Do you do pro tem work at a courtroom? I just sat out with an official court reporter last week, and she said if I do freelance work in the future (still a court reporting student; currently at 160 wpm), she encouraged me to do pro tem at a courtroom since I won't have to be driving here and there... I'll be in one building until a judge calls me into their courtroom. Is this what you do?
It's also very interesting that you want to get into the captioning field because I'm actually considering to do either captioning or pro tem work at the courtroom. What are the pros/cons of pro tem (if that is indeed what you do).
Thanks for any enlightenment about this you could give me!
Thanks for getting back to me, Kayla! I really appreciate it! :)
I'm one of the lucky ones because thankfully my school teaches realtime from the get-go, and we're constantly working on how we stroke our words out, making sure NOTHING conflicts to make us REALTIME READY! :) I'll continue to work on my dictionary as you suggested.
I do have another question for you! What are your best tips for court reporting students?
Thank you for the nice words about me getting out of school soon, Kayla! I hope you're right! Hehehe. :)
