e-mail addresses -- to dot com or .com????

Hello, everyone. I'm a newbie here. I've been freelancing for about 15 years now. First seven in Maryland and the last eight here in Arizona. I won't bore you with much more, but I could use a couple of good suggestions.

When an answer/question consists of someone giving an email address, i.e., Mary Jane One at Yahoo dot com, would you (1) write it as said -- Mary Jane one at Yahoo dot com, or (2) [e-mail], or (3) [e-mail]. I am leaning towards using the first example, because as we all know -- they make it, we take it. That's what was said. I mean, I guess you can't interpret whether the email address is One or 1 -- yeah, I know, I should have asked -- got by me though!

I sure would appreciate someone's input though. Thanks so much!

I always write my email addresses as you have it in 2 and 3. You need to confirm if it's a one or a 1. More than likely it a numeral, but you've got to be sure before you put it in. Just as an aside, I put email addresses in lowercase for consistency, but also because you don't know for sure what's capitalized. Besides, capitalizing is a moot point anyway.

Marla, thanks so much for your extremely prompt response! I usually do put email addresses as I have it in 2 and 3, but with not knowing for sure exactly if it's a one or 1, I am hesitant. I agree though. The actual incident I'm referring to is someone's name with a one on the end so I would be extremely inclined to believe it is a numeral. I, also, do try to put the email addresses in lowercase as well. Well, I'm in proofreading mode...will look at it, look at it, and well, you know, look at it and decide how it reads best and makes the best sense to all. Again, I really appreciate your response.
