I was a court reporting student and I dropped out. I was also a legal videographier and did a lot of infringement cases, pretty much every depo I did was infringement. I then started doing complaince for a depo firm and the commute was killing me and they cut back my hours so I found my current position. My depo history of patent litigation got me this job.

I love it. I format and prepare all the patent filings (all utility but I just did three design). I make sure all figures meet the USPTO requirements, I prepare and file office actions (OAs), IDS (information disclosure statements), PCT filings, communications to clietns, docketing of cases, etc. It is a very fast paced, high stress job. I am actual;ly starting the trademark aspect of it too.

The girl before me, she still works her, she learned so much that she got a paralegal degree and now is doing that. They said that the first 6 months I am here is going to be very hard due to everything I have to learn and that was true.

All the attorneys I work with all came from big firms, Weil Gotshal, Wilson Sonsini, McDermott Will, and they are teaching me so much. I love it. That is why I love patent law because you constantly learn.

    Hi Nina,
I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about scoping or Eclipse -- I've been happy with both! Where are you going to school and what made you decide to do this? I got into scoping because I wanted something where I could be my own boss and work at home. It's been the perfect job for me. Good luck in your studies, and if you have any questions, I'm here.
