So even though you might not be able to get a group of us together every month, you'll have some pretty awesome writers who I know are going to join that can help you on your journey.
Great to hear from you. Will you please email me at elizabethw@barkley.com with your contact information? I would like to discuss potential work for you with our company.
As for the "cover depo" section on this webpage contact Monte - he runs this site and will walk you through anything - in addition - you can find Monte among my list of friends on here - just send him a comment with any questions that you have -
Kathy, you poor thing! Do you ever go on depoman? That is absolutely the place to be for LS issues. I have a few questions for you. When you got on the December update, did you have to redo your configuration? Did you do your configuration all on your own, or did you take someone's and modify it? Are you writing with Bluetooth? Do you suspect you have a COM port issue? When did you get your LightSpeed? How much RAM does your computer have?
There is a reason for each one of these questions. It's seems very strange that it will write without a problem and then it won't. Before the firmware update, was it writing really well? Did you get the firmware update so you could use the December update which can be downloaded from the Internet? I will just tell you that once I got the new firmware, and got on the December update, I had to completely redo my configuration. Several people have used my config with success. They have started with it and tweaked it. If you e-mail me, I will send it to you. jenlug@pacbell.net. You can also download it from Greta's site: http://www.alcra.org/downloads/configs.html It's called Jenny Griffin January 2009.
While I was searching for Greta's site address, I came across a few threads regarding the LightSpeed that may be of interest to you. I can forward them to you if you e-mail me.
I ask about the RAM because Eclipse requires a lot of it. I found I had a big problem with my Acer aspire one because it has only one gig of RAM. I've told LS support about it, but they never got back to me. I let the matter drop because now I am using the Gemini Grand instead of the LightSpeed. The LightSpeed was working well for me, but it turned out it was aggravating my thumbs. I started getting some numbness and tingling, which had been an ancient problem of mine that was all better until the LightSpeed.
I have no idea where Vista is, but I am looking it up now. I will be home all day tomorrow if you would like to call me. I check my e-mails around nine o'clock in the morning. Your LS issue must be fixed! We will find the answer!
Kathy, When you get a chance, join the Magnum Steno Fan Club group on this site. Do you get Keith Vincent's free e-tips? Go here:

Get on #67 and download it. Download the macros that appear there. The #67 pdf explains how to use the macros.
Do this when your brain clears up after figuring out the LS. I'm telling you now because I didn't want to forget!
With the 4.3.0.5, there are a few A/B macro tweaks that need to be made. Don't worry about that now. Good luck with SV support!
I'm sorry the LS didn't work out for you. I was disappointed that I had to return mine, too. I needed a whole lot more patience than I have to make it work, but I sure loved the touch.
A reporter who covered me on Monday had one and I got to play with it again, and it's really something that should work for me, as I have a light touch, but of course that only goes so far.
That reporter has owned hers since January '08, and she complained about her tran rate being terrible since she's been on it. She did love the touch, though.
I use a Mira G-2. It does stack a great deal. I just received some great advice from the machine guy in Seattle, though, and it's helped with the stacking.
What did you used to write on before the LS??
The guy at OTEC (Seattle) said reporters who come off Smartwriters have the most difficult time writing on any machine out these days. I'm seriously thinking about shimming my old Smartwriter and giving it another whirl.
Just want to let you know I really enjoyed meeting you on that Saturday at the MK seminar on Spring Break!!
Tami
Have you been trying out the Club this week??
I think the brief section would really help in cementing the new brief/phrase concepts into the old brain.
Of course I was talking about my old brain, not yours. :)

Some of us have been kicking around starting a MagnumSteno Group. Maybe I should start it.
A lot of the girls are familiar with MagnumSteno because I started talking about it frequently back when I was teaching it to Clay.
I'm liking the Club, though. I've really been working the "so that" this week, and it's really clicking.
Glad to see you here, Kathy.
