This is also a pretty slow time for me as far as proofing goes. I don't do scoping because I don't have any software to enable me to do so, but would be glad to do some proofing for you. When I was reporting they required me to have a proofer as well.
The way I've been doing it for the past three years is the reporter will send me an email with an attachment of the depo or transcript. I will proof it and then send you back an errata sheet that has the page numbers and line numbers of where my suggestions or changes are. The two reporters that I've worked most with seem to like this system and I haven't thought of any other way that it can be done long distance.
I use Morsen's Court Reporting guide as a reference and also the One Word, Two Words, Hyphenated book, among others.
I haven't changed my rates since I started and I charge:
.30 per page for normal turnaround-two days
.40 a page for anything medical or for expedited
