Okay, I'll be your first. Now, get a picture on here and finish your site. Then have browsing and making new friends and getting to know everyone you want to. You now have a whole world of friends whose door is now opened to you. The administrators of this site will soon send you something welcoming you. You will be amazed and enjoy having colleagues all over the nation. I'll check in with you soon, my dear Mentee.

Hi, My Dear; Look at you confusing everybody by telling all that you're in Sacramento with that Riverside phone number....even had me fooled for a minute & wondering for a moment. My other mentee is Stephanie Fernandez; look her up and have a new friend. I look forward to sitting with both of you at meal handing out my dictation CD's for you both. You're both trying for qualifiers, both in Riverside and both my mentees. I want two CSR's out of you two in 6 months. I aim to please and aim to be pleased. Then we can meet up with Cassandra & have a celebratory dinner. H'mmmm, I can taste it now....delicious -- or as my daddy used to say, "simply ledicious"!

    Hi Candice,
I'm fortunate enough to be Michael's other mentee.
I understand you're also located in Riverside. What school are you going to?
  • Stephanie Fernandez, RMR

I've heard Argonaut is a great school. I actually used to live in Northern California myself. I moved down here to go to Cerritos, and I've been really happy with my choice.
I got to qualifiers over the summer, but I have to finish my academics before I can move on.
Hopefully we'll both be heading to the CSR soon! :)

Cerritos still doesn't offer qualifiers at night, but the teachers there are great.
I joined CSR Nation about three or four months ago. It's been a great resource. You can post a question and get input from experienced reporters in no time at all. If you haven't seen it already, you should also check out the CompuServe court reporter's forum at gosearchmaster.com. It's another great resource I use all the time.
I don't know how to advise you on messy writing -- I'm in the same boat -- but I've posted questions about that, and the consensus seems to be that clean writing will come with time and to just focus on getting out of school for now. I'm sure Michael gave you the same advice, but when I talked to him about it, he suggested spending an equal amount of time on accuracy and speedbuilding. I've been trying to do that ever since. I hope that helps.

I know how you feel. I moved and quit my job when I decided to start the program. I'm eager to get out there and start working too.
Things get in the way for everyone I guess. My car broke down a few months ago, so I can only take classes online for now. It's been really frustrating to try to progress with lots of loud roommates and dogs running around, but I'm about to move (thank God!), and I'm hoping I'll be able to go to school at least two days a week next semester.
When are you planning to take the CSR?
  • Stephanie Fernandez, RMR

Well it sounds like you have the work ethic to pull it off. With a lot of hard work and some good luck, I'm hoping I'll qualify for the June CSR. I have one more semester of academics ahead of me before I can take qualifiers officially. We'll see how it goes.
When you relocate, we'll have to get together and celebrate! :)

Okay; Well, I just got your message. I've been busy the last few days with depositions daily. I just had a chance to check in with my e-mail in prime time. I see you haven't been on here since about 11/5/08, so I don't know when you'll get this; but since you wrote me via this, I'll respond back to you the same, hoping you will check it soon; but let's get back to the e-mailing so we don't put out personal information that we might not want everyone to know about. Anyhow, in my busy period recently, I did have on my repertoire to dub you those c.d.'s and I've finished and they're ready to be mailed to you. I'll inform Stephanie next, as this weekend, she was busy moving. I guess we're all ready to get back down to business. Now, I need your address to send you those; That way, you won't have to wait until January 20, when I come up near there. So, get back to me with your new address so I can get these to you. Master that machine with those new pads and if it's truly better than they were, then you're not far away. The end is very much in site and you're closer than you think. Stay on those finger exercises and just non-dictate-write that hard material and your accuracy will improve. Don't worry about that. It happens without you knowing it. It definitely won't get worse and that's so very important as you go to 240 and 260. That's improvement right there, to go up those speeds and your accuracy doesn't get worse. So, stick to it and by January 1st, I bet you're gonna start planning what you're gonna do after the CSR and it won't be school! You'll actually see it by then, I'm sure. Just remember, you heard it here first. Okay, so I'm waiting for your response and I'll get to my Man (UPS) and we'll get that to you ASAP. I just need your address. You know the only one I have is the Riverside one. Oh, by the way, if you feel uncomfortable at all, I can send it to your old address if all of your mail is being forwarded, okay? In that case, I won't do UPS but U.S. Mail. I always try to cover all bases. Take care, until I hear from you, Your Mentor, Michael

Good to hear from you, Candice. Sorry to hear you've been sick too.
I understand you're on the brink of passing a qualifier. I passed my first 5 min qualifier last week, but it doesn't count yet. I'll have one chance to pass in order to qualify, but I'm hoping I'll pull it off. Maybe we'll both get to the June CSR. If it works out that way, maybe we can have dinner or something.
My car problem remains a mystery, even after several months and thousands of dollars. We've replaced so many things, including the engine, and it's still just the same as it was. We can't seem to find a good mechanic anywhere, and it's really hurt my progress at school. I couldn't go at all after last summer, and since I started back last week, I've had to try to share my husband's car. It's not always easy to work that out, so sometimes I miss class. I'm hoping and praying my car issues will be resolved very soon. I'm glad you were able to have yours fixed.
I'm sorry you missed your qualifier. I missed mine yesterday too!
Thank you for the sweet comment. You and Michael are very kind to me, but I haven't done anything so impressive.
Anyway, I hope you're doing well. Please let me know when you pass your qualifier.
Hope to see you in June! :)
