I am less than a novice when it comes to hooking up realtime and troubleshooting attorneys' laptops. Are there any novices or veterans out there who know how to lower an attorney's port number to a single digit?

Hi Kathrynne,

TO CHANGE (LOWER) THE COM PORT ASSIGNMENT:
(Some versions of LiveNote support only up to COM 4)
If your USB adapter is assigned a high COM port number:
In Device Manager, under Ports, Double Click on the device you want to
change (Belkin F5U409 Serial Port, for example)
Click on the Port Settings tab
Then Click on Advanced
Then Click on the blue arrow next to COM Port Number
Select a lower COM port number (3 or 4)
Click OK
(You may get a message COM port is already in use, do you wish to
continue? Select Yes)
