Welcome to CSR Nation
I was on craigslist looking through the legal jobs. There was one:
Court reporter: Needed for depositions in August. Please submit resume and course work.
Attorneys are cheap. The low profile attorneys are hiring the least experienced and cheapest secretaries/assistants they can. These girls have the least amount of knowledge of how to do anything (if you ever call an office and the girl's polish isn't there, you know what I mean).
I conversed with the girl. She said she was told to get a reporter for the depositions and not to use a firm. Keep this in mind for why your invoice doesn't get paid.

"By all means, don't get anyone that may have a collections department or funds/time to take us to court!"
So what did you say to her? Good luck?
Angela is in Colorado, looking for a court reporter in Tampa

If you are a new legal secretary and were told to get a court reporter for depos in August, what you are supposed to do is ask the attorney (or another secretary you work with) what court reporting agency your attorney likes. Then call the agency and schedule the depositions. You also need to do the Notice of Deposition.
p.s. you misspelled relevant

Thanks for the alert to my spelling error.
As for the other advice, we (we are two attorneys) are attempting to find a solo transcription-ist; thus the ad posting.

Here's my resume. I have been a court reporter since 1981.

Currently, the case that is pressing is a family case. Thanks for your resume, I will be in touch.

You want to find court reporters - qualified - go to www.ncraonline.com. Look for the link for court reporters. They are listed by state, city, RPR or RMR. (Sorry, but I will let you do the work to figure out what RPR and RMR means).
