Hi. It doesn't seem too bad. How soon after 160's did you start going to 180's... I'm thinking once I pass atleast a test or two ;)

School's going fine. Taking my leave (even if only for 6 weeks) I felt great coming back that first week. My daughter was sick for a week and now I come back and my fingers are everywhere! Not too bad, but I moved today, so hopefully will help, I think that chair had some bad juju ;)

And my computer will freeze while I'm on CaseCat if I unplug my realtime cable without getting out of the document I was writing in. I come back after class, the software's frozen and then I get the blue screen of death. Tomorrow I'll just have to try closing out the document before I disconnect.

wow only two years and you're already done w/ ur 200s! way to go. I thought I was going fast.. What theory did you have?

um I had computer shorthand real time theory and I also learned to come back for all my endings. But luckily my boyfriend and his mom who's a court reporter converted me to the stenomaster theory and I havn't come back for an ending ever since! It's so nice to be able to write short. I bet you'd be at like 240 if you didn't come back for endings. It takes a little practice, but it's worth it :)

WOW! That's awesome! Congrats! How long did it take you? I am working on my 80's. I moved here from Mississippi after hurricane Katrina and had to start over. I was somewhere near my 120's I think. I am just so ready to be done it's not even funny! And I hate that I had to start over.

80's are ok I guess. I mean I feel comfortable but not passing tests yet. I haven't really been giving my full effort lately though. So hopefully I will get myself back on track when I go back to night school...Hopefully next week.

wow that seems like so much work! are you nervous up there typing everything or is it not to bad? yeah I am in 120s. Today was the first time i tested and i missed 2 too many! =( but oh well i've only been in there for a month so I guess that is good. So do you just go to court every morning instead of school? You progressed pretty fast 2 years and your already in 200s do you practice all the time or are you just one of those naturally smart people lol

I've been going a year! I started at Bryan college which screwed a lot of us over, and waisted SO much money! =( We had to stay in theory for 6 months which waisted a lot of time. Oh well not much I can do about it now. Congrats on passing out of 200s that is soo good. Do you write in all briefs?

& how do you not get nervous lol what is the secret i need to know

That sucks that you're having trouble with your depo hours! I bet you're getting anxious to get into qualifiers! Working for my mom is going well...expect she came down with the plague that everyone is getting, so I'm working solo today. I have no idea what I'm doing!!! I hope she can come to work tomorrow. But other then that, I'm so happy to be home. I'm going to be coming down that way pretty soon to get my stuff from my aunt's house, so we'll have to get together for lunch or something. I'm not quite sure what weekend, but I'll let you know. I miss you lots!!!

Wow, you're so close to the end! (And the beginning of your CR working world) Congrats! We're actually located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Once in a great while, we'll get a Workers' Comp depo in Sacamento, so please let me know when you get certified. Meanwhile, if anything comes in in that area, i'll let you know if you'd like to sit in.

I have to say that my school days were so long ago - like over 27 years - that I barely remember how I got through them. Lots of practice, reading from perfect notes ... I would recommend that you don't start working until you've really got some speed. Jenny, John and I passed our Merits before we started working, and it really makes the rest of your reporting life much less stressful if you're not always struggling to take things down. Of course, we all had the benefit of living at home with Mom and Dad at the time, and that's just not possible for most everybody!

thank you! yaa those depo hours are tough. Especially w/ only 1 hour left!:( you'll get it! umm my qualifiers are on Tuesday and and Thursday. Tuesday we get three and Thursday we get 2. I tried soooo hard to pass on Tuesday but came up short about 15 or 20 over I think. I was shaking soo bad haha and i told myself I wouldn't be nervous :/ congrats to you too. Hey maybe we'll be goin to the same test! thatd be so cool :)

I don't know how the academics are workin out, but we'll do anything to get to the next test basically. Are you finished with yours? And everyone is saying there might not b a test in July so I don't know.

your so lucky you get to study and GO for sure in July. I guess the only reason people are saying there is no test is because they haven't given the exact date yet. i duno. Have u been celebrating?! i still can't get over it when I think about it :)

Danielle, I haven't been on this site for a while. Are you still looking to intern? If I were you, I would contact reporting firms directly, as the individual court reporter has no contact with the client before the actual job. It must be cleared with them first, of course! Let me know how that goes!!!

The RPR was really, really good. I am 99% sure I passed, which is such a great feeling! I am going to get my CRR next (certified realtime reporter) so I can start making more money! Things have been slow for a little while, but there are always these lulls (so I hear). When are you taking the CSR??? I'm excited for you!

I think the CRR is in November. I need to practice some more. It's only a 180 lit, but I hear it's pretty tough.
