Linda, I'm dying to hear about your trip! Sure hope you were able to fix your equipment. My work slowed down somewhat so I'm just scoping a few jobs and paying bills, etc. Yuck! Let me know what's going on with you when you get a chance.
I've been RT'ing to my Acer with Bridge this afternoon and feeling so happy that it's working. My macros are refreshing properly and all. Now I've just turned on my Dell laptop and I'm going to see if I can add it to the mix and use my old RT cables instead of another Stenocast receiver (I have only three).
So you learned some new stuff? I'm so envious! Hopefully it won't take you long to catch up!
I'm not really sure where I went wrong before, but I was told to turn off all automatic updates along with the virus protection. I was just told to not use the BT on my Gemini Grand as there's a problem. That may have been my freeze issue the other day. There's so many variables. I just loaded Bridge onto a flash and installed it on my Dell. I'll know if my old RT cables work in a few!
Yes, Vista is something else! I'm quitting too for the night. It's still not working perfectly, but both the Dell on my old cables and the stenocast Acer are showing my tran, refreshing - mostly! My Dell margins are going all over the place so something is off there. It happens when it applies the corrections, I'm thinking. It only has 256 of RAM so that MAY have something to do with it. I'll call support tomorrow. I'm amazed at what I got done today, really. I'm thinking I need to thank the makers of Sudafed!
Linda, I woke up with a super bad sinus headache and am dealing with it. Just got up from a nap and am feeling better. Unfortunately, the version that works with Eclipse the best is the most expensive one. It's the only one that allows you do make the macros. Here's a post. If you search for the words Dragon Pro 9 you will find a few other comments, but this is the main one. If you have any other questions, just let me know.
Hey, Linda. Too bad we didn't get a chance to meet at the ESP convention in Vegas. Those can be lonely if you don't know anyone. My scopist was there, but we hardly saw each other because we were in different classes.
I learned (I think) how to do autoindexing. I just now have to try to implement it. Wish me luck! Got some good stuff from Keith Vincent. He's always interesting. What did you learn?
I have the Sound Professionals USB microphone and love it. Well, that is until it broke recently. No idea why it broke. And it wasn't cheap. It's like $300 but totally worth it so you don't have to worry about batteries.
Ah, thanks! My head is a bit better, but around 4:00 a.m. I woke up with a really bad head and it wrecked my sleep. I was supposed to get up early to visit my aunt and uncle at April's house an hour away, but needed to cancel as I felt so wiped out. I'm pretty bummed!
I also found out some news about StenoCast that has added to my frustration. It looks like to refresh properly with Bridge, I need to upgrade to the StenoCast Red. So that's $100. This explains my testing results over the past few days, which weren't quite a waste of time, but still!
What's the latest with your equipment? Did you sell your computer? I worked on an ad for my LS, but another LS user wants me to wait a few days before posting. Any more thoughts about the LS???
Linda, Yes, regular Eclipse with Dragon Pro. Even with help from Dragon editing, I still need my massages. I've scheduled one for 3:00 today - 45 mins from now!
Linda, Have you been working all weekend??? Just read about your locking up problem. I was hoping your issues would be resolved by now! I'm still working on getting my equipment together as well. Now I hear there may be an issue with the Grand writer and Stenocast RED, which I was going to upgrade to! I'm working all weekend, but I did walk yesterday. How are you doing in the KP-F (exercise) department? I love my new brief: KP-FG, KP-FD, etc. I can write it, but I don't want to do it!
You are so lucky to have such a handy husband! I sure hope that is the problem and he can fix it. I am ticked off as well regarding these equipment problems. I believe the Stenocast people should have told me that Stenocast RED was coming out soon - I made it really clear that not only did I want wireless, but I wanted to refresh with Bridge. Well, maybe they did not know at that time. I will never know the answer!
I am finally going to be allergy doctor tomorrow. My sinuses are so bad. I know I need antibiotics. I just found my CT scans 20 minutes ago from 2004, and I am bringing them in with me. I'm sure it's just the same old infection.
You probably should try to get out of the gym membership. Maybe when these computer issues are all ironed out, your energy will free up. That is my hope for myself as well! Today I am going to scope a woman with a very strong accent, although the content was easy. I believe my writer did a good job. It is 80 pages long, however, and I must force myself to take my stretch breaks. I am pleased to hear you are not working all weekend! Yesterday I scoped 85 pages. I would have gotten these two depositions to a scopist, but I want to get them out soon.
I am worried about your mishap at the house. Please take it extra easy on yourself! What do you think my picture with Roger? I will leave it up for a few days, and then I'm deleting it.
If you order Pro online, you get support and can get some training. Sure, I'll help you, but I'm on Eclipse so there may be differences! You can ask the online support at the link I sent below. They should know.
I've only used a headset on the job when I need to use my Radio Shack Assisted Listener. I carry it all with me just in case. It has really saved me a few times. It's not wireless. If you find a good wireless one, let me know! Maybe there's posts about that on depoman.
Yes, I'd love to see any pic you can find! I had lots of fun yesterday while taking breaks from scoping by making my own private LOLcat pics. I'll post one of April and Roger on your page, but as soon as you see them, just delete them by clicking on the x in the corner.
Too Funny!! I'll have to remember to take those kind of breaks when working, at least before noon. After that they are either sweet, iced tea, or on a good day with no job, wine breaks!!! LOL
I am on Eclipse too. I am sure it won't be hard to set up and I'll have to get it use to my voice but I was thinking of what can I get it to do to help me in Eclipse. I have no imagination!
Linda, you left me a comment on your own page! I've done that too!!! Silly me - for some reason I thought you were on CC! Read that post again where I say what I use it for. Practically any editing move you do with the keys. Like every hyperkey. Yesterday I made one that will add dashes to the beginning of the sentence. I say "home dash." My cursor can be anywhere on that sentence.
Read this again - but no glass of wine beforehand!

I'm talking to myself!!! Everybody does that here! I'm so impressed with your iPhone! I just got up from a nap I took with ice over my elbows - Dragon helps so much, but I need extra therapy!
It's probably all in my head Au contraire! It is never all in your head. You are very wise to take it extra easy. Stuff like that can get you down if you overdo. I slipped in the tub/shower when there was a hot-water surge at a hotel while attending the Anita Paul seminar in '05. It took months to get me back where I was pre fall. At least the hotel comped me for my stay, but I couldn't believe how sore I was. So I know what you are talking about.
I just did a two-mile tape, and I feel much better with all that forced circulation!
Linda, it is hot here, but I'm sure nothing like where you're at. I just had my massage this afternoon, and my body is actually better than normal. I have been trying to exercise every day. Either a one or a 2 mile walk away the pounds video.
I am happy to hear you have had some good jobs. You are the only reporter I know who is not complaining about how slow the work is these days. I reported on June 30 and July 1 two all-day extremely technical video depositions which I just uploaded yesterday morning. It was the hardest thing I have ever reported and the hardest thing I have ever scoped and proofed. I used a scopist for one day, but it took me forever to proof it, checking anything with the exhibits. There were way too many quotes! I am scheduled to do another one in that case on the 23rd.
I just got my stenocast red working with my two Acers yesterday morning as well, and today I got my Gemini Grand outputting the notes to my Acer as a backup for my notes. I am a little behind in getting out my normal depositions. I must confess that after reporting those difficult video depositions, my normal work is extremely easy, and I have been lucky to have been reporting pretty easy stuff my entire career. Those days may be over, though, as I need more work! So that's a long answer as to how I have been doing. I have not taken one day or even a half a day off in one month now, and I am pretty well burned out. I am hoping to rest tomorrow, though, right after I finish up one job.
I did sell my LightSpeed this week. Any more thoughts about your writer?
Nooooooooo! November is way too long to wait. Make sure you're on a cancellation list of some kind. My cousins have thyroid problems, and my massage therapist and ex-sister-in-law, Trish. It affects so much!!! Especially weight gain and energy loss!
I think you may need to say no more often to others and steal that time to exercise. Even walk around the block in the early morning before it gets too hot. Go back to bed after or something. Tori and Trina and Monica Gerard from this site are all trying to get in shape. Have you looked at the Weight Watchers group on this site??? No time to read it, huh? I understand!
I'm Jenny's sister April. I was just snooping on Jenny's site, after not checking this forum for at least two months, and I read her comment below. I just had to say this: Jenny is the queen of "No"! She is also the queen of "Always right." (And, much to my disgust, she always is!)
That's so terrible about your hand! Have you seen the chiropractor? Maybe your elbow, wrist and thumb needs an adjustment. A fall is a big deal! Is it swollen at all? I'm sending you lots of sympathy and get-well vibes!
So funny April posted! I'm sure there's many on this site who wear this button:
Man, when it rains it pours and all that! I had a hard time getting out my last two jobs. Just went to the post office with them this afternoon. Now there's nothing pending except my usual office mess, bill paying, and getting ready for tomorrow!
You've sure got my sympathies regarding your work and your overwhelmedness! I'll be joining you with that at my job tomorrow, I'm sure!
Hey, you're going out of town? Does that mean vacation??? I hope so.
I'll try to write well tomorrow, but I've just been testing this afternoon, and I'm pretty bad. I adjusted my Grand a bit, and I may need to tweak it some more during the job. With a tiny screw. Hopefully, the witness won't be a fast talker! I'll report back as soon as I can to let you know if your good wishes worked!
Linda, Your good vibes must have gotten me through the day! It was beyond horrid! Here's what I just wrote to the firm, who asked me how it went:
It was a huge, difficult technical job again, but this time the witness had rather poor English. When I asked him to clarify a few things when it was all over, even he had difficulty figuring out what he said! I'm talking broken English. Still, I am so thankful for the extra jobs these days. It will be around 300 pages. Thank goodness I was familiar with most of the terms from the previous two days on this case.
I'm hoping Mr. W recommends me for further depos as he told me they are now through with the scientists here. The words per minute counter on my computer was running between 225 - 300 the entire day. Good thing I'm a Merit reporter! (Like an RMR, but I passed it back when it was called Certificate of Merit at 260 wpm.)
Oh, just for practice, I set up my little Acer with Bridge, and wrote realtime on it the entire job. I have Wireless StenoCast RED now so when I edit the transcript on my computer, it will refresh on the Acer so the attorneys can see the corrected transcript. The more the attorneys know how nice it is, the more they may want to order that service in the future. Mr. W said he's old school and isn't interested. He may be when he isn't actually the one taking the depo, is what I'm thinking.
I want to keep the exhibits with me through the weekend. I'm hoping the attorneys don't request them. Thanks again, Jenny
Linda, I'm talking super, super broken English with scientific terms all day long. We started at 9:00. I hardly got any sleep the night before. Way too many hot flashes, etc. I ordered a bed fan that may not work, but I'm going to try it out. I'll get it next week. So then I had to do the rough last night. I spent one hour and 45 minutes only on it. I had dinner with my friend on the way home, so I started working on it at 9:30 when I was practically comatose!
I am so glad I ordered that keyboard. Typing on it is a breeze. I may have to bug you about it. You do your own scoping, don't you??? Also, the Grand worked great, I did the entire 300 pages on one file. My left hand bothered me towards the end so I just adjusted the left pod on the Grand a bit and it really helped. I can't wait for my massage tomorrow.
How's your body doing today? Will you get a weekend break from the work?
Linda, to give you an indication of how I'm doing, I woke up at 10:00 this morning!!!
I have 10 more pages to scope on my terrible depo. I'm only doing 15 pages an hour as I have to relisten over and over to the witness. I've never done this before. He was way worse than I thought.
On the plus side, our weather here couldn't be better, and I'm trying to get outside a bit. I did a one-mile tape last night. A few days ago I did a two-mile, but with all my sitting, that was too much for me and I tweaked my low back a bit! It's okay now - after a major massage!
Linda,
I was just helping a friend out with her speaker cables. She messed them all out. I thought of you as you had a question regarding your speaker tables as well, but yours was so complicated I could not figure it out. I am hoping by now you have cured your problem. I will tell you that I just hung up with Eclipse support, and the man was very helpful. He called me back really quickly too.
For more news on what I am doing, I would tell you to read what I posted on Lisa O'Sullivan's page, but hers might be private. Maybe I can copy and paste a bit.
Here's what I said about editing from the writer:
The job I'm scoping now, I would make comments to myself when reporting it like this:
I need a macro to do a lock space in the global box.
make a macro for putting in a period and a comma while editing from the writer.
And now while I am scoping, I am copying and pasting those comments into notepad so I can actually create and/or find those macros. I refuse to reach out to my computer to do any editing, but I love to do them from my writer.
Alan and I worked in the yard for the first time in about nine years. Here's what I told Lisa:
So funny you think our yardwork is nice and relaxing. You should have seen us out there going down the giant weeds. When I say giant, I mean thigh high. Our house and yard is the shame of the neighborhood. Unfortunately, it will remain that way until we shell out big bucks of our own redoing the deck and painting the house. Last week there was a beautiful buck with huge antlers sitting right outside our kitchen window. He was sitting in the shade of the redwoods, right in the middle of our side yard, grazing on our weeds. A beautiful sight! He and his buddies are part of the reason why I have not planted a single thing outside!
Yes, I was so happy to have gotten rid of that horrible, horrible job. Now I am working on a few short ones. Next week does not look too busy for me, but that might be a good thing at this point. I need to start thinking about my Quicken work, which I have completely neglected. The weather here is absolutely fantastic, and I should have been outside all evening instead of sitting here. I figure I got enough fresh air this morning while working in the yard to keep me going! That was my exercise too, let me tell you.
I am glad you were able to get out and do some shopping, sometimes it can be fun. No, I have not been doing anything really fun aside from work - just reading a few books. Alan and I are trying to do a diet with no sugar, dairy or wheat for six weeks. He is being extremely good. I am being medium bad. I know there is ice cream in the freezer, and while he is out this evening, I am definitely sneaking some.
Wish I could help you on the speaker issues. Hope your body is feeling great by now!
Linda, There's never any pressure to get back to me! I know you're busy. I'm busy right now too - and I have my massage at 1:30 so I've got that necessary deadline. I'll get back to you later, though!
I just love these graphics. I've said before it's my only creative outlet these days aside from a few macros. Can you call creating a macro creative? Hope so!!!
Must finish 50 more pages of scoping today or else!!!
Linda, I'm constantly using RT macros when writing now. Just created four this past week for putting in the speaker Q and plain speaker, also inserting the Q and A when you've forgotten and have one long Q followed by another Q - meaning you forgot to hit the A stroke!
I could cry if you're not using some additional editing macros like searching for the words and, but, or and putting a comma in front of them! You are using hyperkeys, right? I'm sure I've asked you that in the past.
Glad your bylines are finally coming together. Hope support gets your paragraphs sorted out. My friend in SJ's speakers were such a mess. It took us an hour at least to fix them!
My massage really helped. Today I'll try to fit the chiro in to give myself the best comfort point possible. I still have 30 pages to scope on one job. It's taking extra time to fill in all the screaming the attorneys did!
We need to talk RT macros soon, for sure!!! When you slow down a tad. my weight is down one pound. Two more to go - then I'll be where I was a few months ago. Then five more down from there. We'll see ...
You will be happy to know that I haven't had any ice cream in weeks! Yay!!!
Yes, when I get a block of time, I'll let you know. I think we can accomplish lots! I'm still not quite done with my job as I've been slacking the last three days. Hope you enjoy your break! I'll e-mail you as soon as I know more. Alan and I may go shopping tomorrow - kind of a day trip. I'll report back!
Not using hyperkeys!!! I have just sent a silent scream up to the heavens. Okay, you've got to get into the 4th Tutor - which comes with Eclipse. Go to the Eclipse group and do a search for my post. That's the absolute first thing you need to do - the simplest and easiest way to learn. I also recommend printing out and keeping by you the Hyperkeys document you get in the Eclipse documentation folder.
That's your homework assignment!!! We're getting a late start here, so may end up shopping another day. If we don't go today, maybe I can really finish my job and email it out. That would be good.
I did one mile last night, but it was the power mile tape. Great news you did your machine and you still feel good! Yippee!
Just got back a few minutes ago. 6 1/2 hours of shopping! I'll report more tomorrow. I need to get my big job out. Must proof it over! The att. wants it!
Yes, I had to pull myself off the ceiling after reading your *confession*!!!
Linda, so glad you're cooling off a bit. Yes, I'm almost done with my LAST job!!! If it were earlier for you, I'd say give me a call. Alan is out for the evening. I'm posting my number in case you don't have it. 831 338-0635. I'll be around tomorrow until around 3:00. Drop me a line if I can call you and talk macros and ...HYPERKEYS!
I'm waiting for a call to meet Pat Goulet, another reporter, this afternoon. If we can't get together, I may be here the rest of the day. Just not sure yet. I've been doing driver's ed - because of a speeding ticket I got - and it's taking forever!
If I end up going out today, I'll let you know. I'd love to speak with you. I will be here tomorrow as well. If you're not out all day tomorrow, we can maybe do it then.

I have 10 more pages to scope on my terrible depo. I'm only doing 15 pages an hour as I have to relisten over and over to the witness. I've never done this before. He was way worse than I thought.
On the plus side, our weather here couldn't be better, and I'm trying to get outside a bit. I did a one-mile tape last night. A few days ago I did a two-mile, but with all my sitting, that was too much for me and I tweaked my low back a bit! It's okay now - after a major massage!
Don't do too much - ease into work if you can!

Bet you're thinking about the Diamante ...
Am I wrong?

I'm so happy Keith is back and answering questions over on CRF. I've emailed some of his replies to myself for future reference.
Hope you're having some fun this weekend. I've been forcing myself to exercise - trying for something every day. How about you???

That's your homework assignment!!! We're getting a late start here, so may end up shopping another day. If we don't go today, maybe I can really finish my job and email it out. That would be good.
I did one mile last night, but it was the power mile tape. Great news you did your machine and you still feel good! Yippee!
