Okay....is there a trick to the audio? I can only get static when I play back. And I'm using a Martel mic, which they said I could use.

Oh, thank you, Trina! I did ask her, and she has no problem helping me out. I figured she would be willing to, but I was worried I might be puting her in an awkward position. I should have talked to her sooner. Silly me!

Thank you, Trina, for your reply.

There is another student at my school who has the same writer, but I believe she also has the XP disc. Would it be rude or unethical of me to ask her if she'd order the updated disc as a licensed user for me, and I would pay for it?

Hi all. I'm new to this group, and I've just recently purchased a (technically used) Stylus. I am a student in the 150-170 class. I am still getting to know my new writer and haven't been able to scrape up the funds to pay for the license transfer yet.

Unfortunately, the writer was originally purchased in 2007 which means the Utilities and Drivers won't install properly on my laptap which has Vista rather than XP. I contacted Procat to request to purchase an updated CD with utilities and drivers compatible with Vista, and, of course, they won't sell it to me until I transfer the license.

Does anyone know if there is a temporary way around this dilemma? My desktop which had XP just died, so I will have to get a new one. (Yet another expense which will further delay the license transfer)

Sorry for the rambling. Any other tips and tricks you might wish to share would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I use the student version of CaseCAT.

Thanks!

Let us know how it goes. Gluck ("good luck" in steno)!

Of course! That's how I'm getting everything installed onto my new tiny notebook computer that doesn't have a CD/DVD drive. I just put everything onto a flash drive and copy it in.

Have you tried downloading the driver from the Blue Soleil Web site?

I see under date/time properties a box to check/uncheck for "automatically adjust clock for daylight saving" That is the only "automatically adjust" box that I see. I also can't get the calendar to move forward from August of 2008.

Anastasia,

Thanks for the tip about uchecking the box for adjusting the clock.

I have already replaced the bluetooth device once (only a couple of months after I bought the machine. I also had to pay for it so to buy another one I probably won't be able to use is a bit frustrating.

Have you found any other forums online addressing problems with the BT? I have also emailed Procat two or three times about the issue and no one responds. I did talk to someone there today and she asked me to email her. So maybe........

Lucky you, getting your BT set up without a dongle. I just today had to send my dongle in to Eclipse because I broke it. Not the only one I have destroyed. Thanks!

Yeah, my support just came. It's a little painful to write that check, but the second year I had my writer, I had to take it in twice. I think it's $150 just to look at your machine, plus whatever in parts and labor. It was probably two years of payments worth of repairs. Well worth it to me.

Also, I think if you disconnect the Bluetooth before restarting your computer, you might be able to just connect it again without restarting the Stylus. I've had that happen lots of times too.

I'll ask my friend if he's for hire. :-)
