    Hello,

I've always wanted to go to Ireland. It was one of the places my husband and I thought about going on our honeymoon, but we went on a cruise instead. But I'm sure I'll get over there one day.

Thanks a lot, I am always changing it around.

    Hello Michelle,
Thank you for your kind comment. I'm still in school, and have a ways to go. I really enjoy this forum. I'm looking forward to developing many new friendships.

    Hi, Michelle!
Welcome to the Realtime Scoping Group. Please feel free to post on any of the discussions or start your own! We would welcome any information you'd like to share regarding your experiences with realtime scoping. What software do you use; GoToMyPC, Hamachi, or something else?
  • Jason Pardikes

WE are still working to fill the position ti takes time. But are looking for resumes and Bio info.

    How are you doing?
  • Sue Baker

Hi, Michelle, it's so neat to have a reporter from Ireland here! I've never ever met a reporter from somewhere other than the U.S.
And did I see you are on Eclipse, too? So am I. TTYL. Your daughter is a doll.
  • Sue Baker

so how was your week? Houston was a bit slow this week, I'm freelance. The weather is heating up, too, up into the 85 range. It's usually very hot by this time, so we've been lucky. Construction is everywhere and it is hard to get around, esp. since we don't really have any mass transit, it's a mess. They've been talking about it for twenty years that I know about (I was pregnant with my oldest boy, who is 18 now, when Metro held the public study forums and took testimony from mass transit people from all over the world and I worked daily copy on that. ) I figure he got a good education on mass transit before he was born. Either that, or a nice nap! Well, just thought I'd say hi.
  • Rebecca Blasco

    Do you know Carmelita Lee?
  • Rebecca Blasco

Yep, sure do. Only I don't know her as Carm, I know her as MOM. How is my dear, sweet Mummy? I haven't had a chance to talk to her this week.
  • Rebecca Blasco

BTW, is she listed on CSRnation? That would be funny. . .
  • Tracie Donnell

Thanks so much! I didn't even know there was this feature...
  • Kevin Bundy

Thanks so much for the birthday message. You're so sweet to have noticed.
  • Maeve

    Why thank you kind lady.
Looking forward to getting to know what's goin on in CSRnation
  • Anne Brownell

I agree, yours puppy is adorable, too.
  • Anne Brownell

It's late...pardon my typing "yours puppy" which, of course, should be "your." Your daughter is cute typing on the steno writer just like her mommy.
  • Rachel Dunn

Hi Michelle! Thanks for the welcome message. Have a wonderful week!
  • Brian Coleman

Michelle, thanks for the message. Yes, I'd be interested in some work... one problem at the moment is I don't have a copy of Eclipse, working on getting one. But I am available for proofreading jobs etc in the meantime if you need someone.
  • Erica Abbott

I just came across your page and am thrilled. My husband is extremely Irish, and it is our dream to go there one day. I have always wondered what it was like for CRs there:)
  • Erica Abbott

Thank you so much for that offer. One day I might just take you up on it!!! I looked at your page, and it seems that you have an extremely well-established firm:) From looking at your page though, it seems really interesting to see that you might even be more technologically advanced than we are here in NY! I am working very hard so I can be able to travel and work anywhere, such as Ireland:)

I love my LightSpeed. I never had a Mira, came from my old Stentura 8000. That being said, there are some people having some problems with their LSs. If you're not a member of www.depoman.com, you should join. Our users' group has settled in over there, in the LSAA (LightSpeed Addicts Anonymous) folder. You can go and see what people have been saying, the successes and problems.
There is a definite learning curve to it. Don't expect to get it and hit the ground running. It takes some getting used to and adjustment to the keys. Almost no one is able to start with it and have a good tran right out of the chute.
Did I mention that I looooooooove my LightSpeed? :) Because I really do. I've had mine since Aug '07, and it would take a LOT to make me go back to a standard writer.
  • Kyung

Thanks for joining the mommy group.
  • Lori Byrd

Thanks for inviting me onto this site, Michelle! I am already enjoying it. Hope to "see you around." Lori
  • Lori Oxley

OH, my gosh! Yes, that's me. How are you Michelle? Is that a picture of your beautiful little girl - she is soo gorgeous. Is that your dog?
  • Mary Dowds

Hi, Michelle - lovely to hear from you. Yes, I captioned in Australia in 2002 & 2003 for The Australian Caption Centre. We lived in Killarney Heights in the Northern Beaches (my son is in French Immersion and we wanted him to continue. The only French programme was in Killarney Heights, so that's where we lived - it meant an unpleasant commute for me, though, especially when I had a shift starting at 5:00 a.m.!) It was a wonderful experience for us, though. I'm so pleased that you contacted me. It's lovely to hear from fellow captioners - we all seem to have interesting and varied experiences to share.
  • Ian Dawson

Hello fellow -- though apparently shifty -- European! Thank you for your encouraging message and offer of help :) Any tips are gratefully received - especially any which explain how to squeeze an extra 4 hours out of the day to practise in!! LOL
  • Kyung

I can just imagine the lady bleeping herself w/her accent. How funny!!!
  • Maeve

I'm kept so busy these days! I used to be on the site a lot but I just got out of the habit of it really but now that you have reminded me ...
  • Sinéad O'Shea

They look great! Stick them on a disk and I'll get them during the week :)
  • Erica Abbott

Hello:) I just wanted to let you know that my husband and I are thinking of traveling in the next couple of years, so someday we may get to meet:) lol. Ireland is one of the very first places we want to go!!

Also, I see Brenda left you a message about the LS. Did you end up getting one? If so, do you like it? I am extremely interested in one. I have the Mira A3 right now and it's great, but I think I will love the feel of much less movement!
  • Deborah Rogers

HI, Michelle. Apologies for not replying to you sooner. This is the first time in three months that I've checked my CSRnation page. It was wonderful to see your message. First, I have incredible admiration for any captioner - but for a captioner who writes the Olympics my admiration knows no bounds. Wow! Also, the gorgeous little one you're holding in your picture reminds me of my daughter, Rachel - same colouring. She's divine (your daughter). Anyway, thank you for contacting me. If you ever leave a comment for me and I don't answer immediately, please send me an alert at deborah.rogers6@bigpond.com and I'll get to my CSRnation page immediately. Very best wishes from me to you. Deb

Hi, Michelle. I wanted to introduce myself because I grew up in Ireland but moved to the US in '81 and haven't been back. I'm working as a freelance reporter in Southern California. It's pretty awesome to meet a court reporter from Ireland. Do you have any insight to offer about transitioning into captioning?
  • Kelli Combs (admin)

    Hi Michelle,
an international group have always existed, however.. a major flaw of my last update is that I forgot to include it in the map!
wow... i will fix it when i get home.

    thanks for reporting it.

P.S: the international group have be found here.
  • Tricia McLaughlin

    Michelle,
I just saw your post on "What's it like to report".....and read you were in Scotland in May. I know you're in Ireland. Did you take the ferry over or fly? What part of Scotland was the depo? I was born in Greenock and would give my eye teeth to get a job over there so I could go home for a bit.

BTW, when you were on holiday, I contacted Maeve. CR friends of mine in Boston have a depo in Ireland coming up and they need a reporter. The lawyers will pay for the videographer but not the reporter to travel. I hope they got a hold of you. I'm not sure if it has happened yet or not. If you want to e-mail them, it's Frank@DunnandGoudreau.com.

    Be well,
    Tricia
  • Tricia McLaughlin

    Michelle,

Yes, I had heard the witness was going to travel to Boston. I wish it had worked out the other way. One of the owners of the firm, Frank, is a CLVS, and he wasn't going to give that video away :-).

Lucky you to have gone as far as Aberdeen. Oh, my, I miss it more and more just thinking about it. Maybe soon :-)!

    Be well,
    Tricia

Michelle, hope it's a fantastic year for you!

Michelle, thank you for the information about transitioning to captioning. It was
    very helpful.
