I would like to know what you love most about your job. I am currently a student and looking forward to a new career. My current job requires me to sit in an office for 9 1/2 hours a day, and it is the same thing day after day. I look forward to change, doing extra work, and getting paid for my extra work. It's not just about the money, but being able to go to different locations, new faces, and having the opportunity to adjust my work schedule. It must be quite rewarding to know that all of your time and dedication is based solely on you, and what you put out. I would also like to be realistic, and find out what you think is the worst part about your job. Thank you in advance for your time!

Its importance and the resultant self-esteem. We are a key part of the justice system and a link to the world for deaf and HOH persons. They can't do it without us!
You already hit on the positives, freedom, flexibility, new places and faces. I really love what I do, so the best part for me is that I get paid well for something I enjoy doing. Honestly, the worst part is proofreading. That's not so much fun. That's why there are scopists and proofreaders.
Thank you! I was wondering about the proofreading. :)
Haha. Janet, again, I will have to agree with you about the downside being proofreading. It really isn't that hard, just a big old pain in the butt. Another downside that I just absolutely can't stand is how little we get any kind of recognition. I don't think I'm awesome, but it would be nice if attorneys realized that we also have a hard job and that we have degrees and certifications that are extremely difficult to obtain. We DO NOT just sit there and type away easy as pie. Grrrr... very sore subject with me.

But... (geeky; yes) what I think I love most about my job is the little thrill I get each time I reach a new barrier that I thought I would never get to. The money's not bad either, don't get me wrong, but I absolutely adore the euphoria that comes with working with a super fast attorney and still doing a great job anyway. When your meter says you're up above 250wpm and you've been working very, very hard to get there (I am only working on my third year of CR'ing); it's just wonderful:)
