Hi, Jenny - I hope something in the article turns out to be helpful. It's hard enough work without pain. I only just saw these "wall" comments. For the life of me, I've been trying to remember what I wanted to ask you about when I posted the first one. Do you remember what the thread was that I might have been wanting some more information about? We're having our first Eclipse users meeting this weekend,
and it might be something that would still be of interest! Thanks, Alice
  • Audrey Ricks

Awww, look at you -- such a ray of sunshine!  :-)  Thank you so much for that!  Great to see all these familiar faces again out here!  I've missed everyone!
  • Kelli Combs

    Thanks, Jenny

Now if I can only get Ning to fix the website back to the way it was. Then I will be happy. I don't want to do too much fixing if it will all be changed.

I am so happy this will all soon be over. What a relief!!
  • Kelli Combs

BTW, I love your picture here. What a great smile!!
  • Christine M. Niccoli

Hi, Jenny.  Thank you for your message.  I just viewed it today.  The activities in my life keep me busy, but I'm always keeping my eye out for more work.  I still love my job of 33 years and have no plans to retire unless I become unable to continue.
  • Brenda Rogers

That's so cute, Jen!  I have been wondering about you -- so quiet!  Talk to you when you're back "on."
  • Ruthy

Hi Jenny!   I have lots of work, but it's a nice day.    Hope to go salsa dancing tonight.

Nice to hear from you.  I hope you're having a good (easter) weekend, too!

       Ruthy

You are most welcome and I am dizzy, but I'm not sure it from the dragonfly's you are the queen of cute icons.
  • Anastasia Swinkles

Yes, I'll be in Vegas for sure!  Let's plan to hang out a bit.  I might be working at the Eclipse booth, but not sure yet.  Either way, I'm going to Vegas, Baby!

I did have a flickering/freezing problem on 5.0.0.6 that I read about elsewhere.  I haven't had it since I upgraded to .12.  So far so good.  I wish I could use more features when doing CART though.  I'm being held back by my job!  Ha ha!

  • April Floyd

    Very cool!  Thanks!

My job was only about an hour and a half.  Very easy.  Nice new woman attorney.  Debbie is extremely busy preparing for a trial next week.

Jenny, that is beautiful!  Love all the trees.

ooh Bryer's Ice Cream, yummmm.  Hope you guys have a fabulous time away.  Maybe the weather will start to get nice.  If not, enjoy the sound of the rain.  =)

Jenny, thank you for that helpful information.

Jenny, Thanks for staying in touch.

    Jenny,

I tried to leave a message regarding needing help with a rush.  I don't see it, but if this is a repeat , I apologize.  Not sure how this works yet.   Anyway, I'm on both Version 4 and 5 if you still need help.  Let me know either way.  Thanks.

Cool graphic!  Didn't show up on my page, tho :(

I stuck w/the Gem Rev.  Just got it overhauled/cleaned and it works beautifully!!  The optics had to be adjusted and a few key springs replaced and now I have no repeating letters or stacking.  Yea!!  How is the new machine working for you?

  • April McMillan, CRR, RPR, CSR

Oh, and as much as I love to have fun in Vegas, I won't be going.  I'm highly allergic to cigarette smoke!!  I always end up in the ER w/a major sinus infection, then meds.  Even the newer hotels w/all of their ventilation don't cut it . . . :(((

I hope you have a great time, tho.

    Take care :)

  • Kelli Combs (admin)

Yeah, I deleted the person and then they came back with another name and I deleted them again.  Now I have locked the website to where I have to approve everyone that joins now.  So frustrating.  I hate spammers.  I am a full time reporter and can't always be online to monitor everything someone is doing.  I guess I will just have to approve everyone manually now.
  • April McMillan, CRR, RPR, CSR

I use the IE browser on my work computer.

I didn't have much luck adjusting the Rev myself to reduce the stacking, but once I sent it to The Steno Doctor they adjusted the opticals and springs and, man, what a difference!!  I've only had it for two years so I didn't want to turn around and buy something else.  Good luck with the new machine :)

  • Stacy L. Metz

Hi, Jenny.  Yes, I have a Gemini2.  I've had it for about 5 years.  There's really nothing wrong with it.  It's a fine machine.  I never used it ergonomically.  I tried, but it never felt right to me.  If you know of anyone interested, please send them my way.  Have a great day!!!
  • Stacy L. Metz

This is similar to the way I follow my regimen of speedbuilding.  I'm a CRAH, Court Reporting At Home, student.  When we speedbuild from a dictation, we break the dictation down into 30-second increments.  We practice those 30 seconds of dictation over and over again until we can write them without hesitation.  I'm going to try your method, especially since I now have the paper tape that I can look at and follow.  It really sounds like an excellent idea, Jenny.  Thank you!!!
  • Stacy L. Metz

Thank you, Jenny!!!  :)  I just placed an ad in the classified section.  Thanks, again!!!  :)
  • April McMillan, CRR, RPR, CSR

Yeah, they actually fixed the springs in a few keys that weren't feeling right.   They also adjusted the optical sensors, and I no longer have my final -D and -B repeating.  I can't believe the difference.  I'm glad I took it in.

When you're at the convention you should definitely look up Jason.  He actually did some adjustments for me when I caught up with him last year at the CCRA convention in the Palm Desert area.  Saw him, explained my issue, he took my machine overnight and gave it back the next day.  Can't hurt . . .

    Good luck :)

  • April McMillan, CRR, RPR, CSR

Jenny, I was definitely told that the optical sensors were going to be checked.  I took my Grand in for a cleaning and stacking/repeating key issues.  I adjusted the key stroke to be longer 'cuz it was way too short after the cleaning and I just got three stacks in an 87 pg job.  Not bad :)  I'm going to set it back a bit to where they originally had the stroke set and maybe it will be less.  I didn't even take a depo w/the short depth stroke (should've tried it), but that was the only adjustmnt made since they've had it so I haven't messed things up!!

Call Steno Doctor and see if they can help.  They have a specific tech there authorized to service the Revolutions.  Can't remember his name right now, but their # is 888-367-7836.  Good luck :)

  • April McMillan, CRR, RPR, CSR

Hey, that's great news about your tweaking.  These machines only need to be serviced about every three yrs anyway according to Steno Doctor.  Three cheers for saving money!!
  • Brenda Rogers

Jenny, I just read your comment again under the butterfly glittery.  Made me smile all over again!  Can't wait to see you in August!!!
  • Brenda Rogers

You can thank Chuck.  He insisted! :)

What are you doing around New Year's?  Think a trip to the Portland area is a possibility? Might be an event you'd be interested in. ;)

  • Brenda Rogers

LOL!  I formally turn my glitter crown over to you!
  • Brenda Rogers

    Oh, you're too funny!!!
  • Angela Mapp

    Hi, Jenny.

I did revisit this website a few weeks ago but saw that all the postings were very old.  Maybe I need to learn to get around it.  I think there are getting to be too many CRing websites.  I go to Eclipe, CR-NEt, Depoman.   And now that there is Facebook, I sometimes log on there when one of the CRing sites directs me there.

  • Lorna Brodie

Hope you are having a wonderful 4th, Jenny!
  • Elsa Jorgensen

Thank you, Jenny!  I hope you're having a great day too!
  • Elsa Jorgensen

Yep, I think he's pretty smart too.  ;-)
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

    Hi, Jenny

I am going to make an appointment for a one-on-one appt with her.  There was a group of us talking to her but she knows tons about nutrition.  Some stuff is you shouldn't eat processed foods.  The more processed the food is, the worse it is for you.  Also, I put everything in the microwave and that apparently kills the nutritional value in a lot of food.  I never knew that.  Also, I used to cook the food in the "plastic" that it came in.  Big mistake.  Plastic has chemicals that leach into your food when cooking.  I won't do that again.

I can go on and on.  But one thing I did know is most cancers can be cured by the food you eat.  Most people get cancer by what you put in your body.  It is amazing what the FDS allows pigs and cows to eat and it is okay to still sell their beef to customers; we are talking a percentage of feces and plastic and other animal parts.  Just shocking.  We should be eating beef that has been grass fed.  Very difficult to find now.  She told me about a place down the street, which is great.

Most cows now are corn fed which makes them sick but it is cheap and easy to feed to them.  You should really watch the movie Food, Inc.  Very interesting.  There is another one about how helpful vitamins are and the food you eat make a huge difference in your life.  I will have to find it for you.  These are a few basics, though.  Oh, yeah, you need to eat more raw veggies and not just cooked.  Cooking veggies takes a lot of the nutrition out of them so throw some raw ones in with the cooked.

  • Kelli Combs (admin)

Oh, yeah, and one more thing.  There is a book all about it called, "How To Eat, Move and Be Healthy" by Paul Check.  May want to check that out.
  • Elsa Jorgensen

    So cute!  Thanks, Jenny!
  • Elsa Jorgensen

Thank you, Jenny!  Hanging in there!!
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

    Hello, Jenny

I am doing well.  Just got back yesterday from AZ visiting my mom.  Nice to take a break every once in a while.  Have a great time in LV.  Hopefully it's not as hot as AZ, which was 106 while I was there.  Crazy hot!!

  • Quyen

Hi, Jenny.  You were recommended by Brenda for training in Eclipse.  I'm in the Bay Area and am interested in possibly setting something up.  Would you please give me more info: what is covered, cost, by phone or in person, amount of time that it takes, etc.  Thanks!
  • Brenda Rogers

    Love the new background, Jen!
  • Quyen

I didn't find another trainer.  I just really wanted to wait for my V5 CD to come in the mail, get it installed and play around with it for a bit before I do training.  Sorry.  You'll hear from me again.
  • Elsa Jorgensen

Jenny, thank you so much!  Erma thanks you too.  It's so hard to know what to do.
  • April McMillan, CRR, RPR, CSR

Hi Jenny, thanks for the update and I'm glad the Steno Doctor guys were able to help you.  Still loving my Rev Grand.  Good luck with the new machine.  How exciting!!
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

Wow, Jenny, thanks for telling me.  I just got back from Europe yesterday where I was for 12 days and gained about 7 pounds back out of the 20 I lost.  I am getting back on my diet.  Such great food there that it was hard to be good, especially the wonderful bread (my weakness).

Alex is a vegan I think, which is a little beyond where I want to go but I have learned a lot talking to him and watching documentaries on nutrition.  I haven't taken any pics since I lost weight.  Once I get down to where I want to be, I will post some pics.

  • Kelli Combs (admin)

I do have a question for you.  I was going to download V5 of Eclipse today but someone posted that it is like learning the software all over again, which I don't have time for.  Do you have any feedback on that?
  • Audrey Ricks

Aww, thanks, Jenny!  So nice to hear from you!  I haven't been out here in quite some time! I need to change those photos of the dogs!  Belle (the white deaf Boxer) passed away over a year and a half ago!  So hard to see her face pop up here after so much time has passed.  I am on deaf Boxer #4 now!  Like you, I've had an amazingly busy year, so photo projects, forums, anything *extra* has been overlooked for so many months.  Taxes? Office cleaning?  You do that???  haha  I start my 3-day weekend and am caught up on work, so I don't even know where to begin!  :-0   CSRNation -- why not?  haha

My back/neck issues are slowly catching up with what sounds like a close similarity to what you're going through.  I found an amazing massage therapist, and she has me coming back every 7-8 days right now for a couple months to help work out my pain issues. I'm a "regular" on EarthLite.com's site, ordering hydrocullators, massage canes, etc.  We just remodeled our gym in the basement, too, and added an inversion table and gravity machine to help me stay stretched and ready for those back-to-back depos.

Took a couple trips to American Samoa this year to take depositions for cases filed under the Jones Act (like Workers' Comp but for maritime law).  Up for 30 hours, 18 straight travel hours, 9-hour depos to follow -- I'd not recommend it!  haha Other than that, the work is nonstop down here.  I've been having to turn down some work in LA just 'cause work in SD has been abnormally busy.  (?)   Still using my Elan Mira but having newer-model envy as everyone upgrades!  haha

I see you're *official* with Eclipse training now!  AWESOME!  I will be calling upon you for webinar/phone assistance -- you bet!  I went to Keith's V5 seminar here in San Diego this year (January?), and I've had V5 loaded ever since. I've held off on using it while waiting for all the bugs to be worked out by all you die-hard de-buggers out there!  ;-)  I just received a disk in the mail, so I suppose it's time to update and get going with it.  I haven't had any jobs I'd like to test it on yet.  Everything lately has been fast, furious, hookups, read-backs, and way too high stress for me to be screwin' around with new software.  Next week's jobs aren't looking any better either!  :-0

Still using my free time for my Boxer Rescue Project and charity photography projects, which pretty much fills in ANY free time I have.  I'm a volunteer photographer for the YMCA Haunted House tonight.  This should be interesting, since I'm not a fan of horror/haunted things.  Hope I don't get any fake blood on my camera lens!

Enjoy the rest of your time in San Francisco and spending time with MOM!  I'll check in as I use V5 and stumble through it.  Stay well, my friend!  Hope to catch up with you at an event sooner than later!

  • Audrey Ricks

You, a slug?  HARDLY!  You just devote much more time to CR schtuff, and that's why you're the GURU and I'm simply the SchmURU!  haha You're the trailblazer and I'm the smoldering embers that trail behind.  I love CRing, but I think I love clocking out of CRing MUCH more!  It's a great career that pays well, well enough that I can pursue my other passions in life!  I sent you a message here on CSRNation about some realtime jobs needing covered in San Francisco next week, so check your inbox!  ;-)

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
  • Christy Fagan, CRR, RMR, CSR

Thanks, Jenny.  I joined the group and then I'll wait and talk to Jason for him to do the initial setup before I bother anyone.  I'm a manual reader and I'm hoping that the software this comes with will explain how to make adjustments.  My Revolution Grand came with a manual and I set it up myself.  So for now I will just wait on him to call.  Bleh.
