Hey Nic!

I hope your new business is doing well. I am starting to finally make a living out in SLO. I saw pictures of your daughter in her new hakama at the dojo also. Hopefully I'll be down again around Christmas time.

See you then!

Derek

I offer high-quality proofreading services at very cost-effective rates. Hardworking and dependable, I can deliver jobs within 1-3 days depending on the turnaround requested. Since I value my clients, I usually work weekends to meet their deadlines. Working via e-mail, I receive jobs in ASCII, Text, or MS Word format and submit an errata sheet containing the errors noted and the corresponding corrections. I check my e-mails regularly and can be contacted anytime to respond to any questions and concerns you may have.

A seasoned proofreader, scopist, transcriptionist, and scoping/proofreading trainer, I was enrolled in the Internet Scoping School in the summer of 2005 and successfully finished its scopist training. I have strong English and research skills and have done jobs on almost all subjects: depositions, trials, arbitrations, jury selection, voir dire, expert testimony, technical, medical, chemical, construction defect, workers’ compensation, fender bender, slip and fall, FMLA, among others. References that I use and rely on, in addition to online research sites, include Morson’s English Guide for Court Reporters and The Gregg Reference Manual.

Should you decide to try my services, kindly send in a transcript via e-mail and I will proofread the first 25 pages without charge so you can assess the quality of my work. For the first 1 week of engagement, I offer 50% discount on my services.

If you want to know more about my credentials and my rates, kindly e-mail me at rrie_freelancer@yahoo.com.ph. Thank you.

Hi, Nic. I see you have gotten lots of responses. I have been scoping and proofreading for 23 years. I am not on Eclipse, but I am sent transcripts through email via ASCIIs and then I create an errata sheet with page and line numbers and part of the text and what the changes are that I suggest. My turnaround time is often the same day if I am not too tied up, but I am pretty speedy. I am currently charging 30 cents a page for proofreading. I have an extremely varied background in many fields, which at times is quite invaluable in this line of work. I can be reached at barndt49@yahoo.com. I am living in Wallingford, Connecticut. Nic,
I am on Eclipse 4.3. I charge .35 per page for proofing and can make the corrections directly in the ecl file in a different color so you can easily see what has been changed. I prefer to proof the job on paper first and then I make the corrections on the computer. I have been a certified court reporter in Texas for 18 years but recently relocated to a state that I'm not certified in. I am now proofing and scoping for other reporters and have no plans to get certified here. Please e-mail me at LKGARR129@gmail.com if you are interested. I am very dependable and will research terms and spellings as needed.

Thank You,
Linda

Hi Nic,

I am a proofreader and am looking for some extra work. I have worked for one court reporter steadily for over two years now, and then another reporter off and on whenever she calls. I do not have Eclipse, but work solely from attachments sent to me in emails. However, I do charge quite minimally in order to keep my clients. I charge .30 a page and usually have a turnaround of 48 hours, unless it is a pretty big file. In the event that it is a bigger file, I will send you sections at a time in order to help you keep up with your work.

I am very reliable and very thankful for any work that comes my way. Please keep me in mind for any work you may have.

Have a great day!

Hi Nic,
I am a reporter doing proofing on the side now because reporting is slow in my area. I know you want an Eclipse proofer, but you can always send me an ASCII and then I send back an errata. I would never correct something within your system, as that is up to you to correct something or not. Anyways, if you need help, send me an email fowler.laura@sbcglobal.net

Also, I have been a reporter for 23 years, so have lots of experience behind me.
Thanks,
laura Fowler, CSR, CRR

Hi Nic,
I am a retired reporter. I don't have Eclipse but can do an rtf and then you can import if that works. Kathy (Specialcola@aol.com)

For some reason, your name sounds familiar. But I don't know why. I'm a reporter in Orange County, and I would love to cover any jobs you have in Orange County, south Los Angeles County, and a little ways into Riverside.

Feel free to give me a call or visit my page. I'd love to chat.

Well, Nic, ya just missed the big San Diego outing, sorry to say. It was our lowest turn-out yet - only five of us. That was our ninth one. They're usually in LA, but I've had a couple in OC. I was hoping to have another one before the end of the year and then a weekend spa getaway in Palm Springs in January. Send me your email address, and I'll add you to my invitation list. And send me any email addresses for reporters you think would like to be invited as well.

Glad you appreciated the rates range. Just FYI, there are agencies that still pay $3.50/pg here, but I don't work for any of them, and neither do my reporter friends.

Hi Nic:
Glad to hear things are going well for you in San Diego! I do freelance work, but I have a firm that I've worked with for many years, and I give them first crack at my time. Things cancel and go off, though, so it can't hurt to give me a call. E-mail me at lynpenfield@cox.net and I'll give you the myriad of ways to get ahold of me!

Pam's super sweet. She takes real good care of me. Hope to see you soon!

Hi Nic: I'm about the worst person to ask about L.A. rates or social gatherings! I've worked for the same firm basically for 18 years, and they have a hard time talking me into traveling to L.A. anymore, so I have no idea what the rates look like, other than they're higher than we are down here.

Also, as far as social gatherings, we used to have a local association called GRASD (General Reporters Association of San Diego) but it disbanded a couple years ago. A close friend of mine was the president, and she basically single-handedly kept it going for a couple years, but it's hard to do all that work without help from others. I know everyone was sad that it went away, but not enough for anyone to take on the responsibility.

If I hear of any reporter get-togethers, I'll let you know :)
