    Hi, Reid,

I hope all is well! It's really cold in Philly. It actually feels like Minnesota weather. It's nice to hear from you. I love this site.

Hi Reid! hey thanks so much for having CAROL help me. ya, the girl back out saying something about i hadnt sent her the info in time (it was still a week beforehand???) and she was nervous about taking the job or something. we usually get job info night before and if REQUESTED, a few days before. i would have sent it sooner had she only asked. but whatever. she DID give me another name of a girl who is covering for me, so she has redeemed herself (LOL). thanks for all your help. i SURE dont want to fly all the way to MN for a day of work, even though i think it would still be worth the $$$. xoxoxo

I'm feeling much better, but can't say the same for my son. He's now sick. Life sucks.

Thanks! Actually, I'm back in the work force so I'm not really looking for more work right now. I'm at Arthur Chapman. I hear you were there one day not long ago:)

    Hi Reid,
Glad you got in touch with me! I just started theory last August so I have a ways to go, but I am constantly practicing so hopefully I will be out sooner than the average 3 years they say it takes. How's business up here in MN, are you keeping busy?

    Hi Reid,

I am a scopist looking for part-time work now. Want to move to full-time. I work on Total Eclipse 4.2. I'm working at United Hospital in St Paul in medical transcription right now, but hope to be part-time at home doing that soon, which will leave me more time for scoping. If you know of anyone who needs a scopist, let me know. Thx.

    Dear Reid,
Let me know what you have in mind. I have helped a court reporter I transcribe for in North Carolina with medical terms, even when I wasn't doing the transcription for her. Glad to help.

Actually, no, I don't work while I go to school. I am lucky my husband is picking up the slack on that end. It makes school much more tolerable. Yep, only one school in MN that teaches it, Anoka Technical College. It has only been around for about 5 years now. The instructors are great there.
So you freelance-that is what I would like to start doing when I get done and then eventually do captioning.
  • Renee

Thanks for the advice. Anything helps.
I think your speaking at our school would be a good idea. Our instructor & director would have to get involved. I know the students would like it. Let me know if you would like to get a hold of our director of the program and I can give you her name, phone, e-mail and also ask her it it would be o.k. That would be great!

    Reid,

I saw your post re billing for an O&2. What an interesting idea. I'm in So Cal, where they stip away my Original to opposing counsel so he can obtain the sig, which then they don't have to order a copy (most of the time).

There's no way we, the small outfits, can stay in business if we take the approach of "No, you can't do that." We'd lose clients.

But if we word it, You get charged $X.xx for an O&2 automatically (and we'll have to keep it close to the charges others are charging for an O&1 or we'll just cut our throats), but $X.xx for an O&1 when opposing counsel purchases their own copy, I wonder if that's a way we can get our clients out of the mindset of giving away our original.

Of course we'd have to price it so we're making a profit.

Very interesting. I'm going to have to think about that one. Thanks.

There is no way I could mistake hearing tramerizer for ionizer. It is, in fact, tramerizer, though. Thx.

Oh how I have missed shooting video since I arrived here in Bemidji. I got my name out to local attorneys, and tried to contact local court reporters to no avail. I had to take a regular job in the mean time, but I would be grateful to get back to the video world. It is so slow that we are probably going to move back to Houston to resume our business there by the end of the year. Thanks for finding me and thanks in advance for any work you can send my way.
