Tanya, I am so sorry this has happened to you. I've had the same thing happen to me. I never use new scopists on expedited work because you're just setting yourself up for disappointment for sure.
There is a thread on this website that has proofers/scopists that are recommended by reporters. You can also have a scopist you're thinking of using have their reporters send you an email about if they do good work or not. I've started using both of these methods.
I'll have her taken off the website if that is how she conducts herself. Again, I'm truly sorry for this issue. There is just no way for me to vet 8,000 members as to whether they are competent or not.
