Hi Sharon!! Good to see you on here :)

    Hello, Sharon...

That message is actually an E-mail that I received a few days ago. I knew that everyone here at this forum could relate to it in one way or the other , so I'm glad that I've decided to share it. Please enjoy, and pass it along.
  • Jennifer Houston

    Hi Sharon,
I see that you live in Wilmington DE. So do I. What school is it that you go to for court reporting? I saw you have CRID listed, but I've never heard of it. I go to school through an online program based in Indiana called College of Court Reporting.

  • Adrienne

Hi Sharon! We are in CRID together! How are you doing?
  • Jeannie Wright

Hi, Sharon! I saw your post on the DF in the CASE class and somewhere (in my haze of net surfing), I read about the CASE 9 update CD, but I don't remember the info about getting it -- can you just call Stenograph and get it? I updated online last night, but I know that's not the complete update! TIA! Jeannie

Hi Sharon! After all the buzz in the DF I had to check this out! I found a few people from school so I thought I'd say hello!
  • Sheila

Hey Sharon, sorry I took so long to comment, I kinda forgot about this page for a week or so!
  • Erin Portwood

Hey Sharon! The last couple of weeks have been really hard for to me get my hours in too! I seem to get that way towards the end of the quarter! I'm really looking forward to this next break we have coming up! Good luck and happy writing!
  • Jeannie Wright

Hey, Sharon! How ya doin! The semester is coming to an end, fast! I'm playin catch-up on a lesson! Of all my friends, you probably could help me with this question - I tried to post photos (just like you do on MySpace), but it just keeps reading the code and not posting a picture - any ideas?
  • Jeannie Wright

Hi, Sharon! I got your e-mail but too late. My head has been buried in getting steno done before the semester end. I took my CASE exam the first day it was available. Did you ever get to take yours? I hope so. I know that was really stressful for you.

How are you doing otherwise? How did speedbuilding go? You'll be ready for qualifying soon, won't you?

    Enjoy your week off!
  • Jeannie Wright

Hi, Sharon! I'm really glad you were able to take the test! No, my classes didn't appear either and I was getting a little antsy - like maybe I didn't pass or they didn't want me back! I'm in 80/100 speed and, frankly, took a little time to review my LaMaze techniques for breathing after I went through the course and the dictation (little bit of shallow breathing going on there). I know I can get it - I am just going to have to go without sleep for the next 12 weeks! Ha, ha!

Well, I'll miss not seeing you in class-- good luck with your speed this quarter - I know you will pass with flying colors! You are always so on top of everything!

    Holler back!
  • Jeannie Wright

Hey! How's the first week going? I feel like there aren't enough hours in the day to practice -- and my hands are sore! How is speech going - and what in the world do you do in that class when you are an online student? Seems a little bit like an oxymoron since we just stare at computer screens. Tell me you DON'T deconstruct sentences - I hate that!
  • Sheila

Hey Sharon, I am in 120/140 and Speech. I think I may be in Speech with you? I actually haven't looked at that class yet this week much, perhaps I should get started. They broke the 120/140 class in half this quarter, so that's probably why you haven't seen me there! How are you doing?

    Sharon,
I would be glad to help you regarding your interview. My phone is (904) 743-5791. If you miss me, leave your number, and I'll call you back. Sincerely, Carol
  • Sheila

Are we still going to have to do that? I hope not, no mention of it tonight!
Honestly, I don't like Speech class, I don't think it's a good use of our time, this subject cannot be taught online. It's lame. Just my opinion.
  • Jessica K. Belcher

Hi, Sharon. I received your card in the mail today and wanted to tell you "thank you" and that if you need any advice, just let me know! Good luck in your class. :)

P.S. The pic of your son is adorable!
  • Sheila

Hey Sharon! Yay! We're in the same class again!
  • Jeannie Wright

Hi, Sharon! How are you doing? How is steno? I just found your email in one of my boxes and want to apologize with regard to not replying and I hope you found someone for your questionnaire! Who's class are you in? Sorry we aren't in class together, I always enjoyed your responses! Give me a shout when you Can and good luck this quarter!
  • Jeannie Wright

Hey, Sharon! You sound terrific! You know, I've come to the conclusion that no speed is ever ever easy--and for the first time, I'm having some doubts about ever attaining any speeed - but I know it will come! I had Ms. Moss for tech and just loved her, so I know you will have a terrific class! Good luck with your speeds and let's keep up here - maybe we will wind up in another class together!
  • Sheila

Hey Sharon, I wanted to make sure you go my email today about the whole politics thing in the DF.
  • JiLL

It's so nice to hear from you. For the time being, im still hangin' in there but i dunno how much longer. In March, i am going to start a voice class (using the mask) so i may just stick with that & forget about CRID....will see. Lemme hear from you again. Thanks for writing!
  • Jeannie Wright

Hi, Sharon! How are you?! Sorry to be so late in replying to your post - I had such a nasty, nasty quarter this past one - but I learned a lot. Still have sweaty palms about ever attaining significant speed! How did you semester go and what class will you be in next?

BTW, you always have the most awsome page with all your little widgets and videos - I am not that good, or that thorough yet - but I'm learning!

Holler back and let me know how you are doing! Miss you in class, but maybe we will catch up with each other!
  • Jeannie Wright

Hi, Sharon! Congrats to you!!! I'm proud of you -- won't be long before you are out among the troops making great money and having a great time! That's exciting!

You know, it's wonderful to not have an academic - I have a few piddly ones to take - most of them I hardly crack the book on - Speech will be the only one I have to actually do anything for - Ha! I'm going to give it another try and see if I don't do better this semester - I've been practicing and just trying to get a rhythm down.

Hope you had great holidays and have a Happy New Year! TTFN
  • Jeannie Wright

Sharon - I posted this to your question on my blog:

Mark Kislingbury is the king of steno - seriously -- he's been a multi-time speed champion. He has a website: www.magnumsteno.com. He also published Stenomaster Theory which I am incorporating into Phoenix -- and it's working well -- possibly because I don't have a really built up dictionary (not complaining - Phoenix sends a great one), and don't have years of habits to break. His new book looks awesome and I hope to get it for my birthday and when my speed gets up, I want to join his monthly club - I think you would probably be at the speed where you could enjoy that.

Do go to his website - you can only benefit!

  • Jeannie Wright

What a nice family pic, Sharon! Just wanted to holler and say hello -- how's your first week going? Who did you get for an instructor? I am still with Mrs. Scoggins, whom I just love and it's going well for me! Say hello when you can!
  • Jeannie Wright

Sharon! That is so cool about your friend! Does he need another one! You will love Ms. Moss and Mr. Scoggins - they are both terrific. I can't believe that I'm actually on track and doing testing tonight - hope I pass! I always just wait with baited breath! Good luck to you on your task - I'd love to do something like that, but I'm "in the closet" regarding my schooling here (I don't know how well it would be received at work) -- enjoy!
  • Jeannie Wright

Hi, Sharon - it would be AWESOME to help with th transcripts! I'd love it! My semester is going so terrific so far! How's yours?!

I just loved having Ms. Moss - have ya'll exchanged photos yet?! I always thought that was a good idea. Being online is a silent, lonely world and having faces makes a difference, doesn't it?!
  • Jeannie Wright

Oh, I have finally found the secret to success (for me) -- I am now getting up and being on the machine at 4 a.m. and doing steno for 3 uninterrupted hours every morning! What a huge difference it has made! Absolutely no interruptions - no phone, no kids, no pets, no door ringing, no noises - I cannot believe how much I am retaining and how easy it's coming now! So, that's made a big difference to my outlook!

Ms. Scoggins is such a big help, too - I had some questions on CASE and just emailed her - she came back with the most thorough answer!

Well, let me know about your friend and let me know how your speeds are going! I'm testing this week -- Woo hoo!
  • Jeannie Wright

Hi, again, Sharon! We just got our speed tests yesterday, too - I'm frantically practicing and it's working! Good luck with your tests! I'm a little anxious, but I think it will still work for me! I hope you pass yours!
  • Jeannie Wright

Don't get frustrated ... you're a great student and the speeds will come. You know how you just keep banging your head against the wall -- well, one day it all gives way -- and then I wonder what I was upset about - haha! You'll do fine--just keep swimming!
  • Jeannie Wright

Hey, Sharon - sorry it's been so long since I stopped in -- I got sick with pneumonia on the 14th (well, it was coming on before that, I just really got socked with it) and I've been in bed off and on for a month! I HATE that! Trying to keep up with school while you're sick is a challenge, too!

Enough of that ! How are your studies going? What speed are you at now? I'll bet you've just blasted through things! How's your project coming? Write back and let me know everything new! take care!
  • Jeannie Wright

HOORAY for you! 120! That's a HUGE milestone! I'm proud of you! I'm going to take my last 80 this week and I think I will pass it; then I'm onto the 100's and I hope to pass by semester end (5 weeks). Those plateaus are the pits! And, of course, life changes and now it's really imperative that I get school done just as soon as I can and move on - nothing like stress to add to your plate!

I hope you enjoy your friend's project - it will be interesting and different from the routine practice

Keep on doing what your doing -- it's working and that's terrific!
  • Jeannie Wright

OMG - well I really DO wish you the best of luck! I hope you find something that pays well and doesn't fatigue you too much to continue school - have you tried yahoo hotjobs/monster/juju? I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers - both of you - it isn't good if men don't work - it's everything to them -- what are each of your careers right now? Can you translate them into something else?

Well, you and I both need to blast through school - I'm trying to write at least 6 hours a day! Hopefully that will help! Good luck to you both!
  • Jeannie Wright

Well I'm sure Scott will be able to find something - he has many skills and talents that are needed -- and, not that I'm trying to tell you how to find work, but I know that when I was the business office manager of a nursing home, we COULD NOT keep a manager for the restaurant/dining hall of the facility (where family would come in and eat with their loved ones) - you might keep that in mind - it would only be temporary - you are so far ahead - it won't be long before you're studying for your RPR. Just a thought!
  • Jeannie Wright

Oh, my goodness, I had no idea that you had to put in those kinds of hours. While I do the same, they are very structured and I'm home by at least a certain time unless it's a very difficult trial - well, we will just keep thinking positive for both of ya'll!

I am considreing starting CRID's online program. I would start in the 160 class because I've been going to a brick and mortor school. Do you like CRID? Honest;y, please.
