I'm so glad you like it, Jill! I knew what you were talking about as soon as I got to "poppet." I really like her books, the historical ones like this. You get the facts wrapped up in pretty paper and ribbons.

How old is your daughter? I think I was 15 when I first read it. The Winthrop Woman is another good one by Anya Seton.

OMG! I think that I know you! I used to utilize StenoCAT software. Does bungee jumping at Circus Circus in Las Vegas in 1997 ring a bell?! You filled out my paperwork while I was shaking like a leaf in a tornado, with my credit card in my hand. I was blonde, single, and, of course, younger back then.

Do you go to any Eclipse user group conventions/seminars? It would be so great to see you in person again! Maybe do a bungy jump. Ugh! That still scares the tar out of me, even though I've done it a couple of times, and have done two tandem skydives, and raced high-performance go-karts, and gotten married, and birthed two children. There's just something about throwing myself off of a tower that really gets me scared.
I wasn't nearly as scared with my two tandem skydives!
