Hi! Wow! you poor girl - I'm sorry your machine broke - oh, that is SO upsetting - because that's your work -- I am thinking of going ahead and getting a professional machine and I may just keep my protege so that I have at least a backup!
Sorry your week isn't going so well - you have an awful lot on your plate - you are SOOOO young and a newlywed and going to school - I admire you - that's a lot to learn to deal with at the same time! But you know, it will get better -- ya'll are young and have a commitment -- just never ever go to bed mad! It makes the next day awful if you do!
I understand the limitations on your time, so if you can send Friday someday, that would be great -- keep up the good work -- I know you are going to ace your test!
Hi, Kat! I just wanted to let you know that I am really benefitting from the finger drills, but I don't have the Friday page (what you sent me had two scans of Thursday) - could you send me a scan of Friday?
thanks! I know you are busy, but I can't tell you how much they help!
Heyyyyyy.....yourself! I've been sick with pneumonia - ugh.....I've had it for a month - put me in bed for nearly 3 solid weeks and I'm still walking around with it! BUT I am still keeping up with school and even passed an 80 while I was sick-- going to do my last 80 this week!
So, you are out of school now? What are you doing? Are you still working for the firm? Let me know and let's catch up - you are a great inspiration!
Congratulations!!! But what do you mean thankfully nothing ordered? That's where you make the money!! And honestly, that's how you get better as a reporter. You learn a lot when you're producing transcripts!!
Yep. If you can concentrate and practice at home and get in productive practice, that's great. Sounds like you're doing well.
I think most people continue to stay in school working on their speed until they pass the CSR. If we haven't gotten our RPR, we continue working on getting the RPR. I was working on passing my 225 tests.
I think I took it three times. The one that I passed I thought was really easy. But I'm sure others thought it was hard. I guess it's just a matter of opinion. I didn't find the written tests that bad. I passed those on the first time.
How are things going? What kind of certifications are you trying to earn. I'm in CA, so we do things differently. Once we passed our 200s, we could officially "graduate" from school. But we still have to get our CSR license to work. What about you?
Hey there(smile) I LOVE that song girl,,, Voice writing is going pretty well for me. I have to admit that it is very different from steno though. I am used to just jumping on my machine and getting it but now its a voice sylencer mask and a laptop!!!!!! It's pretty weird at first but you learn to appreciate it.
Oh...I forgot to tell you - I took your advice on getting rid of distractions - while I'm not distracted by the computer (email, youtube, blogs) at home, I have a lot of interruptions from my kids and friends, so I adopted the practice of getting up at 4 a.m. and doing 3 uninterrupted hours of steno before I start getting ready for work -- it has made such a big difference! It's quiet, the animals and kids are asleep, the phone isn't ringing -- no one is asking for my attention -- it is such a stress reliever and I'm retaining more - so, while it's a little bit of sacrifice to get up a couple of hours earlier, it's beyond worth it!
Just thought I'd let you know that your tips and your blog are really useful!
Hey, Katiana! So glad to see you on here! Thanks so much for the finger packet - I am going to try that this evening!
I wanted to give you a HUGE HUGE thank you for your blog! It is the most reality based and helpful site I've come across - and you are incredibly generous. You will go a very long way in this profession with that attitude!
Do you plan on going into freelance, official, CART, or something else? You are going to be working in no time! Don't you just feel all excited about that?!
You know, I am not a big football fan. I would not know if they were a big football player or not. About the only ones I could name would be Joe Namath and Peyton Manning or something like that. So with that being said, I don't think they were anybody famous.
One of the attorneys told me the attorney defending the claimant was Tom Mix, and he's supposed to have been a famous player in his day. I dunno.
These are worker comp depos for football players, NFL and XFL and arena football. They were talking about some football player and how so-and-so makes it rain, but so-and-so really makes it rain or something like that. I wasn't really paying attention bec. it was an off-the-record discussion, but I was wondering what they were talking about.
