I understand what you're saying. I just want to know if other people see it below they're comment box or if it's just on mine. I just want to make sure something I said somewhere wasn't construed as a solicitation, because I haven't done any of that. So thought I'd ask someone I knew.

Thanks for the site. I learn tons of stuff from all the court reporting forums. And now I have another one to sponge up.

Your fellow is a cutie too. :)

I see you know Anthony Frisolone! I've been chewing his ear off about reporting (poor guy) -- it's great he's giving me input too on my reporting endeavor...I need you guys... Janet

    Tori,

I'll be rooting for you this Saturday. Wait a minute. That just popped out of my head. What does rooting really mean? Okay. Here we go:
    1. To give audible encouragement or applause to a contestant or team; cheer. See Synonyms at applaud.
    2. To lend support to someone or something.

I am giving you vast quantities of encouragement now, and I will applaud you very soon because this is the time you will pass!

Get your rest before you test! I just made that up ...
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Tori, I woke up every two hours Friday night and thought of all the test takers I knew. I specifically thought about you at 4:30 and figured you might be on the road by then. Hope all went well and you had no computer malfunctions! I won't be going to the annual, but I am going to the Eclipse deal in Las Vegas. I just need to get my plane ticket figured out. Any chance you'll be there?
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Tori, I'm so sorry my vibes didn't work on your hardware. They didn't work for a reporter pal of mine here in CA either. She just couldn't get her ASCII drive to work - even though she felt she passed! This will be my first time at a users group, but if I learn some new tricks, I'll be back next year and will see you then!
  • Janet

Hey Tori --Have you tried out the chat thingee? I'm on now. This is really a great little website. Let's chat. I want to know how you did on your CRR Saturday and tell me about your LS!
  • Jean-Marie A. Browne

Hi Tori, I've finally joined the site. I've been browsing and it looks great. Am looking forward to learning lots more.

Woo! Love convention - but I'm exhausted! Had a GREAT time, but too short. Good thing, though - left before the earthquake there.

Roomed with Barb DeVico! It's great to share costs - and connect with online friends.

    Hi, Tori!

I vaguely remember some outstandingly nice people on the Grapevine bus when Clay and I went to town. I was still coming out of a constant fog from my head injury. The lighbulb had just started to brighten up again that same Spring, so I'll blame it on that.

Yes, it was so nice meeting you in person.

    I see Stephanie's whining about me again . . . HA!!

(See you're getting the Sue Spam, too.)

My name is Faith and I'm a student just finishing up school in New York. I'll be moving to the Raleigh (Wake Forest) area within a month or so. I'd love to chat with you about working in NC.

    Hope to hear from you.

Tori, I am really curious to hear if your translation is so much better on a more powerful computer. So many people feel a mediocre translation is just their writing, when it is truly the software and the power of the computer. I need a nice backup computer as well, and I really have been hearing good things about that Lenovo. Unfortunately, I have spent all my money - and more - on upgrading to the Gemini Grand and purchasing Stenocast X7, which is still sitting here in its box! I had such a wonderful time at the Eclipse deal last year in LV, and I am so sorry I will be missing meeting you and Barb in person this year, but I have all my points and no more money! Have you seen the conflicts over in the Eclipse group on this site yet? So nice!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

try to use my desktop monster Great idea! When you have time, of course! I just bound up a depo I took last week myself. Work has been so slow here, but I'm still running on the wheel! Yes, keep me informed. I'm crossing my fingers for you and Barb being able to see the show. My friend Debbie and I saw Cirque - Mystere - such fun in person! Just getting away is great. Now I'm making myself feel bad - missing out this year. Hope I can find some chocolate around here!
  • Tori Pittman

I'm back. I've been so busy in the past year with the new job I've not been much of anywhere, at least not like I was. I'll try to be more diligent in hopping on the boards again.

    See you around!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Tori, I just watched your Vegas slideshow in big vision! Love the pic of you with the hat!!! Man, it brought back memories of last year, wandering around with Debbie, my best friend since fourth grade. I called her that weekend and said, "Guess where we were one year ago?" Then we cried a little because we coudn't go this year. Well, not really, but I felt like it!

Please post some info in the Eclipse section here when you get a chance. Nobody has told me anything yet about what they learned. I haven't read any posts on any forums about it. When you get a chance - I know you're super busy. I'm bogged down still with RT testing out of my equipment, and now I learned I need to upgrade my StenoCast X7 to the StenoCast Red! Frustrating!

I saw a few minutes of Bette on TV yesterday - she looks beautiful! You're so lucky you were able to see her show - and get such great seats! Trips are fun!!!

    Hi Tori,
    Wow !

I am doing well. How about you ?

    Hey Tori,
Glad you liked Boston. It's a great city !!
But these ones on your site look more exciting !

Congrats on the 10 year cancer free. I am a mere baby steps 6 months cancer free, but nonetheless, everyday is a gift !!
That's how I found this site. I was looking for help scoping when I was home recovering from BC surgery in the fall.

    Hi Tori,

What is a no-court week? And for that matter, what is a normal life? LOL

I'd love to meet. Let me know what works for you and we'll figure out a meeting place.

  • Peter C. Goswick

    HI Tori,

Good to hear from you and I hope all is going well for you. I was at a depo yesterday (Thursday) and the court reporter asked me if I'd ever worked with you. She works with Golkow Technologies and said she had talked with you in the past..
  • Peter C. Goswick

Her name is Connie Perks and the c/r firm is in Philly. She just asked if I knew you and I told her I did and that I always enjoyed working with you in the past.
  • Faith Pitino

That sounds like a plan! I'm looking forward to meeting you.
  • Tami

    Hi, Tori!

Glad you're back. I had just gotten through reading Trina's blog on the Gov. before I headed to my page, and I already was having happy thoughts hearing from you and you being a part of my broken record. :)

Hopefully this will shake a few people up. I'm sure it's going to be a day-to-day struggle for quite a while now, and while I'm on my last fingernail, I have my boy to worry about AND so many students and reporters that I really love.

What a time to start trying to make it in this field!!

I'm proud that Clay realizes RT is his future and that it will put him head and shoulders above most in our profession.

    Preaching to the choir again . . . :)

Have you joined the Magnum Steno Fan Club??

    Mark is with us.

I've been off the boards for a couple days. We had an end-of-the-year swim party for my first grader's class yesterday. We had so much fun.

Since my husband's open heart, etc., he's been really involved in my little guy's classrooms, volunteering one day a week. He started last year when Cade was in kindergarten, and my husband is an absolute hero to the kids. They love them. All the moms told me yesterday how jealous they were of my husband because "Nobody's funner than Mr. Frazier!" :)

Anyway, I'm glad he's finally slowing down, so hopefully I'll get to enjoy him for a couple more years.

Take care, Tori, and keep in touch!
  • Tami

    HA! is right!!!
  • Tori Pittman

This is me at 7 a.m. the day of the Race, NO COFFEE. See the slanty eyes? it's a fake smile. Plus, it's already hot. But I'm THERE!!!
  • Tami

I don't think you could even make a fake smile. HA!

Did you hear Clay passed the RPR??

I'm trying to get him to go to D.C. to take the CRR.

BOIT, You just talked me into going to Starbuck's -- and it's noon here.
  • Janiece Young

    Hi, Tori,
Thanks for your advice on taking the realtime exam. What material do you use to practice and where do you get it? Do you get old CRR exams from NCRA or what do you recommend?
    Thanks,
    Janiece
  • Janiece Young

    Hey, Tori,
I just glanced at your "about me" section. I was the operations mgr for my firm too before I became a reporter.
Anyway, forgive my ignorance, what is the Realtime Coach that you talked about in your last msg to me?
    Thanks,
    Janiece
  • Faith Pitino

    Hi Tori,
I'm actually not available tomorrow since I'm sitting in on a depo in Durham. I have to leave here around 10:30 and I don't know when I'll be back. If you wanted to meet early, that might be an option or later in the day. Obviously, I don't know when I'll be back.
As for Friday, I won't be here. My husband and I are leaving for Florida Thursday morning. A family situation came up last night and we have to go for a quick trip down.
Let me know what works for you.
    Thx,
    Faith
  • Faith Pitino

    Hi Tori,
If you want, I can call you when I get back from the depo tomorrow and we can see about getting together. If you want to email me privately (pitinof@yahoo.com) your phone number, I can call when I'm getting close to the area .
    Faith

  • Kwanna Collins

Hi Tori! I am so glad i found you on this website because i plan on moving to Raleigh in another year or so and i was wondering how the job market is out there for our profession? Right now i live in NY and its kinda slow; however, i am not ready to work, i am still in school. I am hoping by the time i finish the jobs will pick up. Anyway i was wondering what the freelancing world is like out there because i have no intentions on working in the Courts, not yet at least. Anyway, i would like to invite you as a friend. You can send me a message through my inbox on this website. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon.
  • Kwanna Collins

Hi Tori. Okay,my email address is pudgey4@aol.com. By the way i plan on visiting Raleigh the end of Aug or Sept. My niece lives in Derm and her boyfriend's family is throwing her a baby shower :), that should be fun. Anyway, hope to hear back from you soon.

    Once again thanks
  • Kwanna Collins

Hi Tori! It's Kwanna. You never e-mailed me regarding court reporting in Raleigh. Did you forget about me? Lol Okay just checkin.

Hope to hear from you soon.
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

I just joined the WW online. I did 30 minutes on the treadmill this a.m.

Tori, I'm so impressed with your rededication to fitness! I just weighed myself this morning and I'm up another pound. Gee, I guess I shouldn't have had those three Klondike bars two nights ago, huh??? You've inspired me to get it in gear - thanks!
  • Brenda Rogers

    Tori, those kittens are ADORABLE!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Tori, it's so funny. I just walked down the stairs to my computer after having my green tea and chunk of bittersweet chocolate. I thought, okay. See how good it feels to walk down these stairs. I'll check my email and put that two-mile walk away the pounds tape on. I can do it.

So to have your comment show up means I really have to now. Here I go!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Yay! Thanks to your push, I did my two miles in 30 minutes!!! Every time I do this I wonder why I can't keep doing it all week long, but that's the way my mind works! It's so good to get my circulation going. This is what my arms need more than anything. Well, aside from not working for a while!!!

I don't think I can do it in the morning, though. I seem to get my second wind in the early evening. So many of us reporters are in the same boat - we have an invisible chain from the computer to our expanding bellybuttons! It really takes the extra effort to move! It helps to have the support of others - thanks!
  • Kwanna Collins

Hi Tori its Kwanna. Did you ever get a chance to e-mail me. Still looking forward to hear from you. Once again my e-mail address is pudgey4@aol.com
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Tori, I almost posted to you last night after I finished another 2-mile tape, but I actually turned the computer off! So that's the good news - I'm doing them. The bad news is my weight is up a total of four pounds from normal!!!

Here's my question: Is it possible that the weight gain is at all related to the course of prednisone I took recently? I stopped taking it one week ago - so nice to sleep again! Also, I'm wondering if the improvement in my elbows is related to the drug. The weird thing is that my elbows weren't better while I took it, but they only seem to have improved within the last few days. Any expertise there??? I was taking the prednisone along with an antibiotic for a sinus infection. The last time I did this was five years ago.

Sounds like you are determined to get it in gear! Me too! These five pounds must go. I only have ONE pair of work pants, and they're on the tight side now!!!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

Tori, You're setting some super high goals for yourself. Here's my goal: To be pain-free!!! (and maybe 10 pounds down.) If I lose a pound, it's major! I have knee issues, elbow/neck issues I'm dealing with. When I exercise, they flare up so I have to be so careful. If setting a performance goal works for you, that's great. If you visualize yourself crossing a finish line, feeling fine - wonderful! My brain doesn't let me do that now. I want to be able to drive to and report a 100-page job and drive back without taking Advil! I'd like to comfortably fit in my pants and one day make the time to hem the two pair that have been in my closet for over a year now! I never had a weight issue until I turned 42 so I've been up in weight for ten years now. I went down a bit when I was working so hard to practice for the CRR two years ago. So that's good news for me if this recent gain is due to DRUGS! We'll see if I go down at all this week. Or if I just gain some muscle, that would be great. We both just want to feel good, I know! I'm doing my one-mile tape at least today. Maybe a walk too. It's so nice to have some online workout buds!!!
  • Jenny Griffin, RMR CRR CCRR CRC

You've reminded me to check into the swimming thing. A few years back a hotel pool let us come in early and swim in their nice warm pool, but then new owners came and we had to go! They completely redid the pool, and I meant to check it out - FORGOT!!! You know I'm in the boonies over here! It's just a little resort town in the Santa Cruz Mountains. There is a pool at the high school, but it's a drive, and I don't think it's warm enough for me! I know swimming would be good. I do have some really good glucosamine but haven't been taking it!!! I'll start today! So appreciate your info!!!

Thanks for the hugs - I need it to power me through these two difficult genome depos I'm finishing up!
  • Kwanna Collins

Thanks for the birthday wishes! :)
  • Kwanna Collins

Hi Tori. I am trying my best to go to the convention that's being held in Washington. Money is so tight right now, i don't think it's possible. If I am able go, i will definitely let you know. Thanks about the "Derm" situation.lol

Hope to hear or see you soon!!!
By the way, love the Vegas pictures.
