $3100. It gave me this idea to piddle on Clay's, get somewhat accustomed to it, and then dive in.

Also, with the new judge, I want to be completely competent and impressive so he won't be thinking "How'd I get stuck with her!" HA!
  • Tami

April really doesn't three stroke "fortunately," does she? :)

That was a theory brief for me -- well, "fortunate" was. Came back for the -ly.

I'll need to be writing shorter than ever with the new assignment. I'm going to be working on those purposeful stacks, and today "give" on the right side was driving me crazy. Need to get that one down, and I couldn't remember what it is.

    I think it's *FG.

I'll be busy this week and probably the rest of the year. AARGH!
  • Audrey Ricks

Thanks for the extra RT wishes! (woot!)

You're right about the time contraint. Clay doesn't have the time to give up his computer when he's home, and him harping, "You've only done four pages in an hour!" pretty much depletes any confidence I have that I can do it. :)

Now he does say it with his cute little smile that still makes me melt, BUT it's still a bit frustrating.

Right now I really don't need a scopist. I have zero untranslates at the end of the day because it takes me relatively little time to keep it clean. I stay up with it at recesses and lunch to make sure the job stays clean -- especially nice in trials because the same proper names, etc., come up day after day.

So I just need a proofer that I can trust to do a final without me reading it a second time. That is a bit scary, but I really think my "Sheila" can do it and is trustworthy AND she can't wait to get my work back.

So I really do need to jump and stop having cold feet.

I think the CRR was easy-peasy, as usual. That doesn't mean people can still pass it.

I told Clay about your CRR and how low the pass rate was nationwide because of "strategic," and he quipped out, that's an easy brief for me.

Jenny, as cool as he is, I really think he'll pass next time. I don't want to put pressure on him, and of course it's okay if he bombs -- I've bombed a few tests myself -- but wouldn't that be pretty incredible.

Gotta to go to court, so hurrying off without a DL-K (double check).
  • Tami

Constraint! EGAD. Not looking any further, though. HA!
  • Tami

I haven't checked my email in a couple. I'll try to do it tonight.

    I use:

    UFRT fortunate
    UFRLT fortunately
    NUFRT unfortunate
    NUFRLT unfortunately
  • Tami

RTing to Bridge -- how awesome that would be.

Our courts use LiveNote, and I don't think there's a chance they'd consider it. That is definitely dreamland for a reporter!
  • Audrey Ricks

All went well today, but no one used LiveNote and no one was interested in my extra Bridge feed. I didn't mess around with it -- it started up just fine. But now that you mention the forced margin thing, I think that was something I stumbled upon as well. I'm on a LN job tomorrow, but it's on a different case/different firm, and they will have their own laptops. I may set up Bridge as a backup. Time permitting, I may play around with it as well. Thanks for the update! Glad ya got it workin'!
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

    Hi Jenny,
Thats correct, if < and or > is included before some words it *could sometimes be mistaken for code.
    Roger is the man!
  • Tim Floury

    Jenny,

Glad to hear that you got your Bridge issues worked out. I just checked my output and indeed did not have Force Margins checked. Never would have thought of that. Now I know. But, make sure you DO have Apply Edits and Allow Backspaces checked. The Apply Edits is obvious, so you can refresh the attorney's Bridge screen, and I'm not really sure what Allow Backspaces does, but I remember being told to check that, too.

Well, I hope your witness shows! Nothing more that I hate than getting out of bed, getting all dolled up, as it were, and driving to a depo where the witness doesn't show. What a giant waste of time!!

Okay, I got to get to these transcripts. I've got 1,300 pages of realtime depos that I've taken over the last 2 weeks and they're coming due. Can only do what I can do, right?

    Take care,

    Tim
  • Tim Floury

By the way, love the picture of your desk. Makes me laugh cause I know the feeling.

Jenny, I don't have a realtime.ini file. I just have my main dictionary and the about a billion job dictionaries...can I put these macros in my main dictionary? Do I need to create a special dix for macros?
  • Jill S. Driscoll

Oooh, nice! I hope your massage is beneficial and wonderful.

I think I have everything working now in the AB department! Thank you for all your help.
  • Jill S. Driscoll

Your directions were perfect! However, when I start a new file, I have to re-import the macros...why aren't they sticking? :D
  • Jason Pardikes

Yep of course. Tuesday or later wopuld be better then Monday.
  • Janice McMoran

Thanks, Jenny! I had a wonderful day! Love the graphic your created!
  • C Cipolla

    Hi Jenny,

Yeah... I'm impressed with your responsiveness to emails... almost like talking to people on the phone.

I'm photo shy... not posting for the world wide web. Sorry.

  • Darline Marie West

Hi, Jenny! I really should should be more diligent with regards to this site. It is wonderful, but I do not check it enough. I haven't been on it in a LONG time. I went on it today because I got an e-mail referencing a problem that I am having with the Mira as well. I am actually starting to FEEL 52. I was doing okay until recently when the old bones started hurting! Like, where did that come from? I'm going to try and ignore it because I was actually feeling way younger and then all of a sudden... Love your page, by the way! I need a lesson on how to fix mine up, but I don't know where to begin. Any pointers?
  • Jill S. Driscoll

OH, good! I need to go second or third the motion now! Yes, the ABs are sticking now. I think the problem was I added them while in a job. I redid it with no job open and now they appear to be staying in place!
  • Stacey Stokes

Wow, I got on the birthday list. I didn't expect that! Well, it's 10:20 on the last day of my 50th year on Earth. I'm sorry to see 50 ending. It's such a cool number :)
Meanwhile, I adjusted my steno keys some more today & I think I'm going to be doing some pretty, pretty clean writing from now on.
    What's Report-It?
  • Stacey Stokes

PS: I'm glad you're a cat person. I love to show the Giz off. She cracks me up every time I look at her. I'm too la

  • Stacey Stokes

whoops, I didn't finish that thought. My desk looks just like yours (it's clean in this picture)
  • Stacey Stokes

Ah, I've always wondered about that lap support. So it really is comfortable? It makes great sense.

My machine started writing 1111111 spontaneously. I adjusted furiously, but in the end it turned out I had a bad battery in my IPAQ that was creating havoc by drawing too much power from the Rev. Pay special attention to what happens when you plug the Rev's charger in and take it out. The problem started slowly and then got worse and worse till I had to send it in. Finally, a new battery for the Ipaq solved the problem. I had previously tried to order a new battery from a knock-off website, but they didn't work. If you get one, get it from a trustworthy site or ask Jason where he gets them.
  • Audrey Ricks

I came to check out your mom's roses. (photos) Did you forget?
  • April Floyd

I like the picture of you and Roger. Very cute!
  • Tina Givens

Whoa, girl!! That's a lot of stress!! Hopefully you're in for a calm weekend!!
  • Linda Sorge-Howard

Hi Jenny! Thanks for hooking me up with this site. I like it already! I got an email from Elizabeth Campbell and she told me that she is using the same exact setup on her Mac as I am, no USB bluetooth in her computer only what is on the Mac just as I have been using. She thinks that it's possible the adapter that goes on the back of the Mira is going bad, which is what I suspected as a possibility. So I am going to look into the Stenocast but I only want to have capabilities of realtime for myself. So what do I need? I know you realtime for others but you have more knowledge about this than I.

    Hope your weekend is great!

    Linda

PS: Don't worry about the Laura thing.....I answer to anything!!! LOL
  • Lorna Brodie

Hi, Jenny. Hotter than you know what up here! And I'm getting ready for my daughter's b'day tomorrow...she put in her order for two pies...yeah, not one...TWO!!! She knows what she wants and isn't afraid to ask for it.
  • Lorna Brodie

If I take pics, I'll send them. I told her that cake decorating is my thing..and she insists, "No, I don't like cake...I want pie." So...that's what she's getting. And yes, I don't even want to think how hot my house will be once I start up the oven. This big range heats my entire house in winter. Does that tell you anything?
  • Jill S. Driscoll

Thanks for posting on my behalf. I forgot to tell you that I couldn't do it. I went in there and tried and got denied!

My Grand purchase is still in the angel/devil on the shoulder stage. :D
  • Jill S. Driscoll

do I want fixed misstrokes checked?
  • Brenda Rogers

    83! woohoo!!!!
  • Brenda Rogers

I need to be! I went to coffee with high school friends this morning -- and got a sunburn sitting in the sun at Starbucks -- and then to Star Trek this afternoon. so NOW I need to get to work!!!!

Oh, there is still laundry outside. Another excuse! :D
  • Linda Sorge-Howard

I checked out the site you sent and it does have some info that sparked my imagination. I am going to try to play a little tomorrow and see what I come up with. Next week I will have at least three jobs that I know of and I want to try and have some of these issues solved, including why my Mac didn't record the audio.
