Thanks for the congrats again =).. How is school going for you right now?? I checked out your blog and I really like it. Wish I was creative enough to do something like that...
hi christine, yeah i go to tri comm.. i havent been there for quite a while.. my son started school and im unable to pick him up if i go to class.. bummer.. but soon my mom will be helping me out.. so.. hopefully i will be done with school in a couple years.. maybe sooner, im at 100 wpm.. but im done with all my academics.. i have my own machine and software, but im so busy its hard to practice.. i gotta buckle down and just do it.. lol thank you for the birthday wishes.. and hope u have a wonderful week!
thank you! ahh, the 5 :( I take that freeway everyday!!! it's horrible! I went to school in Downey, I was thinking of transfering there. :) ahha well, good luck . Let me know how it all works out.
No, no. Sorry. lol I went to high school in Downey. I heard that the Court reporting program there is REALLY good, and really cheap! haha that's why I was thinking of making the switch. When do you start?
Hello Christine, Thanks for the birthday wishes...I appreciate it. Yeah I have my second test tonight for lessons 6-10 for Theory 1. I feel the pressure is on...but I feel I will do fine. I cant believe how fast we move along(its a night class). I love it! Learn something new always. Take care. How are things going for you?
Thanks again Christine!! Shannon
Hi Christine! Simply Steno was one of the best decisions I made while on my journey to becoming a CR. There is only one thing that might be a little bit of a con. :) Simply Steno only takes you to 200 WPM-- that is if he hasn't changed that.
So the last 25 words to get me to the 225 - I did on my own. Took me another full year! Whew! LOL
I have a family and needed to do an online program that was affordable. It is the best program out there that I have seen. Maybe if enough people complain about it only going to 200 he will change that. Now, I know that he does give the RPR prep CD after you pass your 200s, but it's a five-week CD and it has 225 and 240 on it, but it wasn't structured and monitored like the rest of the program.
Good Luck! Stay with it. I've been working for four months - it is worth it!!!

I think being in a classroom setting with other students learning court reporting is infectious and would better suit getting you out there as a reporter. I went to school in Sacramento at Argonaut about 23 years ago - yikes. I just know people feed off each other and you can learn so much talking with each other and the best way to go about learning something. Just my two cents.
I'm just finishing up work for the night, and what a lovely surprise to find your birthday greeting waiting for me. Thank you so much for your kindness in sending the birthday greeting. It was a wonderful surprise.
I am so glad to hear that Simply Steno is going to 225. Isn't Marc awesome? He was always very available. It's a great program. Hey, if you try it and you see it's not working for you, it isn't going to break the bank account, right? :)
I am doing freelance with Veritext. Love it! No, there is no certification for PA. I passed the RPR in May of this year. I'm just enjoying learning the ropes and after the new year I am going to take the CRR--well, I'm going to start getting ready. :)
Are you the one that has put this blog about buying the suitcase instead of the case from stenograph? If so, thanks so much. I did just that today. LOL Saved me $185.00
It's perfect. I had purchased a 400 when I first started and I actually just took that case and fit it into the suitcase and packed it like that. Just so that it's nice and snug. I have an 8000LX. It works just fine for me.
I am on StenoCat. There's not a lot of people around me that uses it, but it is so affordable.
Well, good luck. Don't quit, whatever you do, just don't stop. You just can't imagine that feeling you have when you walk out of that testing room knowing you have passed the RPR. I took it four times. There was only one of those times that I didn't pass anything. Don't ask me why. My body betrayed me. LOL
I see you're already at 180. You are going to do great with SimplySteno. Please, keep me posted. Good luck!!
Christine, that is the key - being able to write fast and accurately. You don't necessarily have to have a CSR or RPR, but many cc companies are looking for the RDR and CRR. Most all companies have training that you'll have to go through, and if you can get through that, you're home free. I would say do the absolute best that you can do and get all the way through school because cc'ing is much harder than legal stuff, IMHO. You CAN go ahead and start building your dictionary for cc'ing if you already have your software. Dictionary Jumpstart has different modules, and that's a great way. If you are short on money, simply getting a newspaper and going through the politics section, the sports section... you get the drift, and inputting all the proper terminology that you're going to hear when you start cc'ing is a great way to get a head while still in school. I hope this helps!
Hello Christine,
Yeah I am enjoying school. Its crazy how fast we go through the lessons and how much we learn. Night school goes at a much faster pace. Its a totally different language thats for sure...but I love it!! I hope everything works out for you next year with your busy schedule. Are you going to a different school next year? I remember you saying something about it. I go to Sage College in Moreno Valley there is also one in San Diego. Talk to you later...I will pray that he will give you guidance.
Hey Christine!!! I'm sorry I'm just getting back to you...I haven't logged in for a bit.
I actually LOVE Simply Steno. Marc, who runs it, is great, his feedback is great, the dictation is clear and it's HARD dictation.
I just haven't really been going like I need to. I'm sure if I put into it what I'm supposed to I'd finish relatively soon. My deal is I just left (well...6 months ago) a full-time job and am doing transcription from home. It originally was so that I could go to school more, but I am finding that the work has taken over my life, and because it pays less than I'm used to, I'm taking everything I can get. Thankfully, I can use my machine. So I feel like my accuracy is getting WAAAAAY better, but my speed stinks, and I really need to find a way to fit it all in.
How do you fit everything in? I see you are a transcriptionist too.
Love your blog, by the way!!!! Hope to hear back from you!!
Thank You Christine, you right this is the best birthday gift ever. I am so excited!!!
I contacted two agencies already. I cannot wait to go on my first interview.
I will keep you posted on my progress with my beautiful transition, from going to school to starting a wonderful career.
Yes, two pugs! Pewee and Angel both rescues. Pugs are the saddest/cutest/intense looking dogs I've even have the pleasure of knowing. My friend Rachel says they "always look hungry" and it's true. I love your blog btw! I read through it for about twenty minutes the other night.
Please respond to either rpr3xcsr@juno.com or text me to call you when you receive this...408-390-7935. I have over 20 years of court reporting and NO carpal tunnel. I have some information to impart that has helped me over time.
Hey, Christine. Just wanted to check in on you to see how you're doing. You still in court reporting school or studying it? How is that coming along? Hope all is well. :)
Just getting back to CSR Nation after not being on in a long time. Pat is still here, but Marti retired a couple years ago. She lives near me, and I check in on her every now and then. She's doing well. Glad to see you!
