    LeAnne,
Just saw your inquiry about Mark's seminar. You can find out further info at magnumsteno.com He will be in San Diego on April 11 for an all-day seminar, but the web site will have info on seminars in your area. He also has the magnum steno club, an online high-speed dictation club. Theses dictations are archived, and you have access to them at your leisure. New ones are put up daily, M-F.
Though I'd throw all this out there. Hope it's helpful.

Hey, maybe I will see you at the combined state conventions, that would be great.

    Hi, LeAnne.

How long have you been using AristoCAT? I may need to borrow your expertise ...!

    Hi, LeAnne.

I used to use AristoCAT during my transcriber days. Started out on a DOS version, then we upgraded to a Windows version ... so I am somewhat familiar with it -- at least, up until 2006. Alas, I never got to use it with my steno machine! No .rtf import back then.

What I am hoping for is to find an AristoCAT user that would be willing and able to write the AristoCAT portion in my CAT Wars series. My last victim -- er, volunteer had some issues to deal with, and bailed. :o(

Thus far, I have in-hand an article on ProCAT Winner, one one AccuCAP (the captioning suite of Eclipse), and commitments for one on Eclipse by our local Eclipse trainer, Ron Cook, and one on digitalCAT from some guy named Mark Kislingbury. :o)

    So. Interested?

Fair warning: The pay is terrible!

    Thanks ....

    Hi, LeAnne.

Making a switch, huh? Drats ... still could use your expertise -- when you have the time, of course.

I'll bug you again in a month!

How old is your Eskimo? Male for Female?

Ours is male and going on 9 years old. My husband refuses to have him fixed because he thought about breeding but I'm thinking at 9, he might be a little old..... :-)
  • Casey Grainger

Awwww, I'm sorry to hear that. I have heard that they can have a bad temperament but Blaze is the sweetest thing. He would not hurt anyone UNLESS they were to hurt us. He is so very protective and loving, just the sweetest personality and loves anyone that will show him attention; even strangers. I wonder if there is a rescue for them?
  • Denise Crotzer

That is so strange I was writing a message on you page and it just gone!
Okay. Well, you were lucky to have sat out as often as you did, I was thinking why did school every have a practice session or simulate a depo ??
    thanks.. notpad is ready now!
  • Denise Crotzer

Okay, my eyes are sore after reading my comments to you.
Let me clarify what I was trying to say. You are right about school NOT showing us how to mark the exhibits. LOL

LeAnn, nice to know someone else is on Aristocat.  It's hard to find people on this program.  I've had it for 15 years as well, but I didn't work for 5 of those years.  I've been back for about two now.  Is there a way for the times the depo starts and ends to be automatically put in the transcript?  I'm not supper fond of talking to Larry.  He's helpful but I don't find him to be telephone friendly.  I liked the guy that was there years ago that helped him.  Anyway, if you know if you can do that with the times, let me know.   I'm sure you could help me with a lot.  I would love to do a training sometime.

  • Glen Warner

    Hi, LeAnne.

    What did you switch to?

  • Glen Warner

Yes, the economy isn't being too kind to a lot of people these days ...!  Hoping it will fix itself in the not-too-distant.

Still could use that AristoCAT article for my CAT Wars series!  Are you up for it?

  • Glen Warner

    Heh ...!  Sure!

Basically, I am trying to put together a series of articles where a working reporter that uses the CAT in question tells the reader what s/he likes and dislikes about that software, among other things.

    The full description is here:

    http://www.cheapandsleazy.net/cat_wars.html

The idea is to avoid seeing any of those CAT Wars threads on the various forums, because the curious person could be pointed towards the CAT Wars articles.

  • Glen Warner

    (*poke!*)

Are things going better in your neck of the woods, LeAnne?  Still could use that AristoCAT article ...!

  • Glen Warner

    Drats ...!

Well .... I *could* use someone to write about Eclipse ... ! I have one for the Captioning side, but nothing for Eclipse proper.  Do you feel comfortable enough to write that one?
