Non-Compete--Victory for the Little Guy--Louisville KY

Michele Owens, a Louisville court reporter, has had her right to work restored!

After a short tenure of working for a firm, Michele Owens terminated her relationship due to concerns about breaches of the ethical guidelines that govern court reporters, breach of an employment contract, and an overall dissatisfaction with her employment. Upon Ms. Owens’s departure, Ms. Owens was presented with a restrictive non-compete that she claims to have never signed. A co-owner of the firm… Continue

Need an excuse to CART

All:

I want to share some experiences and maybe inspire some to reconsider whether to CART or not to CART.

There are so many talented reporters in this country that are missing out on something that is an unbelieveable experience that you'll never get to enjoy in the legal arena.

Imagine going to a job where you're going to write for the hard-of-hearing (HOH). You're going to walk into a setting where you may or may not have a clue of what is about to happen. It… Continue

Looking to proofread, scopist

Wanted to introduce myself. My name is Cathy Pepe. I'm a NJ CSR, or I should say used to be. I reported a couple of years ago and now am a patient coordinator for a plastic surgery/dermatology center in Livingston, NJ. I'm thinking of proofreading part-time from home. Do you think that I can do this and can you give… Continue

Which Steno machine?

I'm in the market for a new steno machine and new computer. I'm not up to date on the latest technology.
I'm interested in Mira or Lightspeed -- don't think I can hold out for the Passport. I use Eclipse and currently have a Dell computer, but haven't been satisfied with the sound quality. Anybody had good experiences with hardware they care to pass on?
Thanks for your input!
